Shining club moss, Huperzia lucidula (Michaux) Trevisan, can be propagated in tissue culture, but it is difficult to obtain sterile explants. When standard disinfestation methods were used, 100% of H. lucidula apical shoot-tips disinfested for 10, 20, or 30 minutes with 1% sodium hypochlorite/0.15% Tween 20 became contaminated or browned within 3 weeks. Since this club moss is highly contaminated, a stepwise disinfestation procedure was developed to eradicate spore forming microbes. The chapter underscores the critical role of integrating trade and climate law to address the systemic shortcomings of the Paris Agreement, particularly its lack of enforceability and susceptibility to free riding. It evaluates the potential of climate clubs as a pragmatic, minilateral approach to climate governance, leveraging market-based instruments like carbon pricing, border carbon adjustments, and emissio

The evaluation centers on whether products with differing carbon intensities qualify as “like” under WTO rules. Abstract:
The 1943 art exhibition at the Mountain View Officers’ Club (MVOC), Fort Huachuca, Arizona should be considered one of the most significant events in the intersection of American art, military history, and segregation. Organizers of the event, entitled Exhibition of the Work of 37 Negro Artists, anticipated it would boost soldiers’ morale because Fort Huachuca was a predominately Black duty station during WWII. This report provides a brief history of Black art in the early 20th century, biographies of the artists showcased, and provides information (where known) about repositories that have or

Croatia, the newest member of the European Union, is set to introduce the euro as its currency in January 2023. Although it was announced that Croatia had fulfilled the Maastricht criteria for monetary union membership in May 2022, the country did not meet the criterion on the general government debt rate. This paper analyses Croatia’s readiness to join the euro area beyond meeting the Maastricht criteria. While monetary union membership has its positive sides, by joining, a country loses one of the most important tools of managing its economy – monetary policy. If the economy is strong and co

The Conversion of Land Use and its Effects modeling framework (CLUE) was developed to simulate land use change using empirically quantified relations between land use and its driving factors in combination with dynamic modeling of competition between land use types. Being one of the most widely used spatial land use models, CLUE has been applied all over the world on different scales. In this document, we demonstrate how the model can be used to develop a multi-regional application. This means, that instead of developing numerous individual models, the user only prepares one CLUE model applica

The public-private collaboration (PPC) for productive development policies (PDPs) implemented in Uruguay in recent years have provided fertile ground for research. Many have achieved results that can be analyzed within the scope of their respective histories and institutional settings. The study inquires about what PPCs maximize the benefits of PDP results and minimizes rent-seeking behavior or the capture of government. In other words, it wants to disentangle how did the PPCs selected balanced these two apparently conflicting goals. The results show that some PPCs managed these matters better

Many years of significant investment into the production and adoption of productivity-enhancing technologies and practices in agriculture have not yielded the desired results. Most smallholder farmers in Africa remain trapped in poverty. Having realised that addressing production challenges alone is not enough to impact the lives of poor smallholder farmers, resources and attention have now shifted to the marketing side of agriculture. Organising farmers into farmer producer organisations (FPOs), like clubs, associations and cooperatives, has been one of the strategies aimed at commercialising
