Full textanalysis, design and implementation of a DC-DC converter with active clamp forward topology is presented. The main objective of this thesis is generating a rectified sinusoidal voltage at the output of the converter. This is accomplished by changing the reference signal of the converter. The converter output is applied to an inverter circuit in order to obtain sinusoidal waveform. The zero crossing points of the converter is detected and the inverter drive signals are generated in order to obtain sinusoidal waveform from the output of the converter. Next, the operation of the DC-DC converter and sinusoidal output inverter coupled performance is investigated with resistive and inductive loads to find out how the proposed topology performs. The design is implemented with an experimental set-up and steady state and dynamic performance of the designed power supply is tested. Finally an evaluation of how better performance can be obtained from this kind of arrangement to obtain a sinusoidal output inverted is thoroughly discussed

Full textThis work presents the development of oscillators and ampli?ers build around new ytterbium rod type ?ber. These ?ber systems generate high average power generation. The oscillator makes it possible to deliver well linearly polarized, almost TEM 00 mode, and millijoule-level nanosecond pulses at a tunable repetition rate (10-100 kHz). The spectral bandwidth was shown to be less than 0.1 nm. To achieve higher peak power and shorter pulses, two types of ampli?ers have been developed and characterized. The experimental results we obtain, do well agree with the numerical simulations we developped. The ?rst system ampli?es in a rod type ?ber the nanosecond pulses yielded by a microlaser working at 1064 nm wavelength injected . Its provides pulses with a high peak power system (500 kW). Its repetition rate was tuned from 1 kHz to 30 kHz. The second ampli?er was built using a Q-switched ytterbium doped ?ber oscillator injected in a second ?ber which acts as ampli?er. In this original system the two cavities are coupled. It delivers two nanosecond pulses that are coherent, polarized, almost TEM00 single mode beams and that can have independently tunable pulse energies. We have shown that these oscillators and ampli?ers can be easily doubled and tripled in fre- quency. Very high ef?ciency of about 64 % and 38 % have been achieved respectively at 2? and 3?. These outputs have been to have remarquable spatial and temporal characteristics

Full textThis PhD thesis explores methods to increase both the power efficiency and the resolution of switched-capacitor Delta-Sigma analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) by employing novel CMOS low-power circuits. A high circuit performance, reliability, low manufacturing costs and a simple design flow to be reused by the scientific community are prioritized. The Delta-Sigma architecture is chosen because of its simplicity and tolerance for its basic block imperfections. The presented circuit research makes use of switched-capacitor techniques to achieve an appropriate matching between the devices and to be dependent only on the external clock jitter. The developed low-current analog circuit techniques target power efficiency, taking advantage of the weak- and moderate-inversion regions of the MOS transistor operation. Novel Class-AB operational amplifiers are also investigated as active elements, trying to use energy only for dynamic transitions, thus reducing power consumption at the circuit level. The circuits unused during a certain period of time are switched off, thus reducing power consumption at the system level and minimizing the number of signal-path switching devices. The circuit reliability is improved by avoiding bootstrapping or other techniques which may increase the operation voltages beyond the nominal supply of the target CMOS technology. Furthermore, the design research also focuses on new circuit topologies with a low sensitivity to both process and temperature deviations in order to increase the yield of the resulting ADCs. A 96.6-dB-SNDR 50-kHz-BW 1.8-V 7.9-mW Delta-Sigma modulator for ADCs is implemented in a standard 0.18-µm CMOS technology based on the proposed novelties. The measurement results indicate the improvement of the state of the art of high-resolution ADCs without clock bootstrapping, calibration or digital compensation, benefiting a wide range of smart sensing applications. Another contribution made in the scope of this research work is the improvement of MOS-only single-stage Class-AB operational amplifiers. The developed switched variable-mirror amplifiers, with their remarkable current efficiency and intrinsic frequency compensation together with high full-scale value and open-loop gain, are suitable for low-power high-precision applications extending beyond the specific area of ADCs, such as digital-to-analog converters (DACs), filters or generators.

The thesis presents an active-clamp two-switch forward converter. The active-clamp technique clamps the voltage stress of switch, and it also achieves the zero-voltage switching which reduces the switching loss and the spike on switch. Furthermore, it improves the efficiency of the converter. At the secondary of the transformer, the current-doubler rectifier is used instead of the half-wave rectifier to reduce the root mean square current of the secondary-winding. Also, two output filter inductors cancel the current ripple so as to eliminate the voltage ripple on the output capacitor. Finally, according to the operation principle, the steady-state analysis and the component design presented in the thesis, a 400V input, 12V output with 360W prototype is made, and the experimental result of related waveforms is shown to prove the feasibility of the configuration.

In this thesis, a series input parallel output high step-up voltage converter is proposed. This converter combines the forward converter and the flyback converter to achieve high step-up voltage when the switch is turned on. The topology is operated in symmetry. The two active switches are interleavedly controlled, and utilize the same clamp capacitor to achieve leakage energy recycling. The switches of the proposed converter achieve zero voltage switching (ZVS) at full load and middle load, on the other hand, they achieve low voltage switching at condition of lower load current. In this research, conventional high step-up voltage converters and related topologies are firstly introduced, followed by characteristic analysis and design of the proposed converter, which is verified by a prototype circuit in the laboratory with 24V input and 200 V/400W output.

A current-doubler rectifier two-switch active-clamp forward converter with one ground-clamp diode is proposed in this thesis. The proposed exhibits the features of wide-input voltage-range application, low output current ripple and high efficiency. A two-switch active-clamp forward converter has a main drawback that its maximum duty ratio is limited to 0.5 to guarantee flux reset for the magnetizing inductor of transformer. The limitation of duty ratio causes the narrow input voltage range. In order to overcome this drawback, the hybrid-bridge switching circuit structure of a two-switch active-clamp forward converter should be destruct. Therefore, two switches and only one ground-clamp diode are utilized to the proposed converter herein. Moreover, a delay turn-off gate signal is used to drive the grounded switch, and thus all the switches of the proposed converter can achieve zero-voltage switching (ZVS) condition under turn-on transition. On the other hand, when the proposed converter with current-doubler rectifier can be operated at duty ratio , it can provide the output current ripple cancellation completely to reduce the size of output filter and increase the power density. The operating principles, component design and power switch selection of the proposed converter are investigated. The IsSpice simulations and experimental results are provided based on an input voltage 400 V, output voltage 48 V and output power 200 W prototype to verify the theoretical analysis of the proposed converter. In addition, according to the experimental results, the maximum power efficiency of the proposed converter is about 84%.

Herein, we synthesized a TTF contained molecular clip 1a. Under acidic condition, the known molecular clip 2 underwent a condensation reaction with 2-thioxo-1,3-dithiole. The resulting product 3 was then modified on the phenolic groups with triethylene glycol monomethyl ether tosylate to get molecular clip 5a. 5a was treated with Hg(OAc)2 to convert thione into ketone (6a). Then the resulting molecular clip 6a was reacted with 1,3-dithiole-2-thione in presence of P(OEt)3 to afford 1a. We found such TTF contained molecular clip that forms a macrocycle – molecular clip complex with a electronic complementary macrocycle. Four different sets of external stimuli – the K+/[2,2,2]cryptand, NH4+/Et3N, (p-PhBr)3NSbCl6/Zn pairs and heating/cooling cycles – allow the movement of this molecular switch to be controlled between its threaded and unthreaded states. The macrocycle – molecular clip complex not only considered as a quadruply controllable molecular switch but also can be operated by three of these stimuli as a three-input molecular NOR-functioning logic gate that may be monitored by UV-Vis spectroscopy.
