Abstract:
Abstract Under investigation in this paper are the coupled nonlinear Schrödinger equations (CNLSEs) and coupled Burgers-type equations (CBEs), which are, respectively, a model for certain birefringent optical fibers Raman-scattering, Kerr and gain/loss effects, and a generalized model in fluid dynamics. Special attention should be paid to the existing claim that the solitons for the CNLSEs do not exist. Through certain dependent-variable transformations, the CNLSEs are reduced to a Manakov system and the CBEs are linearized. In that way, some new solutions of the CNLSEs and CBEs are obtained via symbolic computation. Especially the one-dark-soliton-like solutions for the CNLSEs have been found, against the existing claim.

Abstract:
One of the most conserved cellular pathways among eukaryotes is the extensively studied classical protein nuclear import pathway mediated by importin-α. Classical nuclear localization signals (cNLSs) are recognized by importin-α and are highly predictable due to their abundance of basic amino acids. However, various studies in model organisms have repeatedly demonstrated that only a fraction of nuclear proteins contain identifiable cNLSs, including those that directly interact with importin-α. Using data from the Human Protein Atlas and the Human Reference Interactome, and proteomic data from BioID/protein-proximity labeling studies using multiple human importin-α proteins, we determine that nearly 50% of the human nuclear proteome does not have a predictable cNLS. Surprisingly, between 25% and 50% of previously identified human importin-α cargoes do not have predictable cNLS. Analysis of importin-α cargo without a cNLS identified an alternative basic rich motif that does not resemble a cNLS. Furthermore, several previously suspected piggybacking proteins were identified, such as those belonging to the RNA polymerase II and transcription factor II D complexes. Additionally, many components of the mediator complex interact with at least one importin-α, yet do not have a predictable cNLS, suggesting that many of the subunits may enter the nucleus through an importin-α-dependent piggybacking mechanism.

Abstract:
Background and Purpose: Patient care is changing rapidly with increased complexity of care, patient volumes, and financial constraints with rising health care costs and limited reimbursements. In response, the clinical nurse leader (CNL) role was developed. No appropriate instrument exists to measure staff satisfaction with the CNL role. This study describes the development and testing of an instrument designed to measure staff satisfaction with implementation of the CNL role. Methods: The psychometric properties and factor structure of the Clinical Nurse Leader Staff Satisfaction (CNLSS) instrument was examined. Results: A 2-factor solution was discovered for the CNLSS. Cronbach’s alpha coefficients were acceptable for the subscales and instrument. Conclusion: The CNLSS is a valid and reliable instrument. Future research should focus on establishing test–retest reliability and construct validity.

Abstract:
The coupled nonlinear Schrödinger equation (CNLSE) is a wave envelope evolution equation applicable to two crossing, narrow-banded wave systems. Modulational instability (MI), a feature of the nonlinear Schrödinger wave equation, is characterized (to first order) by an exponential growth of sideband components and the formation of distinct wave pulses, often containing extreme waves. Linear stability analysis of the CNLSE shows the effect of crossing angle, θ , on MI, and reveals instabilities between 0 ∘ < θ < 35 ∘ , 46 ∘ < θ < 143 ∘ , and 145 ∘ < θ < 180 ∘ . Herein, the modulational stability of crossing wavetrains seeded with symmetrical sidebands is determined experimentally from tests in a circular wave basin. Experiments were carried out at 12 crossing angles between 0 ∘ ≤ θ ≤ 88 ∘ , and strong unidirectional sideband growth was observed. This growth reduced significantly at angles beyond θ ≈ 20 ∘ , reaching complete stability at θ = 30–40 ∘ . We find satisfactory agreement between numerical predictions (using a time-marching CNLSE solver) and experimental measurements for all crossing angles.

Abstract:
AbstractThe Wigner transformation is used to define the quasidistribution (Wigner function) associated with the wave function of the cylindrical nonlinear Schrödinger equation (CNLSE) in a way similar to that of the standard nonlinear Schrödinger equation (NLSE). The phase-space equation, governing the evolution of such quasidistribution, is a sort of nonlinear von Neumann equation (NLvNE), called here the ‘cylindrical nonlinear von Neumann equation’ (CNLvNE). Furthermore, the phase-space transformations, connecting the Wigner function and the NLvNE with the ‘cylindrical Wigner function’ and the CNLvNE, are found by extending the configuration space transformations that connect the NLSE and the CNLSE. Some examples of phase-space soliton solutions are given analytically and evaluated numerically.

Abstract:
We investigate the mixed interaction solutions of the coupled nonlinear Schrödinger equations (CNLSE) through the Darboux transformation method. First of all, we derive the nonsingular localized wave solutions for two cases of CNLSE by the Darboux transformation method and matrix analysis method. Furthermore, we take a limit technique to deduce rogue waves and divide the rogue waves into four categories through analyzing their dynamic behaviors. Based on the obtained theorems, the Darboux transformations are presented to solve interaction solutions between distinct nonlinear waves. In this paper, we mainly study four types. Finally, the dynamic characteristics of the constructed these solutions are analyzed by sequences of interesting figures plotted with the help of Maple.

Abstract:
This paper introduces a constrained normalized adaptive sparse array beamforming algorithm based on approximate L0-norm and logarithmic cost (L0-CNLMLS). The proposed algorithm can control the sparsity of the array by introducing an approximate function of L0-norm. In addition, the introduction of logarithmic cost improves the stability of the algorithm as well as the convergence rate of the algorithm. The sparsity of the array can be controlled when adjusting related parameter in the proposed algorithm. Simulation results show the better performance of L0-CNLMLS compared with some conventional algorithms.

Abstract:
The paper studies the optical solitons with coupled nonlinear Schrödinger system (CNLSS) that describes the propagation of waves in birefringence polarization-preserving fibers with four-wave mixing effect. The system is discussed with the effects of group velocity dispersion, self-phase and cross-phase modulations. The mechanism that is used to investigate is the extended Fan-sub equation method. It is observed that this system exhibits a collection of rich solitons (single and combined) for different values of parameters. The 3D figures are also plotted to show the physical behavior of obtained solutions under different constraint conditions.

Abstract:
Using an additional decade of data from the National Longitudinal Survey of Youth 1979 Children and Young Adults (CNLSY), this study replicated and extended Deming’s evaluation of Head Start’s life cycle skill formation impacts in three ways. Extending the measurement interval for Deming’s adulthood outcomes, we found no statistically significant impacts on earnings and mixed evidence of impacts on other adult outcomes. Applying Deming’s sibling comparison framework to more recent birth cohorts born to CNLSY mothers revealed mostly negative Head Start impacts. Combining all cohorts showed generally null impacts on school-age and early adulthood outcomes.
