Abstract:
AbstractClimate change now constitutes a major issue in world politics, intersecting with and shaping many other political domains, and wider patterns of social and economic life. Global climate governance is also no longer restricted to multilateral negotiations under the UN Climate Convention: it increasingly extends beyond the international climate regime to climatize other areas of global politics. This concept of climatization points to a powerful but uneven process of extension, translation, and social coordination, as climate change becomes the frame of reference through which other policy issues and forms of global activism are mediated and hierarchized. This special issue brings together contributions on both theoretical aspects and empirical cases of the climatization process. The introduction sets out a conceptual framework to systematize these observations and guide further research. First, we identify the preconditions for, and driving forces behind, climatization. We then sketch the contours of an emergent ‘climate logic’ that reshapes affected domains, and examine the wider implications of climatization for global politics. Beyond the climate case, we hope this will provide new ways to observe and understand contemporary transformations of global society and global governance.

It is known that approximately 15% of the energy consumed in Ecuador is used for the operation of climate conditioning equipment and, on the other hand, most of the existing technology operates on the basis of the use of refrigerant gases Are invasive to the ozone layer. In the work, a case study is shown that allows the identification of a relevant result linked to an action of technological innovation based on the conversion of the R-22 gas by the R-290 gas, thus reducing the consumption of electric energy and reducing the Environmental inventory of the institution, achieving a better performance of the technology.

Abstract:
AbstractSince 2007, the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) has debated the security implications of climate change on several occasions. This article addresses these debates by exploring two interrelated questions: What drives the continuous efforts to place climate change on the UNSC’s agenda and to what extent do the UNSC’s debates illustrate an ongoing process of climatization? To answer these, the article draws on the concept of climatization, which captures the process through which domains of international politics are framed through a climate lens and transformed as a result of this translation. It suggests that climate change has become a dominant framing and an inescapable topic of international relations and that the UNSC debates follow a logic of expansion of climate politics by securing a steady climate agenda, attributing responsibility to the Council in the climate crisis, involving climate actors and advocating for climate-oriented policies to maintain international security.

Abstract:
AbstractIn relation to new building directives and regulations there is much focus on energy efficiencyand reducing the use of electricity. There is therefore a need for ventilation systems with lowSpecific fan power (SFP) and to limit or avoid the need for mechanical cooling. At the same time questions are raised concerning whether increasingly complicatedventilation systems are the best way to achieve energy efficiency. They are more vulnerablefor poor design and maintenance which especially school buildings have suffered from. This has led to the development of several natural and hybrid ventilation concepts. One ofthese which has had success in school buildings the last 15 years in Sweden and Norway isthe so-called Swedish model. Characteristic of this solution is that sub terrain culverts areused for passive cooling and heating of the ventilation air which passes through double innerwalls and is supplied to the room high on the inner wall. The supply air falls towards the floormixing in the surrounding air and spreads along the floor as displacement flow with an outletin the ceiling. This works particularly well in classrooms where the high occupation densitycreates a cooling demand large parts of the year. These schools therefore have a very low SFPfactor and no mechanical cooling. In the following report a classroom model with the Swedish ventilation concept is studiedwith the aim of developing a method of dimensioning such air flow. CFD simulations areused to confirm expected behaviour and the resulting thermal comfort and air quality attypical winter, spring and summer scenarios. Finally a Guide for preliminary design andsizing for climatization of rooms with cooling needs using the Swedish model is presented. The most important results were that there was a good correspondence between the empiricalcalculations and CFD simulations. Adequate carbon dioxide levels and temperature can beachieved without use of primary energy for heating at for outdoor temperatures above 5 ºC.There was a substantial risk of draft unless a near zone of 2-3 m is used. However the CFDmodel was limited to a slice of the classroom and the accuracy of the results suffers somewhatfrom this.Guidelines are developed for preliminary design and sizing of supply air plumes based onempirical expressions of air flow by Eimund Skåret(2000) and can be found in the appendix.

The experiment was conducted at the Postharvest Laboratory of UFRRJ, aiming to observe the effects of competition of the processes of irradiation and climatization sequences, on the maturation of banana 'Prata' and 'Prata an??. For the treatments, the fruits were separated into two lots. The first batch was taken to Centro Tecnol?gico do Ex?rcito (CTEx), in Rio de Janeiro, to receive doses of 0.25 kGy and 0.50 kGy in irradiator with a source of 137Cs. The second batch remained in the Postharvest Laboratory, and were underwent to exposure of calcium carbide in a dose of 7 g m-?. Part of the first batch returned to the Laboratory, being exposed under the same conditions and doses of calcium carbide. In the same manner described above, part of the second batch was taken to CTEx for exposure to the same doses of gamma radiation from the first batch. Two experiments were conducted separately. In both experiments, we evaluated the skin color, index of diseases, weight loss, firmness, peel chlorophyll, acidity, starch, soluble solids, enzymatic activity (pectinmetilesterase) and respiratory activity. In the first experiment, fruits of banana 'Prata' underwent a randomized design in factorial 8x5, except for evaluations of starch and pectinmetilesterase (8x3) and firmness (8x2). The average temperature of storage was 27 ? C. In experiment two, fruits of banana 'Prata-dwarf "were also subjected to completely randomized design with 8x5 factorial design (skin color, index and weight loss) and 8x3 for the other variables. The average temperature of storage was 23 ? C. In Experiments 1 and 2 for respiratory activity, we used a split plot design in time, with six replicates. Under the conditions of this study, the fruits obtained in the region of Angra dos Reis, Rio de Janeiro showed no positive responses in terms of quality with the application of irradiation, suggesting that the inappropriate handling of the fruits in the field, significantly influenced the results in post-harvest when the irradiation was used as a process to increase their useful life. The sequence of processes used, climatization and irradiation, regardless of the order, did not show different effects, since the fruits of both cultivars showed similar behavior during storage. More evident for the banana ?Prata-an??, treatment with gamma radiation at 0.25 kGy dose alone was effective in slowing the processes that lead to maturity

In this work, will be characterized two types of adsorptive wheels, an active effect and the other passive effect, known respectively as desiccant wheel and enthalpy wheel. These devices are used to compose the climatization adsorption systems as a means of promoting the dehumidification of air using the adsorption phenomenon that occurs in their adsorptive matrices. This phenomenon involves both the mass transfer and the heat, its cycles are defined by two processes taking place simultaneously, the adsorption and desorption. In the study, the characterization will boil down to assess the equipment in different working conditions with the main objective to achieve better dehumidification of air using the least amount of energy possible. Procedures were used for low air flow rates set in three categories: the process flow, which is the airflow to be treated, or dehumidified, a regeneration flow, which is the air stream in countercurrent flow desiccant rotor with process flow will serve as a means of maintaining the adsorptive cycle always performing heat exchange and mass, and the return flow, which flow against the enthalpy rotor will also serve as a means of promoting the dehumidification of process air. In the regeneration flow rates will be assessed the effects of low temperature heating and in both wheels will be evaluated the effects of different rotational speeds. Will also take place, procedures in order to verify the possibility of the wheel enthalpy work as a wheel desiccant . The findings contributed significantly to the climate control by adsorption systems is taken increasingly as a viable alternative to replacing conventional cooling.

Abstract:
This work aimed to evaluate the economical and technical efficiency of evaporative adiabatic cooling system (EACS) for intensive milk production. Its specific objectives were to evaluate thermal efficiency of chilling systems (aspersion and sprinkler) associated with forced air fan on productive traits, heat stress reduction, internal micro-climate, and economical advantages in relation to water and energy expenses. Experiment was carried out in a commercial dairy cattle farm located in a small city of São Paulo State. In each treatment were used 10 dairy-Holstein cows sorted according to their milk production and lactation order, in a free-stall system. Among these cows, five were selected for collecting physiological data (respiratory frequency, rectal temperature and temperature in white and black pelage) at 9:00 a.m., 11:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. during nine non-consecutive days. Other five animals were evaluated for their behavior (localization and activities inside facilities) through video-cameras from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. during six days. Experimental period was twenty-eight consecutive days of November 2003, being the first seven days for animal adaptation and the last twenty-one for data collection. Climate data (relative air temperature and humidity, and dark globe temperature), in each treatment and outside of facility, were taken in intervals of 15 minutes during 24 hours by HOBO ® data logger, which permitted to calculate the Humidity and Temperature Index (HTI), Humidity and Dark Globe Index (HDGI) and Enthalpy (E). Fan with 2.5 m.s -1 of air mobility capacity associated to aspersion and sprinkler systems, were controlled by thermostat and distributed following feeder line of free-stall. Production variables considered were: milk production, feed intake, animal behavior, water and energy consumption of cooling system, and animal physiological traits. Data evaluation was realized in a completely randomized block design using in statistical analysis Tukey’s test with 1% of significance level. General analysis of results was performed through SAS proceedings. Considering that treatments promoted similar feed intake (the difference was 3.0 kg DM.animal -1 .month -1 ), the chilling system associated to aspersion led to an increase (18.0 liters.animal -1 .month -1 ) in 3% milk production in spite of its higher consumption of water and energy (7535.7 liters.animal -1 .month -1 and 2.3 kW.h -1 .animal -1 .month -1 , respectively). As consequence, it was observed an increase of 4.7% in total mensal profit in relation to sprinkler system.

Abstract:

Abstract:
Assemble the air conditioning by indirect vapor-compression, using refrigerant R134a, the principle of evaporative cooling direct cooling, was the subject focus of the work. The vapor compression cooling results in the delivery of air conditioning under conditions of comfort that can be changed significantly if we add the results, the conditioning by evaporative cooling. The observation of the experiments are bases on psychometric processes involved, combining the adiabatic saturation of air in the evaporative cooling effect of the combined refrigerator of the difference in enthalpy at the inlet and outlet of the evaporator in the conventional cooling cycle. It was possible to evaluate the reduction of the coefficient of performance and cooling capacity increase due to the increase of compressor speed. During the serial aligned pads evaporative cooling and vapor compression test, there was a decrease of the effectiveness evaporative cooler, when the air flow was added, in addition, it was increased the cooling capacity according to the association of the two systems, with no significant increase the power supplied.

Abstract:
Given the current standards of living, where we spent most of our time inside buildings, with a level of Comfort that no one wants to give up, urges the development of sustainable climate control technologies. Due to a unique combination of factors, low energy (and also passive) houses in Portugal are particularly well suited to exploiting the advantages of solar thermal energy especially when combined with seasonal energy storage. However no documented example there of how this synergy can be exploited successfully in Portugal, illustrating the way in which the need for heating can be addressed in a sustainable manner without the use of fossil fuels. Solar energy is an important alternative energy source for heating applications. One main factor that limits its application is that it is an energy source with an average availability of cyclical variation. The use of seasonal thermal energy storage can substantially reduce the cost of solar energy systems that can supply up to 100% of buildings energy needs. Such systems are designed to collect solar energy during the summer and retain the stored heat for use during the winter.

Abstract:
Pollution in Mexico City, during almost year round, it is the highest of Mexico, due mainly to the emanations of traffic and industry in addition to the use of gas or firewood heater to condition the interior of the housings and buildings during the winter [1]. The present article shows, that it is possible to use natural ventilation to weathering the interior of a house in a mild-rain climate during the winter, through the use of massive walls, insulation roofs and use the solar radiation through double glass both in windows and in domes of the housing.
