e24064 Background: For the constellation of neurological disorders known as chemotherapy-induced neuropathy, mechanistic understanding, and treatment remain deficient. This might be due to the fact that studies on the effects of chemotherapies on the nervous system have utilized experimental models that exclude cancer perhaps due to the presumption that chemotherapy alone explains the neuropathology. However, the convergence of cancer and chemotherapy on the same biological processes seems likely to yield non-linear interactions. This led us to hypothesize that clinically relevant neuropathy e

Determination of tumor infiltrating lymphocytes as well as specific subpopulations could reveal cytotoxic potential. Additionally, changes in stromal composition and fibrosis could also reflect potential cellular interactions with the tumor lesions. In this study we validate these two findings as potential prognostic factors. Methods: A retrospective cohort analysis of patients with advanced lung adenocarcinoma treated in a reference

Despite the sustained worldwide increase in the burden of cancer in the past decade, there is a paucity of evidence regarding cancer survivorship pertaining to patient needs across the Gulf countries. Abstract Background: Codependence is a form of relationship addiction, described as a “disease of lost selfhood.” Codependence among primary caregivers adversely impacts treatment outcomes in Alcohol Dependence Syndrome (ADS) patients. Personality traits of the caregiver may also influence codependency and its severity. However, in routine clinical practice, codependence among primary caregivers of alcoholic patients is not assessed and addressed. This study aimed to identify codependence among caregivers of ADS patients and determine its association with personality traits in various subgroup

To provide insight into the subclonal architecture and codependency patterns of the alterations in Waldenström's macroglobulinemia (WM), we performed single-cell mutational and protein profiling of eight patients. A custom panel was designed to screen for mutations and copy number alterations at the single-cell level in samples taken from patients at diagnosis (n=5) or at disease progression (n=3). Results showed that in asymptomatic WM at diagnosis, MYD88L265P was the predominant clonal alteration, while other events, if present, were secondary and subclonal to MYD88L265P. In symptomatic WM,

Our recent preclinical study provides new insight into a condition impacting the severity of chronic CIND. We find that sensorimotor disability observed following cancer treatment exceeds that attributable to chemotherapy alone. A possible explanation for intensified disability emerged from evidence that codependent effects of cancer and chemotherapy amplify defective firing in primary sensory neurons supplyin

Abstract Background Olaparib targets the DNA repair pathways and has revolutionized the management of metastatic castration resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC). Treatment with the drug should be guided by genetic testing; however, published economic evaluations did not consider olaparib and genetic testing as codependent technologies. This study aims to assess the cost-effectiveness of BRCA germline testing to inform olaparib treatment in mCRPC.
