Can library managers be #critlib? Do articles and conversations about critical theory really lead to progressive changes in library organizations and management? Critical management studies (CMS), a subfield of management studies, calls for denaturalization of taken-for-granted management practices, reflexivity in methods, and anti-performative goals. However, worried that CMS is too idealistic and ineffective, some of its adherents have proposed a theoretical construct they call “critical performativity” (CP). Reflections on the 20th anniversary of Organization provide an opportunity for considerations of the role of the past and history in critical studies of management. Yet, why should we care? Arguably, the pages of Organization are replete with analyses that take into account the past and history. Indeed they are. However, as has been contended elsewhere, such accounts have been remarkably under-theorized for a field noted for its thoroughgoing critique of anything that moves. Nonetheless, it is not our intention to go over that ground so much as provide an appropriate example of the problem at

Abstract:
The Environmental Laboratory (EL) and the Coastal and Hydraulics Laboratory (CHL) have jointly completed a number of large-scale hydrodynamic, sediment and water quality transport studies. EL and CHL have successfully executed these studies utilizing the Geophysical Scale Transport Modeling System (GSMB). The model framework of GSMB is composed of multiple process models as shown in Figure 1. Figure 1 shows that the United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) accepted wave, hydrodynamic, sediment and water quality transport models are directly and indirectly linked within the GSMB framework.

Abstract:
Cancer survivors have unique physical, psychological, social, and spiritual health needs. These can include symptoms and side effects associated with cancer and cancer treatment, such as pain, cognitive dysfunction, insomnia, and elevated anxiety and depression. This research brief summarizes a landscape review done for the Patient Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) to develop a clear, comprehensive understanding of the state of research as of the mid-2000s. We conducted a targeted search strategy to identify projects funded by federal and commercial sources and the American Cancer S

Introducing magnesium sulphate for the management of pregnancy induced hypertension. Population Council, 2005. http://dx.doi.org/10.31899/rh16.1012.

Full text
Abstract:
Global studies have demonstrated that using magnesium sulphate (MgSO4) to manage hypertensive disease in pregnancy reduces morbidity and mortality due to severe pre-eclampsia/eclampsia, one of the five direct causes of maternal death. Many countries have been slow to introduce MgSO4 to the detriment of women’s health. There are also critical gaps in health-care provider knowledge, skills, and practice in management of eclampsia. Although the use of MgSO4 was introduced successfully to the Maternity Unit at Kenyatta National Hospital, Nairobi, in 2001, there has been no systematic introduction
