Abstract:
The clusterings of quasars and absorption line clouds have been analyzed from the viewpoint of the structure formation of the universe. It was found that the features of quasar clustering are quite different from those of galaxies. These results have already given several meaningful constraints on the structure formation, as follows: (a) quasar clustering is much weaker than in galaxies; (b) large scale structures, such as superclusters, should probably be formed after the epoch z~2; (c) the amplitude of the total density inhomogeneity seems to be less than that of galaxy distribution by at le

<p>Clustering in a data mining setting has been researched for decades. Lately, document clustering used to cluster web search engine results have recieved much attention. Large companies such as Google and Microsoft have shown their interest and we have seen the emergence of commercial clustering engines such as Vivisimo. This thesis shows how a search engine with clustering capabilities can be developed. The approach described has been implemented as a working prototype that allows searching and browsing clusters through a web interface. The prototype has been evaluated in a user survey and

Measurements of the angular correlation function and the inferred 3D-clustering are compared with results from direct spatial-correlation measurements. For the purpose of analyzing a building according to its accessibility or structural resilience, printed 2D floorplans are not sufficient because of the missing link to semantic information. Based on ageneral line clustering approach, we introduce type specific methods forwalls, windows, doorsandstairs. Theresulting clusters are in turn used for a contour c
