This chapter shows how this change in focus took place; it considers the ways in which some contact research continues to ignore social justice concerns today; and it reflects

<div class="section abstract"><div class="htmlview paragraph">Online road profiling capability is required for automotive active suspension systems to be realized in a consumer and commercial landscape. One challenge that impedes the realization of these systems is the need for the online road profiler to maintain an optimal spatial resolution of the oncoming road profile. Shifting of the road profiling sensor measurement frame of reference due to body motion experienced by the vehicle can negatively impact profiling accuracy. Prior work proposed a corrective look-ahead road profil

The Open Geospatial Consortium has defined "OGC WaterML 2: Part 3 - Surface Hydrology Features (HY_Features) - Conceptual Model", but not any particular implementation of it. The Common Hydrology Features (CHyF) model extends HY_Features and makes some minor changes to it required for implementation and the delivery of high performance services. HY_Features discusses catchment coverage and topological relations. In CHyF these are key ideas, as is the notion that hydrologically defined network components form elements of a mathematical graph, allowing for very fast network traversal. HY_Feature

Full text
Abstract:
Whitebark pine (Pinus albicaulis) is a high-elevation conifer of the northern Rocky Mountains and the Pacific Northwest. This slow-growing, long-lived conifer influences critical ecosystem functions in subalpine environments, including snow capture, landscape stability, soil amelioration, and overall forest health and resilience. Moreover, its nutritious seeds feed the federally threatened grizzly bear (Ursus arctos), Clark’s nutcracker (Nucifraga columbiana), red squirrel (Tamiasciurus hudsonicus), and other species. However, whitebark pine is declining in high-elevation forests due to severa

Geographic maps have been of military and economic importance throughout the ages. Rulers have commissioned maps to control the financial, economic, political, and military aspects of their sovereign entities. Large scale projects like the Ordnance Survey in the UK in the late 18th century, and the Lewis and Clark Expedition a few decades later to map the American West, are early examples of trailblazing efforts to create accurate modern maps of high strategic importance. Digitalization, globalization, and a larger urban and educated workforce necessitate a new understanding of the world, beyo
