Existing knowledge is largely fragmented and has tended to lack conceptual clarity and theoretical depth of understanding. This study examined how an adaptive sailing coach learned through and from experience using a single case study methodology. It presents methodological paradigms that, while well established in social psychology, are an innovative adaptation in sport psychology.
