El virrey segundo conde de Revillagigedo produjo en la carrocería novohispana, que desde inicios del siglo XVIII vivía un rico desarrollo barroco, un cambio hacia los modelos carroceros ingleses de signo neoclásico. El virrey fue esencial en ello, tanto por el uso de coches ingleses, como por dictar una inédita legislación que trató de articular el ámbito del carruaje. Junto a Revillagigedo, destacó su carrocero, Joaquín de Castro, del que haremos un primer esbozo profesional que evidencia el enorme desarrollo del coche en Nueva España al final del virreinato.

La carrocería novohispana, surgida en el siglo XVI, tiene sus antecedentes en la carretería, vinculada a la propia Conquista, y en el envío desde España en la misma centuria de los primeros coches de caballos, lo que generalizó su uso fuera de Europa. De inmediato se hicieron también en la Nueva España, desarrollando su manufactura e institucionalizando su uso en el XVII, de forma paralela a lo ocurrido en la metrópoli, para abastecer a las elites sociales de un nuevo tipo de obra de arte con el cual proclamar de forma ostentosa su preeminencia política, económica y social. Para atender la enorme demanda de coches y sistematizar la profesión, se desgajó en 1706 del de carpinteros el gremio de carroceros de la ciudad de México, cuyas primeras ordenanzas son analizadas comprándolas con las españolas para comprender su significado.

Por varias décadas, entrelazar mecánicamente dos moléculas circulares de manera consistente no había sido nada simple. Mucho menos el ensartar de manera estable una molécula lineal en una circular. Fueron hechos fortuitos los que llevaron a dos pioneros a descubrir independientemente la manera de realizar eficientemente estas hazañas. De esta manera fueroncreados el catenano y el rotaxano. Pronto se pudo vislumbrar la aplicación de estos en el diseño de interruptores, sensores, válvulas, canales, todos deescala molecular. La máxima proeza la llevó a cabo un tercer científico construyendo un nanocoche móvil con tracción en las cuatro ruedas.

<span style="font-family: Verdana; font-size: x-small;">El trabajo en la industria es complejo. Así lo constató a principios del siglo pasado Frederick W. Taylor, por lo que se dedicó a desglosar el trabajo hasta obtener fases en las que sólo era necesario realizar una secuencia de pocos movimientos que los trabajadores tenían que practicar hasta alcanzar un máximo nivel de productividad. De esta manera, nació el concepto del "taylorismo" y en aquella época, también se afirma que Ford dijo, aunque nunca se confirmó, que el cliente podía comprar cualquier tipo de coche, siempre y cuando sea un Ford y sea de color negro. Entretanto ya no nos damos por satisfechos sólo con automóviles negros. Más bien tendemos a personalizar cada vez más nuestros coches, adquiriendo equipos opcionales como aire acondicionado, calefacción para los asientos, techos practicables, faros antiniebla, sistemas de navegación o portaesquíes. Pero, la tendencia en favor de la individualización no se limita a los automóviles. También afecta otros ámbitos de nuestras vidas, ya sean la vivienda, los muebles o la vestimenta. A todo ello se suma la exigencia de tiempos de suministro más cortos, productos de máxima calidad y precios razonables.</span>

El desarrollo sostenible —así como algunos otros relatos en la órbita de la conservación medioambiental— suele utilizarse retóricamente como recurso publicitario para mejorar una imagen de marca. En esa línea, se presenta aquí una propuesta didáctica basada en el análisis crítico del discurso de una muestra de anuncios de televisión. Se presta especial atención a la industria del automóvil, por tratarse de una actividad con enormes repercusiones medioambientales, así como por su impacto mediático y en la cultura popular. Se pone así de manifiesto que en torno al coche siguen gravitando discursos persuasivos más emocionales que racionales, como forma de soslayar el verdadero debate en torno a los desafíos sociales y ambientales actuales.

Este artigo tece considerações sobre aspectos da produção contemporânea do premiado arquiteto Paulo Mendes da Rocha através da análise de dois equipamentos culturais recentes: o ainda não concluído Cais das Artes de Vitória (2007), e o Museu Nacional dos Coches (2008-16), em Lisboa, cujas características estimulam uma leitura dialogada. Mendes da Rocha é um dos arquitetos que mais enfaticamente apoiam-se no discurso como suporte da prática arquitetônica, relação que inexoravelmente coloca-se como filtro para a análise das obras. O texto trata, então, não apenas de cotejar discurso e prática, mas o discurso na prática.

El tráfico rodado es responsable en parte de la crisis medioambiental, como volvió a demostrarse con la reducción de la contaminación en las ciudades que produjo el confinamiento decretado en los primeros meses de este 2020 para hacer frente a la pandemia del coronavirus. Sin embargo, a día de hoy los coches han vuelto a tomar las ciudades y las empresas de automoción redoblan sus esfuerzos en publicidad para aumentar las ventas. Una publicidad cuyo control está a manos de un sistema de autorregulación publicitaria que tiene limitaciones, como explicamos en este trabajo, y que, por tanto, habría de ser regulada jurídicamente de forma más amplia.

Mixed-model assembly lines are used at the automotive industry to obtain more efficient production flows. The sequencing of the different units is done at the very beginning of the process, but frequently large perturbations of the original sequence can be observed. These perturbations might be intended or not but to some extent, a resequencing process –to create a new sequence with the available units- is necessary. This paper focuses in the re-sequencing process by using parallel buffering lines (known as mix banks). Algorithms to decide the line of destination of incoming units and the line of extraction of units to the line are presented and evaluated. The algorithms and their performance have been verified using discrete event simulation software (SIMIO). An analysis considering different operations situations is done and some recommendations to real case users are presented.Keywords: Mixed-model assembly line, Car sequencing, Resequencing, Mix bank, Dynamic algorithm.Resolviendo el problema de Resecuenciación de Coches con el uso de líneas de acumulo paralelasResumen: En la industria del automóvil se utilizan líneas mixtas de montaje de modelos para obtener flujos de producción más eficientes. Aunque la secuencia de los productos en la línea se contempla en el comienzo del proceso, se suelen producir perturbaciones en la secuencia de producción. En ocasiones es necesaria una resecuenciación entendida como la creación de una nueva secuencia. Este trabajo se centra en la resecuenciación mediante el uso de líneas paralelas de almacenamiento (conocidas como mix-bank). Se proponen algoritmos para decidir en qué línea se debe introducir y de qué línea se debe extraer. Los algoritmos son verificados mediante modelos de simulación implementados en SIMIO. Se presenta un entorno docente de robótica universitaria orientado al aprendizaje práctico. Es software libre, multiplataforma (Linux, Windows, MacOS) y hace énfasis en la programación de la inteligencia de los robots. Consta de una colección de prácticas variadas, cercanas a las aplicaciones robóticas que están llegando a la sociedad recientemente (coches autónomos, drones, aspiradoras...).Utiliza el simulador Gazebo como referencia y Python como lenguaje. Para cada práctica se ha programado una aplicación académica que realiza tareas auxiliares como la interfaz gráfica, la conexión con sensores y actuadores concretos, la temporización, etc. y aloja al código del estudiante, que así se concentra en los algoritmos de percepción y control. Cada aplicación está formada por una parte específica preparada, que queda oculta, y el código del estudiante, que simplemente rellena un sencillo fichero plantilla con la lógica del robot. Se ha utilizado con éxito en varios cursos de grado, de máster y cursos de introducción a la robótica.

The aim of this paper is to explore the Montaigne's use of enargeia in three essays: ''Des Cannibales,'' ''Des Coches'' and ''De l'exercitation.'' During the French Renaissance, enargeia remained a central means by which writers transferred living experience into language. The elaborate visual possibilities offered by enargeia, encapsulated in the writings of Quintilian, were popularised in France through the diffusion of Erasmus's rhetorical handbook De diuplici copia verborum ac rerum. However, the sense of graphic presence and truth conveyed by Erasmus's handbook came to be challenged through the increasing awareness of the disparity between living experience and verbal language. In his Essais, Montaigne's awareness of the deceptive properties of visual representation allows him to explore, often playfully, the pleasures and instabilities of linguistic expression, and to gain a heightened insight into the perceptual inadequacy which characterize much human behaviour. In this way, Montaigne poignantly demonstrates the instructive nature of rhetorical theories on which he draws to illustrate his understanding of human experience.

Las grandes catástrofes en el Perú adolecen de un plan de tratamiento y adaptación a la realidad actual. Eran poco frecuentes y se limitaban a los desastres naturales como los grandes sismos, inundaciones, lluvias torrenciales, volcanes en erupción, etcétera. Al principio estos desastres se circunscribían a ciertas áreas geográficas en general, pero con el avance de la ciencia y la tecnología se han disparado de manera alarmante como los choques de ferrocarriles, accidentes aéreos, choques de autos que van a alta velocidad, y si a ello le sumamos los atentados de grupos fundamentalistas con coches bomba o lo de las Torres Gemelas. Estos hechos tienen un común denominador un elevado índice de siniestralidad y cuantiosas pérdidas materiales para un país. Con la finalidad de dar una respuesta eficaz y planificada ante los desastres de masas es que se analiza las diferentes metodologías de actuación del protocolo de la Interpol, el Ministerio de Justicia de los Estados Unidos y el BOE Español.

El trabajo muestra y analiza los ensamblajes de símbolos e imágenes mágico-religiosas que muchos taxistas de la ciudad de Buenos Aires cuelgan de los espejos de sus coches o enganchan en los parasoles. Utiliza la palabra “altares” con cautela para visibilizar estas trazas minimalistas de la vida religiosa cotidiana de los porteños, objetos que a la vez brindan protección contra los peligros de la circulación cotidiana en la calle y testimonian relaciones entabladas con seres suprahumanos específicos. En estos ensamblajes heterogéneos aparecen santos y vírgenes, santos populares y símbolos orientales y/o esotéricos –que testimonian la rica diversidad mágico-religiosa de la ciudad– así como fotos y recuerdos de individuos y colectivos sociales con alta carga de sacralidad (hijos, parientes, clubes de fútbol). Estos “altares” evidencian recorridos religiosos y familiares singulares, pero también resultan de interacciones azarosas con pasajeros y evidencian patrones más generales y poco reconocidos de cómo los porteños se relacionan con seres suprahumanos.

<p class="Resumen">Las inundaciones urbanas pueden provocar importantes daños a vehículos que, en general, no son considerados en la mayoría de estudios sobre evaluación de riesgo por inundaciones. En este artículo se propone una metodología para la estimación de los daños a vehículos expuestos a inundaciones urbanas. Se presenta inicialmente el estado de la cuestión en lo que se refiere a curvas de daños para vehículos, escogiéndose las desarrolladas por el <em>U.S. Army Corps of Engineers </em>(USACE, 2009) por ser las más recientes, mejor justificadas y presentar mayor adaptabilidad al caso de estudio propuesto. La metodología propuesta se aplica al municipio español de Badalona, en el marco del proyecto europeo H2020 BINGO. Para llevar a cabo dicha metodología se definen y aplican conceptos como la distribución vehicular en toda el área estudiada. Finalmente, se evalúa el Daño Anual Esperado (DAE) relativo a coches a partir de los daños ocasionados por eventos sintéticos de 1, 10, 100 y 500 años de periodo de retorno.</p>

En los últimos veinte años, el centro de la ciudad de Birmingham, así como su ambiente urbano se han transformado radicalmente. En los años 90 en Inglaterra se registró un cambio decisivo en el gobierno central, tanto en materia de política comercial como en la de movilidad. Se ha intentado regenerar el centro urbano promoviendo y valorizando las funciones comerciales que posee, poniendo fin al enfoque liberal que en el transcurso de los años ochenta ha alimentado la expansión de las grandes estructuras suburbanas. Se da preferencia al modelo de ciudad compacta, así como a la movilidad y sostenibilidad.La experiencia de Birmingham representa un caso paradigmático, ya que ha tenido un proceso de profunda transformación y recualificación del centro de la ciudad, para intentar convertirse en la “nueva capital europea del comercio” y su centro comercial de Selfridges como el punto de referencia del centro de la ciudad. “Centro de la ciudad compacto y comercial”, donde los coches no están permitidos en los espacios peatonales tradicionales de las calles con edificios comerciales. Estos espacios han sido “privatizados” y controlados como parte de la experiencia comercial.

<p>La creciente demanda social de nuevas aplicaciones de la robótica, desde robots domésticos a coches autónomos, confirma la conveniencia de utilizar dicha tecnología como factor motivante en el contexto educacional. Así, el presente trabajo analiza cómo canalizar esta motivación hacia fines productivos, poniendo el énfasis en las posibilidades que ofrecen los simuladores de robots submarinos. En particular, se propone un entorno de aprendizaje en la nube con un simulador capaz de evaluar al alumno como eje central del sistema. Utilizando este tipo de herramientas tan solo es necesario un dispositivo capaz de acceder a Internet a través de un navegador para alcanzar una cantidad virtualmente ilimitada de recursos. Este artículo hace una revisión crítica del informe de la AIE titulado El rol de los minerales críticos en la transición hacia energías limpias. El objetivo principal de este informe es identificar los minerales y metales clave que podrían generar problemas de suministro y cuellos de botella en una transición energética limpia. La AIE establece una serie de recomendaciones clave para la seguridad de los minerales, analizando la cantidad de diferentes materiales utilizados en determinadas tecnologías (coches eléctricos, energía solar fotovoltaica, eólica terrestre y marina, nuclear, carbón y gas natural). Dichas recomendaciones incluyen, entre otras, garantizar una inversión adecuada en fuentes diversificadas de nuevo suministro, el fomento de la innovación tecnológica o el almacenamiento estratégico. Este informe es un paso esencial para aumentar la concienciación sobre este tema, que hasta hace poco no había recibido la atención que merecía. Sin embargo, se queda corto en cuanto al impacto que la escasez de minerales puede tener en el desarrollo de las economías y del planeta. Por ello, analizamos el informe sección por sección y aportamos algunos comentarios adicionales sobre aspectos que podrían abordarse más a fondo para evitar sustituir la adicción a los combustibles fósiles por la dependencia de las materias primas.

El ruido del tráfico afecta a un gran número de personas disminuyendo su calidad de vida, especialmente en poblaciones urbanas. El tráfico llega a representar hasta el 80% de la contaminación acústica total. Es debido a esto que la Directiva Europea de Ruido Ambiental, con el fin de contar con indicadores de ruido comunes, quiere que se midan los niveles de ruido, localmente, y de esta manera poder elaborar mapas de ruido y planes de acción destinados a reducir los efectos nocivos del ruido ambiental. La regulación del tráfico, a través de la señalización semafórica, permite ejercer control en una red viaria que priorice los movimientos de vehículos en las intersecciones. Una adecuada regulación del tráfico, en base a unas óptimas políticas de control, redundará en mejoras sobre el medio ambiente, reducción del ruido y tiempos de espera. El presente trabajo, utilizó como metodología, en este caso el “Estudio Piloto del Tranvía en la ciudad de Sevilla”, donde se pudo modelar el ruido del tráfico generado por coches, el tranvía, y todos juntos; con regulaciones de paso peatonal y prioridad semafórica, y velocidades de circulación. De este estudio piloto se concluye, de las tres alternativas propuestas, que la zona que genera mayores niveles acústicos, está representada en el modelo, como la intersección de la Av. Round window membrane (RWM) application of ouabain is known to selectively destroy type I spiral ganglion cells (SGCs) in cochleas of several rodent species, while leaving hair cells intact. This protocol has been used in rats and Mongolian gerbils, but observations in the guinea pig are conflicting. This is why we reinvestigated the effect of ouabain on the guinea pig cochlea. Ouabain solutions of different concentrations were placed, in a piece of gelfoam, upon the RWM of the right cochleas. Auditory function was assessed using acoustically evoked auditory brainstem responses (aABR). Finally, cochleas were fixed and processed for histological examination. Due to variability within treatment groups, histological data was pooled and three categories based upon general histological observations were defined: cochleas without outer hair cell (OHC) and SGC loss (Category 1), cochleas with OHC loss only (Category 2), and cochleas with OHC and SGC loss (Category 3). Animals treated with 1 mM or 10 mM ouabain showed shifts in hearing thresholds, corresponding with varying histological changes in their cochleas. Most cochleas exhibited complete outer hair cell loss in the basal and middle turns, while some had no changes, together with either moderate or near-complete loss of SGCs. Neither loss of inner hair cells nor histological changes of the stria vascularis were observed in any of the animals. Cochleas in Category 1 had normal aABRs and morphology. On average, in Category 2 OHC loss was 46.0±5.7%, SGC loss was below threshold, ABR threshold shift was 44.9±2.7 dB, and ABR wave II amplitude was decreased by 17.1±3.8 dB. In Category 3 OHC loss was 68.3±6.9%, SGC loss was 49.4±4.3%, ABR threshold shift was 39.0±2.4 dB, and ABR amplitude was decreased by 15.8±1.6 dB. Our results show that ouabain does not solely destroy type I SGCs in the guinea pig cochlea.

Deposition of bone within the fluid spaces of the cochlea is encountered commonly in cochlear implant candidates and previously has been considered a relative contraindication to the use of multichannel intracochlear electrodes. This contraindication has been based on possible mechanical difficulty with electrode insertion as well as uncertainty about the potential benefit of the multichannel device in the patient. Fifteen profoundly deaf patients with partial ossification of the basal turn of the cochlea received implants with long intracochlear electrodes (11, Nucleus; 1, University of California at San Francisco/Storz; and 3, Symbion/Inneraid). In 11 cases, ossification had been predicted preoperatively by computed tomographic scan. Electrodes were completely inserted in 14 patients, and partial insertion was accomplished in one patient. All patients currently are using their devices and nine of 12 postlingually deaf patients have achieved some degree of open-set speech discrimination. This series demonstrates that in experienced hands, insertion of long multichannel electrodes into partially ossified cochleas is possible and that results are similar to those achieved in patients who have nonossified cochleas.

Guinea pig—specific cytomegalovirus and Sendai virus were inoculated into the cochleas of seronegative guinea pigs to study the route of entry of cells participating in inner ear inflammation. Inflammatory cells accumulated around the spiral modiolar vein and appeared to be streaming from this vein into the scala tympani via a collecting venule. Inactivated virus inoculated into the cochlea and normal control cochlea failed to show inflammatory cell infiltrates. The spiral modiolar vein appears to play an important role in the movement of cells from the systemic circulation into the inner ear as part of the host's normal defense against invading pathogens such as viruses.

Cat cochleas implanted with scala tympani prostheses were investigated histologically after inoculating the bullae with a suspension of group a streptococci. The prosthesis was passed through the round window membrane in one ear. In the other the prosthesis bypassed the round window via an opening anteroinferior to the round window niche. Before death, horseradish peroxidase was administered as a tracer for possible pathways of infection. Results showed that group a streptococci were pathogenic to the cat and caused inflammation in the bulla. The unimplanted round window membrane and the seals around the electrode entry points prevented infection from entering the cochlea. The seals around electrodes inserted either through the round window membrane or an opening drilled anteroinferior to the niche were equally effective. The horseradish peroxidase tracer studies showed, however, that a gap existed between the electrode and membranous seal, and this could be a potentially vulnerable site under certain conditions. Drilling an anteroinferior opening into the cochlea resulted in bony sequestra entering the cochlea. This can be avoided by blue-lining the opening and removing bone with picks before making an opening through the endosteum.

It is generally assumed that at least a minimal number of spiral ganglion cells is essential for successful speech perception with a cochlear implant. Although the insertion of a multichannel cochlear implant frequently results in loss of residual hearing in the implanted ear, this outcome does not imply that significant damage to residual populations of spiral ganglion cells has occurred. The purpose of the current study was to compare spiral ganglion cell counts in implanted and nonimplanted cochleas in 11 patients for whom both temporal bones were available and in whom a multichannel cochlear implant had been placed unilaterally. The temporal bones were processed for light microscopy by standard techniques. The cochleas were reconstructed by 2-dimensional methods. Spiral ganglion cell counts of the implanted and nonimplanted sides were compared by a paired t-test (2-tailed). The mean spiral ganglion cell counts for implanted and nonimplanted ears were not statistically different in the most basal three segments of the cochlea. However, the mean spiral ganglion cell count in segment 4 (apical segment) and the mean total spiral ganglion cell count were lower in the implanted cochleas than in the nonimplanted cochleas (p < .01). The results of this study suggest a modest decrease in the total spiral ganglion cell count in the implanted ears as compared to the nonimplanted ears, principally in the apical segment. Possible interpretations of this finding are discussed.

This study compared the effects of aminoglycoside ototoxicity and surgical ablation of the cochlea in infancy on the survival of neurons in the rat cochlear nucleus (CN). Ototoxicity was induced by a single, systemic dose of gentamicin sulfate and furosemide on postnatal day 6 (P6), P7, or P10, and assessed by the elevation of auditory brain stem response thresholds, as described in a companion paper. Unilateral cochlear removals were performed under Saffan anesthesia on P6, P9, and P12. Rats were painlessly sacrificed in adulthood, and the formalin-perfused brains and cochleas were embedded in wax, sectioned, and stained. Ototoxic treatment at P6 through P10 did not reduce neuron counts in the CN. Cochlear removal at P6 resulted in a 40% loss of CN neurons, but removal at P12 did not result in CN neuron loss. These data suggest that the critical period for the dependence of CN neurons on afferent input from the cochlea ends at the same time that susceptibility to aminoglycoside ototoxicity begins.

OBJECTIVE: In the cochlea, excitatory amino acid receptor overstimulation induces toxicity in spiral ganglion neurons by an unknown mechanism. In the central nervous system, excitatory amino acid-induced toxicity is mediated by nitric oxide, which induces apoptosis in neurons. This study tested the hypothesis that cochlear nitric oxide-mediated toxicity is the result of induction of apoptosis in spiral ganglion neurons. METHODS: The cochleas of 15 gerbils randomly assigned to different groups were perfused for 30 minutes with a test solution of 1 mmol/L sodium nitroprusside, a nitric oxide donor, or a control solution of artificial perilymph. Animals were killed at varying times, including 2, 3, 4, 8, and 18 hours after perfusion. DNA fragmentation or in situ terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase-mediated deoxyuridine triphosphate-biotin nick end-labeling analysis was done on cochleas for detection of apoptosis. RESULTS: Analysis by both techniques demonstrated marked apoptotic cell changes in spiral ganglion neurons of sodium nitroprusside-treated cochleas evident 4 to 8 hours after perfusion, as compared with minimal to no evidence of apoptosis in spiral ganglion neurons of control specimens. CONCLUSIONS: Exposure to high levels of nitric oxide induces apoptosis in spiral ganglion neurons. Because apoptosis is a delayed, potentially reversible cell death pathway, this may present an opportunity for intervention to prevent or attenuate hearing damage induced by excitotoxic stimuli.

Abstract:
The distribution of Na+,K+-ATPase was mapped in cochleas of mature gerbils with normal hearing, using a specific and sensitive immunocytochemical method. Na+,K+-ATPase was abundant in the basolateral plasma membrane of marginal cells in the stria vascularis. Considerable levels of enzyme were also associated with the surfaces of spiral ganglion neurons and their central and peripheral processes. An unexpected finding was the detection of high levels of immunoreactive Na+,K+-ATPase in three different populations of cells lying in the inferior portion of the spiral ligament and at the medial and lateral border of the scala vestibuli just superior to the attachment of Reissner's membrane. Cells in these areas shared the morphological characteristics of cells specialized for active transport but appeared to be nonpolarized, suggesting a uniform distribution of Na+,K+-ATPase over their entire plasmalemma. The presence of these three distinct cell populations in the cochlea of several mammalian species suggests that they play an important role in cochlear function, perhaps that of regulating the cation content of perilymph. The absence of discrete concentrations of Na+,K+-ATPase-rich cells in the perilymphatic connective tissue of the bird cochlea and the mammalian vestibular system suggests further that these cells may be involved with generating and maintaining the high endolymphatic potential unique to the mammalian cochlea.

Abstract:
Hearing research is important not only for clinical, professional and military medicine, but also for toxicology, gerontology and genetics. Ultrastructure of the cochlea attracts much attention of electron microscopists, (1―3) but the research lags far behind that of the other parts of the organnism. On the basis of careful microdissection, technical improvment and accurate observation, we have got some new findings which have not been reported in the literature.We collected four cochleas from human corpses. Temporal bones dissected 1 h after death and cochleas perfused with fixatives 4 h after death were good enough in terms of preservation of fine structures. SEM:The apical surface of OHCs (Outer hair cells) and DTs (Deiters cells) is narrower than that of IPs (Inner pillar cells). The mosaic configuration of the reticular membrane is not typical. The stereocilia of IHCs (Inner hair cells) are not uniform and some kinocilia could be seen on the OHCs in adults. The epithelial surface of RM (Reissner’s membrane) is not smooth and no mesh could be seen on the mesothelial surface of RM. TEM.

Abstract:
Chickens were injected with 9-micron-diameter radioactive microspheres. Cochleas were removed through the external auditory meatus, and the positions of all embedded microspheres were drawn under camera-lucida. Constant measurements of arterial pressures and postinjection blood-gas determinations confirmed that injections were made into normal circulatory systems. The averaged estimate of cochlear blood flow in chickens is 0.75 μl/min. Variability in these data from chickens is similar to that reported from mammals. A potentially important but puzzling observation is an inverse relationship between blood flow to the cochlea and to the brain. The ease of cochlear extraction makes chickens ideal models for study of cochlear blood flow.

Automóviles, coches, camiones y trenes aparecieron en Medellín (Colombia) durante las primeras décadas del siglo XX, afectando las rutinas de los habitantes que tuvieron la necesidad de usarlos, transformando así las dinámicas de la ciudad. En este proceso, hombres y mujeres se vieron involucrados en circunstancias aciagas en las que estos aparatos fueron los medios a través de los cuales se cometían atropellamientos, que podían ser calificados como delitos, extendiendo así el marco de aplicación de las leyes y obligando, incluso, a generar estrategias legales para intentar llevar coherentemente estos litigios. El objeto central de este artículo es describir las formas como se presentaron los accidentes de tránsito en el contexto señalado y al mismo tiempo relacionar este tipo de hechos con la legislación existente en aquella época y la manera como era aplicada por las autoridades al momento de generar un veredicto sobre la culpabilidad por homicidio de un conductor. Para su elaboración se tuvieron en cuenta cinco sumarios por homicidio del Archivo Histórico Judicial de Medellín, información del Archivo Histórico de Medellín y de la Colección Patrimonio Documental de la Universidad de Antioquia, artículos de la prensa local, legislación y datos estadísticos de la época.Palabras clave: crecimiento urbano, vehículos, homicidios, sumarios, leyes, modernidad, accidentalidad. Means of Transport, Traffic Accidents and Legislation in Medellín, Colombia, during the First Three Decades of the 20th CenturyAbstractAutomobiles, cars, trucks and trains appeared in Medellín, Colombia, during the first decades of the 20th century, and affected the routines of the inhabitants who had the need to use them, thus transforming the dynamics of the city. In this process, men and women were involved in unfortunate circumstances in which these machines were the means through which people were run over. Since this act was qualified as a committed crime, it was necessary to enforce the laws and even generate legal strategies for consistently attempt these disputes. The aim of this article is to describe the ways how traffic accidents occurred in the stated context, and at the same time, relate this kind of facts with the existing legislation in that time, and the way as it was applied by the authorities when generating a verdict on the guilt of murder of a driver. For its preparation five summaries were considered by murder of the Archivo Historico Judicial de Medellín, the information of the Archivo Histórico de Medellín, and the Collection Heritage Documentary of the Unviersidad de Antioquia, articles from the local press, legislation and statistical data of that time. Por que nos acostumamos a pensar as cidades para os edifícios, para os carros e não para as pessoas? Tais questionamentos fomentaram a elaboração de ACs integradoras para licenciandos(as) de História, Letras e Matemática de uma universidade comunitária. Com abordagem qualitativa, baseado em pesquisa bibliográfica, a campo e traços de pesquisa-ação as mesmas, foram vivenciadas na disciplina Sociedade, Meio Ambiente e Educação (SMAE) entre fevereiro-abril de 2018. Pretendeu-se integrar diferentes saberes, fazeres, olhares estético-sensível, envolvendo ainda, Objetivos do Desenvolvimento Sustentável. O profundo e pertinente envolvimento dos(as) licenciandos(as), a aproximação teoria-prática, as discussões-proposições para problemáticas socioambientais a partir de diferentes perspectivas, podem potencializar a inovação curricular na formação de professores(as). ¿Como actividades curriculares para cursos de formación inicial pueden ser espacio-tiempo de reflexión-acción sobre las relaciones sociedad, ambiente y educación? ¿Por qué nos acostumbra a pensar las ciudades para los edificios, para los coches y no para las personas? It was intended to integrate different knowledge, doings, looks aesthetic-sensitive, involving also, Sustainable Development Objectives. The deep and pertinent involvement of the graduates, the theory-practice approach, the discussions-propositions for socio-environmental problems from different perspectives, can potentiate the curricular innovation in the formation of teachers.
