Abstract:

Abstract:

Abstract:

Abstract:
The article presents a study of the digital ethics code phenomenon in the context of university online community functioning. The analysis of international regulatory documents governing ethical principles in the digital environment was carried out, with emphasis on «Ethically Aligned Design», «Ethics Guidelines for Trustworthy AI», and corporate artificial intelligence principles of leading technology companies. The digital ethics evolution was conceptualized through the lens of fundamental works by N. Wiener, J. Weizenbaum, and L. Floridi, who laid the theoretical and methodological basis of modern digital ethics. Based on a comparative analysis of the regulatory experience in digital ethics in Russia and Kazakhstan, the necessity of implementing a digital ethics code in the university environment is argued. A three-component methodological model of the code has been developed, integrating axiological, deontological, and praxeological aspects, aimed at forming a sustainable network communication culture of the academic community. The research contributes greatly to the development of theoretical foundations of digital ethics and offers practical recommendations for implementing ethical norms in the digital educational environment. The research results may be used in developing local regulations of higher educational institutions and improving the mechanisms for regulating online communication in the academic environment.

Abstract:
Towards the realization of a sustainable, fair and inclusive society, we proposed a novel decision-making model that incorporates social norms in a rational choice model from the standpoints of deontology and utilitarianism. We proposed a hypothesis that interprets choice of action as the X-point for individual utility function that increases with actions and social norm function that decreases with actions. This hypothesis is based on humans psychologically balancing the value of utility and norms in selecting actions. Using the hypothesis and approximation, we were able to isolate and infer utility function and norm function from real-world measurement data of actions on environmental conditions and elucidate the interaction between the both functions that led from current status to target actions. As examples of collective data that aggregate decision-making of individuals, we looked at the changes in power usage before and after the Great East Japan Earthquake and the correlation between national GDP and CO2 emission in different countries. The first example showed that the perceived benefits of power (i.e., utility of power usage) was stronger than the power usage restrictions imposed by norms after the earthquake, contrary to our expectation. The second example showed that a reduction of CO2 emission in each country was not related to utility derived from GDP but to norms related to CO2 emission. Going forward, we will apply this new X-point model to actual social practices involving normative problems, and design the approaches for the diagnosis, prognosis and intervention of social systems by IT systems.

Abstract:

Abstract:
Understanding the rights of the oncology patient. Selected deontologicaland medical aspects     The process of coping with cancer is often a lengthy one, affecting changes in the previous way   of life and its quality. The specificity of cancer is most often the high dynamics of change and the rapidly progressive nature of the cancer process, which is why time is one of the most important factors for success in oncological treatment. Hence, it seems necessary to address issues focusing on the rights of a special category of patients - those treated with oncological therapy in the context of deontological-medical challenges.   The authors point out that oncology patients have a number of rights, the protection of which is indispensable in the context of treatment of the disease. Attention is also drawn to the systemic solutions available to oncology patients - i.e. the oncology package and the Green Card for Oncology Diagnosis and Treatment (DiLO), noting the need for further legislative action to improve the actual functioning of the system. As far as deontological aspects are concerned, the authors draw attention to the importance of the so-called soft law or other directional documents oscillating around the issues in question (especially the recently adopted European Code of Conduct for Oncology 2020).   The research used a method of analysis including current studies, reports relating to the diagnosis of oncology patients. In addition, a formal, dogmatic and historical-legal method was used to identify legal issues in order to show the context of the legal and doctrinal solutions adopted in relation to the formation of the system of patient rights protection. At the same time, thanks to this method, it was noted that the pace of change in this area is not adequate to the social transformations taking place in parallel.

Abstract:
In his widely read book, Five Types of Ethical Theory (1930), C.D. Broad introduced the distinction between two approaches to ethics: teleology and deontology. In the second half of the twentieth century, these terms found their way into Christian ethics, giving rise to a problem. Christian ethics seems to be straightforwardly teleological, but it also seems to be straightforwardly deontological. In this article, I argue that the problem is largely a product of the way teleology is construed: the ends in teleological ethics are implicitly assumed to be outcomes or states of affairs. I demonstrate the point through a reading of both the early philosophical sources and the more recent works of Charles Camosy and John Perry. I then argue that major sources in the Christian tradition, including those used by Camosy and Perry, are better understood as offering a more expansive picture of teleology in which ends are not always outcomes or states of affairs. I conclude by arguing that this more expansive picture of teleology resolves some important problems that have plagued debates about teleology and deontology in Christian ethics.

Abstract:
Universities, as organizations that must compete to attract resources, faculty, and students, also strive to implement quality policies and ethical standards. This attempt to improve also involves the management of intangible assets, which to date were not considered by this type of organization (reputation, image and legitimacy). With the aim of validating whether the universities with ethical codes and deontology subjects in their study plans are also positively perceived by students and professors, we carried out an empirical study at the Rey Juan Carlos University. The results provide valuable information for decision-making and communication of the actions carried out by the university, highlighting that a greater effort is necessary so that the effort of a university to consider itself ethical translates into its positive perception in its groups of close interest.

Abstract:
The ethics is a discipline of ethics establishing the pursuit of a given profession, through treaties, principles, duties and standards at a specific group of professionals. Ethics, in turn, is the domain of philosophy that seeks the domain judgment of discretion that distinguishes good and evil, the correct behavior incorrect. In that sense, codes of are hardly separable from the professional ethics, so it is not uncommon the terms ethics and deontology are used interchangeably. The purpose of this research work aims to address the main similarities and differences of the different ethical codes of EU countries, including Portugal, Spain, France and United Kingdom, as well as demonstrate the influence of the Council European Dentists on each of the mentioned countries. We conducted a literature review of the Code of Ethics of the European Union Dentists and the Portuguese, Spain, United Kingdom and France Codes of Ethics. They have now been research them books in question. With regard to Legal Standards in general, we find that despite some differences that will be presented throughout the presentation of the work, due to the typically cultural differences, we find many similitaries, since all countries respect the highest law, in which case, the Standards European Council of Dentists.

Abstract:
Elle évoque une synergie où la position du psychologue, du neuropsychologue ou de l’orthophoniste, du linguiste, didacticien des langues peuvent se rejoindre<br>This study, with an annexe, is a reflection on the approach of aphasic subject, in his medical and rehabilitation contexts, from the very start of the diagnosis of his language disturb: the aphasia, or the loss of the acquired language, is generally a syndrome of adult subject. Based on the fundamentals of philosophy, the initial reflection evokes the difficulty of a homogeneous and satisfactory ethics, during the complex medical and paramedical course of this kind of patient, pointing some specific obstacles in the medical, psychological ethics or in the ethics of education. Then, a brief definition of the neuropsychology of language is followed by a presentation of the aphasia, a comment leaned on a mixed aphasia case study, containing a familial and a medical anamneses (Narrative medicine) and a neuropsychological balance assessment (narrative also), focused on the language, witch tends to show that, in a more or less diffuse way, the aphasic subject suffers from a lack of homogeneity on the set or part of the care chain, till the end of the long period of his language rehabilitation (at least three years), when his mother tongue became foreign language. The didactics of the languages, six-thousand-years-old, and its short history is briefly explained; it is the teaching aids proposed for the rehabilitation: the tutorage is especially conceived and adapted to the subject, showing the interest of the field of humanities and social sciences, in a course of care. The care takes into account the psychological state of the patient, his profoundly bruised identity, the neuropsychological balance assessment and the balance assessment of language. Finally, this study suggests the reality of the multidisciplinary field of medical ethics in the field of aphasiology. It expresses a synergy where the position of psychologist, neuropsychologist or speech pathologist, linguist, educationalist language can join

This investigation has the aim of analyzing the efficiency of disciplinary action applied to violations committed by journalists and media against the Deontological Code. In order to do this, it is necessary to deepen the ethical principles inherent to journalism practice, as well as deontological rules present in the corresponding Code. By way of biographical research supported by interviews of important personalities of portuguese journalism, we sought to determine which bodies, in Portugal, are responsible for its application and the reason for their lack of action in the last years. We conclude for a hopefull future where Ethics and Deontology present themselves as pilars for responsible communication and the foundations for a self‐regulation of the media fiting the 21st century.

Abstract:
This report reflects the experience of a three month internship that took place at the Observador newspaper, and seeks to express the thoughts it has given rise to. In addition to the immediate goal of developing the translation skills acquired during the Master classes, the internship also proved to be a cradle for the considerations that ultimately gave title to this report. As such, its first part presents the work context of the internship, regarding the workflow in the editorial office, the presence of the translator in that environment, his responsibilities and challenges. In the second part I address a cross-sectional topic to any particular translation activity and whose relevancy, although felt amid the field of Translation Studies, has been somewhat overlooked in the larger debate among translators; that is, translation ethics. Lastly, by making use of the idiosyncratic framework in which the internship took place, I have set forth a parallel between the ethical systems of two distinct professional areas, looking to unveil a possible deontological dialogue between journalism and translation.

Abstract:
Os sujeitos da investigação concordam e realçam a necessidade da existência de um código deontológico profissional docente, para a melhoria da ação pedagógica.<br>This mostly qualitative research study aims at disclosing the views of three political leaders in the area of education and six teachers of the various education cycles, concerning the advantages and disadvantages of the existence of a professional code of professional ethics and that of a pedagogical supervision, through a case study methodology, techniques and data collection instruments, including interviews, surveys, analysis of documents and data analysis techniques: triangulation and content analysis. Certain factors such as the changes that have occurred in society in recent years due to advances in technology and the phenomenon of globalization, have led to significant transformations in society as in education. With such developments in education, the concept of supervision has undergone an evolution over the years. Until the mid-20th century, supervision had an inspective purpose, which has also changed since the early 80s. The teachers themselves being supervisors, it is up to the school to be governed by ethical values, morals and the deontology necessary in a society which claims to be democratic. However, teachers do not have a professional code of ethics where the duties and rights guiding their professional / pedagogical practice are evident. In this line of thinking, when there is no code of conduct, do education professionals feel unappreciated? What advantages and disadvantages preclude the existence of a code? Through the present study, we can conclude that nowadays, the pedagogical supervision in classroom context aims to streamline the collaboration between teacher and supervisor in the interests of a better performance of teachers‟ professional practice. The research subjects agree to and highlight the need of a professional code of conduct to improve their pedagogical action.

Abstract:
The topic of this thesis is translation ethics. The theoretical part provides definitions of key concepts in the field of normative ethics, as well as an overview of the existing research into ethics in translation studies. Three possible ways of approaching this topic are presented and the main themes of translation ethics identified. The thesis then describes the history of codes of ethics with special attention to problems regarding these written ethical norms. With focus on their content, the thesis provides a detailed description of translators' individual rights and obligations, as defined in various codes of ethics, which deem a translator's behaviour ethical or unethical. The thesis also explores how translators can be affected by the unethical decisions of other people. The end of the theoretical part focuses on translation ethics in connection with CAT tools and machine translation. The empirical part analyses data collected through questionnaire research, the aim of which was to study translators' behaviour in ethically challenging situations. First, research methods and individual parts of the questionnaire are described. The thesis then provides an analysis of respondents' answers with a special focus on the reasoning behind their decisions. The data is compared using other information...

Abstract:
This piece of research aims to understand how social workers deal with the information users share with them in face-to-face relations, particularly when inter professional work is at stake, both in an internal and external institutional level, which leads to practices of information-sharing. Such work recalls the analysis of the concept of confidentiality, explained at the Code of Ethics, which can be linked to the communicational dimensions of the professional relation established between the individual and the social worker. In terms of methodology, this research is a qualitative study developed using participative observations (five institutions, one week of observation in each) and semi-structured interviews with six social workers. The analysis focused on the comparison between the daily activities observation and the discourses presented regarding confidentiality. The main findings are that, though the differences between institutions and professionals, the issue of confidentiality is regarded as a principle worth paying attention to. Nonetheless, further theoretical deepening of the concept should be endeavoured, mainly, in training programmes and the creation of reflective communities of support in which professionals get the chance to expose doubts and get answers for practice betterment.

Abstract:
The topic of the present thesis is professional ethics in interpreting. The thesis consists of two main parts - a theoretical part and empirical research. The theoretical part first defines ethics in terms of philosophy and introduces some key subject- related concepts. Subsequently, it focuses on professional ethics and characterizes the main documents that set out desirable standards of conduct within a certain profession - codes of ethics and codes of conduct. This general introduction is then followed by an overview of research into ethics in interpreting studies, and a brief outline of the history of codes of ethics for interpreters. The following chapters discuss ethical challenges in different interpreting settings and briefly introduce major Czech and foreign professional organizations of interpreters. The core of the theoretical part compares ten selected codes of ethics of different Czech and international professional interpreters organizations; based on this comparison, basic rights and obligations of interpreters are identified and further analysed in the empirical part. The empirical part of the thesis presents and discusses the results of a questionnaire survey focusing on selected topics of interpreting ethics discussed in the theoretical part. Abstract:
Existem temas específicos no Código Brasileiro que não estão presente no Código Português.<br>The dentistry is an area of medicine in which practitioners can perform invasive surgical procedures and prescribe pharmaceutical formulations independently from diagnoses made by themselves. The exercise of medical activities must be based on ethical principles, legal and understanding of the social, economic and cultural of the place where they exercise professionals. Therefore, the study of the Codes of Ethics and the Ethics and Professional Conduct codes are important tools in the search for this paradigm of conduct. The objective of this research work aims to compare the Code of Ethics of Dental Medicine in Portugal with the Brazilian Dentistry Code of Ethics, looking for similarities and differences. We conducted a literature review of the Ethics Code Portuguese and the Brazilian Dentistry Code of Ethics, using the codes themselves, books and articles relevant to the study. You can check that both codes are Complete. The Portuguese Ethics Code is supplemented by internal regulations of the Dental Association. There are specific issues in the Brazilian Code that are not present in the Portuguese Code.

Abstract:
One important type of proposal (originally by W. D. Ross and H. A. Prichard) for an ideal Pragmatic code is a subjectivized moral theory, a code stating that one’s duty is (for example) to do X because one believes that doing so would fulfill a promise or compensate for a past wrong. Chapter 5 distinguishes between a free-standing duty to acquire information and a derivative duty to acquire information (the latter utilizing the concept of a duty’s deontic weight), and argues that subjectivized deontological codes cannot account for the widely accepted duty (whether free-standing or derivative) to acquire information relevant to one’s future actions before acting. Mixed deontological and consequentialist codes including such subjectivized deontological duties suffer the same problem. This fatal failure shows that subjectivized codes with deontological elements must be rejected, quite independently of their failure to meet the Usability Demand.

Abstract:

Abstract:
Information Systems professionals deal daily with ethical dilemmas, which are most notorious when making decisions. Due to the importance of ethical behavior and to prevent unethical situations without full awareness of them, the development of codes of ethics and conduct for companies and communities of professionals has been fundamental. Since the creation of the first code of ethics in computing in 1972, many codes of ethics and conduct have emerged from the initiative of various societies, organizations, and associations all over the world. This article identifies and describes the structural evolution of the main codes in the Information Systems area, from the original to the most recent versions. From analyzing the codes, the following results were obtained: (1) codes of ethics and codes of conduct are the most common code types; (2) the codes are directed mainly at all members of the entities (without differentiation); (3) the evolution of codes is related to the changing of descriptions of conducts, the changing of the structure of documents, and in many cases there is an increase of the number of conducts of ethical behavior in the newer versions of the codes.

Abstract:
The purpose of this study is to analyse the codes of ethics and university deontology in order to identify the rules for the use of information technology. In the introductory part of the study, there is highlighted the importance of observing these rules by the university teachers. From a theoretical point of view, there are provided the characteristic elements of the code of ethics and university deontology and there are specified concrete examples of rules of the use of information technology included in the codes of ethics in the university field at international level. At the basis of the code of ethics there is a set of principles and norms that the members of the academic community agree to respect them. The research methodology is qualitative, focused on the use of content analysis. The codes of ethics of 38 universities from Romanian education were analysed to identify the rules for using information technology. Content analysis of the themes related to the rules of the use of information technology is performed based on the indicators derived from the theoretical part. The results of the analysis led to the fact that there are few explicit rules regarding the use of information and communication technologies included in codes of university ethics. It is recommended to introduce specific rules in order to raise awareness of the importance of respecting these rules by university teachers and students. Therefore, the university codes of ethics will be reconsidered from the perspective of the development of information technology.

This paper will focus on the role of librarian professional deontology specifically the activity of a librarian, in the development and delivery of quality information products. University libraries create quality informational products to support the educational and research process, using successfully ICT. The institutional repositories contributes to the promotion of the results of scientific research, increasing the prestige of the educational institution in a national and international aspect, and provides access to published scientific production. At the same time, the development process of the repository in terms of technology and content requires librarians to have specific professional skills for archiving and indexing the received documents. In accordance with the Code of Ethics, the librarian implements and ensures compliance with the principle of continuous professional development, participating in training and improvement programs, professional meetings, scientific and cultural activities organized by libraries or other institutions. At the same time, the librarian’s professional deontology presupposes librarians’ self-training and their responsibility for their own training. The success of the university library activity oriented towards the needs of the users involves two conditions: access to quality information services and products, on the one hand, and well-trained and highly qualified librarians, who deepen and constantly update their specialized knowledge and skills, necessary for the exercise the functional attributions it has, on the other hand. Library professionals should earn status and reputation based on their professionalism and ethical behavior.

Because of that, and the positive statistics that assure the importance of honest communication, I decided to look at the Hungarian legislative and ethical environment. Firstly I analyzed the bioethical background through deontology and consequentalist theories to better understand the moral aspects of honesty. Secondly, I examined the accurate general legislative provisions of informing the patients, to clarify that not all details that are considered general apply to subsequent information. Lastly, I looked at the relevant sections of the Act CLIV of 1997 and the Code of Ethics of the Hungarian Medical Association to see the depth of the information.

Teachers are moral agents. Acting professionally in loco parentis teachers have a legal and moral duty of care to students (DES, 2017). Moreover, they can be regarded as moral ‘role models’ (Bergen, 2006; Lumpkin, 2013). Professional codes of practice assist teachers in their moral agency (Alberta Teachers’ Association, 2004; CDET, 2017; DfE, 2011; Education Council, 2017; Teaching Council, 2012; 2016; World Class Teachers, 2017). In conjunction with official codes of conduct, TE ethics programmes contribute to the development of “a moral language” and raise awareness of moral agency in teaching (Shapira-Lishchinsky, 2010). In 2014 the National University of Ireland, Galway (NUIG) and the Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology (GMIT) jointly developed a cross-institutional training programme entitled ‘The Ethical Teacher Programme’, designed to facilitate student teachers to reflect upon professionalism and ethics during School Placement. The programme incorporated both a study of the Teaching Council Code of Professional Conduct for Teachers (Code) (2012) and explorations of selected ethical ‘case studies’ in teaching, using collaborative learning (CL) and role play strategies. The ‘ethical dilemma’ approach employed mirrored literature studies (Colenerud, 1997; Husu &amp; Tiri, 2003; Klassen, 2002). Unique to the approach, however, was the method of application of selected classical and contemporary ethical philosophies to moral dilemmas in teaching. The programme was designed to include a one-hour introductory lecture on professionalism and ethics (from the perspectives of moral literacy and ethical theory) followed by a two-hour applied workshop. The workshop employed student-centred, active teaching and learning methods, specifically, collaborative learning, role play and case study analysis. Six ethical philosophical principles (or ‘lenses’) were integrated into programme delivery - teleology, deontology, virtue ethics, justice ethics, care ethics and relationality ethics. These lenses were applied to real-world teaching case studies. One cohort to which this training programme is offered annually is the student teachers on the Professional Master of Education (PME) programme in NUIG. The PME cohort (2015-2016) is the focus of the present study. The study sought a critical reflection on, and evaluation of, this training programme, from a student perspective. This study is phase one of a larger on-going study.
