Background: There is need to determine the optimal management strategy for dirty abdominal surgical wounds. The aim of this study was to evaluate the post-operative wound complications in children whose dirty surgical wounds were closed primarily, in relation to those closed by delayed primary closure. Materials and Methods: This was a prospective evaluation of children, aged 15 years and younger, who had laparotomy for peritonitis in a teaching hospital in Enugu, Nigeria. This study covered a 5-year period. The following data were evaluated: patients’ age, gender, presenting symptoms, laborat

Abstract:
Closures are a language feature supported by many mainstream languages, combining the ability to package up references to code blocks with the possibility of capturing state from the environment of the closure's declaration. Closures are powerful, but complicate understanding and formal reasoning, especially when closure invocations may mutate objects reachable from the captured state or from closure arguments. This paper presents a novel technique for the modular specification and verification of closure-manipulating code in Rust. Our technique combines Rust's type system guarantees and novel

We conducted a study to compare the rate of infection, aesthetic outcome & the wound healing time between Primary closure and Non-closure technique. Jet closure and jet support closure were first introduced by de Fernex, Ein and Ishii to solve the local isomorphism problem. In this paper we introduce two local algebras associated to jet closure and jet support closure, respectively. We show that these two algebras are invariants of singularities. We compute and investigate these invariants for some interesting cases, such as the cases of monomial ideals and homogeneous ideals. For application, we can distinguish different simple curve singularities by a finite number of jet support closures, and this number is close to the Milnor number of

ABSTRACT Initial and maximum intraluminal leak pressures of four enterotomy closures were compared. Closure patterns included a modified Gambee, simple interrupted, simple continuous, and skin staple closure. Forty-eight 3-cm enterotomy constructs were created from jejunal segments harvested from 12 dogs. Twelve each were randomly assigned to the four closure methods. Time of closure, as well as initial and maximum leak pressures, were measured and compared. The modified Gambee closure was the slowest closure to perform, with skin staple closure being the fastest. BackgroundIn 2011, inclusion of injectable medications into an expanded ESKD payment bundle prompted concerns that dialysis facilities facing higher costs might close, disrupting care delivery and access to care. Whether this policy change influenced dialysis facility closures is unknown.MethodsTo examine whether facility closures increased after 2011 and whether factors influencing closures changed, we analyzed US Renal Data System registry data to identify all patients receiving in-center hemodialysis from 2006 through 2015 and to track dialysis facility closures.
