Vegetative progeny were obtained from 46 elms (Ulmus glabra Huds.) by grafting. These grafted trees were planted in 2009 in a clone archive in forest plot 264j in the Bielsk Forest District. After one year of growth, elm clone survival ranged from 38% to 100% (89% on average). Although all clones were of similar age and were grown under similar conditions, their average height was highly variable and ranged from 99.0 cm (clone no. 9473z) to 186.6 cm (clone no. 9645z), while average root collar diameter ranged from 8.4 mm (clone no. 9473z) to 18.0 mm (clone no. 9645z). The analysis of growth, seed production and pest resistance was carried out in 24-year old clones from5 latitudinal, 4 longitudinal and 5 altitudinal ecotypes of Siberian stone pine in the clone archive. Northern and highaltitudinal ecotypes had the weakest growth, weak or absent seed production, and were also severely damaged bypests. The local ecotype had average growth and reproduction rates. We present results of an HST archive study of the star cluster NGC 3603. The color-magnitude diagram (CMD) and the radial profiles have been derived using HST-nicmos F110W and F171M images. As expected, the CMD shows that the cluster is very young (< 3 Myr) and that a significant portion of the stellar population (M < 4M⊙) is on the pre-main sequence phase. From the radial profiles, we derive a similar half-light radius for both wavebands of 0.17 pc.

The archived X-ray observations of 9 Ae/Be Herbig stars obtained on the XMM-Newton space observatory are analysed for checking the hypotheses of their X-rays formation. An analysis of the dependences of the X-ray radiation characteristics for Herbig stars on the parameters of the stars revealed a close relationship between the magnetic activity and the processes of generation of X-ray radiation from Herbig stars, as well as the possible presence of a non-thermal component of the X-ray spectra.

Abstract:

This paper examines how the Journal of the American Chemical Society (JACS) displays notices of correction and retraction, and how their status is reflected across various venues. With a corpus of 1083 editorial notices, we first show that even on the JACS website, the original source, there are mistakes and inaccuracies. Additionally, our study demonstrates some improvements in certain contexts in comparison to earlier studies, as well as significant variations between platforms (bibliographic databases and open access archives).
