Abstract:
The textbook contains material corresponding to the course of lectures on atmospheric chemistry prepared for students studying meteorology and climatology. The basic concepts of atmospheric chemistry are given, its gaseous components, as well as aerosols and chemical processes related to their life cycles, which are important from the point of view of the formation of the radiation, temperature and dynamic regime of the atmosphere, as well as its pollution, are considered. The main regularities of the transport of impurities in the atmosphere and the role of processes of different spatial and temporal scales in this process are presented. The concept of approaches of varying degrees of complexity used to model the transport of matter in the atmosphere, taking into account its chemical transformations, is presented. The processes in the gaseous and liquid phases that affect the chemical composition and acidity of clouds and precipitation are described. Modern methods of using information about the concentration and state of chemical compounds, including their radioactive and stable isotopes, to obtain information about the meteorological regime of the atmosphere in the present and past are considered. Meets the requirements of the federal state educational standards of higher education of the latest generation. For students of higher educational institutions studying in the field of training "Hydrometeorology".

Abstract:
Paleoindian occupations across the Southwest are known largely from surface artifact collections because relatively few in situ sites are known. Clovis is the exception, with one of the world’s highest concentrations of Clovis mammoth kills occurring in southeast Arizona (Murray Springs, Naco, and Lehner). Otherwise Clovis is thinly scattered across New Mexico, Chihuahua, and Sonora. Folsom is the most common Paleoindian projectile point type in the Southwest in terms of numbers, but is largely concentrated in the basins of the Upper Rio Grande valley in New Mexico and Colorado. Unfluted Paleoindian artifact styles are widely scattered throughout the region, but most are concentrated along the Upper Rio Grande valley.

Abstract:
This final chapter summarizes the points made in the previous chapters and closes with the vision of the project collaborators for the future, including the role they see for themselves and their community in society and on the world stage. The chapter demonstrates the interwoven nature of the four narratives explored in this book, which circulate locally, nationally, and internationally; it has examined their role in shaping the perspectives of both individuals and collectives in the Muslim community.

Crawford, Michael, and Rohina C. Rubicz. Molecular Genetic Evidence from Contemporary Populations for the Origins of Native North Americans. Edited by Max Friesen and Owen Mason. Oxford University Press, 2016. http://dx.doi.org/10.1093/oxfordhb/9780199766956.013.4.

Full text
Abstract:
An overview of the current molecular genetic evidence for the origins of North American populations is presented, including specific examples from the authors’ work with the Aleutian Island inhabitants. Shared mitochondrial DNA and Y-chromosome DNA markers among Siberians and Native Americans point to a Pleistocene migration from Siberia into the Americas via Beringia. There was likely a later migration from Siberia to Alaska, based on the analysis of whole-genome sequence data from a Greenland Paleoeskimo that clusters this individual with Siberian populations. Coalescence date estimates for Native American mitochondrial DNA and Y-chromosome DNA haplogroups indicate that there was a population expansion approximately 15,000–18,000 that was associated with a pre-Clovis settlement of the Americas and coastal migration, and then a later expansion of circum-Arctic populations. Settlement of the Aleutian Archipelago took place via east-to-west migration of Aleut kin groups, accompanied by a clinal loss in mitochondrial DNA haplotype diversity.

Abstract:
Pure mathematics provides principles, procedures, and ways of thinking that can be fruitful starting points for music composition, performance, and algorithmic generation. In this chapter, a number of mathematical methods are suggested as useful ways to define and transform underlying musical structures such as metres and scales, and to realize these structures as finished pieces of music. The mathematical methods include the discrete Fourier transform, geometry, algebraic word theory, and tiling, and the chapter explains how these relate to musical features such as periodicity (or lack of periodicity), well-formedness, microtonality, canons, rhythmic hierarchies, and polyrhythms. The chapter closes with a detailed examination of a musical piece derived from the described processes.
