This review summarizes both the experimental and theoretical status of cluster radioactivity. The contents are: a brief introduction, the experimental methods used and the results obtained, the theories of cluster radioactivity, cluster-decay as (cold) super-asymmetric spontaneous fission, and its fine structure. The theories studied are the unified fission models (UFM), the preformed cluster models (PCM), and the comparison between empirical and theoretical preformation probabilities. A brief discussion of other theories, not studied so much in detail, is also given. An overview of this resea

Apparently disparate experimental results have been obtained for deuterium-deuterium (D-D) fusion products from the impact of atomic and molecular cluster beams on deuterated targets. Unexpectedly high fusion rates observed with beams of D 2 O clusters in the energy range 10–1000 eV per deuteron have been a formidable challenge to theoretical physics with previous attempts to explain these surprisingly high yields being unsuccessful. A further challenge exists because the resultant models also do not explain why fusion is not observed in similar experiments with beams of D clusters. We present

AbstractWe argue that there is scholarly potential in linking theory on industry clusters with theory on value networks. To date, these two theoretical streams have developed largely in parallel, limiting understanding of how the two are integrated in practice. By considering these theories in combination and the unique context of creative industries, we generate insight on the management of clusters as value networks. Our ongoing longitudinal empirical case is a new media cluster called ‘Mediapolis’ in the city of Tampere, Finland. The case study commenced at the time the cluster was in the p

The growing phenomenon of cluster internationalization has enriched the existing international business theories, but has also brought new puzzles and problems for these theories and perspectives. To synthesize what we do and do not know concerning cluster internationalization, we employed the qualitative content analysis method, systematically reviewing 348 articles published during the period 1990–2019, as well as 16,486 references. This thesis presents a new family of single-determinantal ab initio electronic structure models ideal for the black-box computational investigation of molecular phenomena. These theories mimic Variational Coupled Cluster and achieve an approximately fulfilled variational upper bound property on the exact ground-state Schrodinger energy eigenvalue, while not exceeding the limiting computational complexity of the well-known CCSD method, and without sacrificing any other advantageous methodological property. In particular, these Approximate Vari- ational Coupled Cluster Theories are formulated th

Multireference Configuration Interaction (MRCI) is widely and successfully used for the accurate computation of molecular energies and properties when chemical bonds are broken, and in other cases of quasi-degeneracy. However, it suffers from a lack of extensivity, which introduces significant errors for large molecules. Currently feasible Multireference Coupled Cluster (MRCC) approaches, which address the extensivity issue, are complicated and expensive. In this work we investigate simple approximations to MRCC, generalising the single-reference linked pair functional theories to the multi-re

This book covers important new developments of the last five years in the area of cluster chemistry, presenting an excellent view of the successes and shortcomings of both current state-of-the-art theory and experiment. The cluster reactions reviewed in this work include electron and proton transfer reactions, hot atom reactions, vibrational predissociation, radical reactions, and ionic reactions.
