To determine whether the accelerated rate of lobe weight gain during severe pulmonary edema is attributed to increased permeability of the microvascular barrier or a loss of tissue forces opposing filtration, the effect of edema on capillary filtration coefficient (Kf,C), interstitial compliance (Ci), and the volume of fluid filtered after a step increase in microvascular pressure (delta Vi) were determined in eight isolated left lower lobes of dog lungs perfused at 37 degrees C with autologous blood. This paper presents the results of an experimental study of the external heat-exchange with a tube bundle in a bidisperse fluidized bed with marked bimodality of particle size distribution. The dependence of the maximum heat-transfer coefficient on the rate of air filtration was determined. The influence of the mass fraction of large particles on the heat-transfer coefficient in a mixture has been established. An interpolation dependence for calculating the optimal filtration rate of the investigated mixtures has been obtained. It is recommended to use the average surface diameter of the polyd

The main task of soil stabilization is to change their physical characteristics in order to strengthen them. Among the main characteristics of stabilized soil, there are no requirements for its filtration. Meanwhile, the filtration coefficient is an important parameter characterizing the permeability of soils in relation to water filtration at full saturation, numerically equal to the filtration rate at a unit pressure gradient. This article is devoted to the study of the filtration coefficient depending on the loads applied to the material. In filtration theory, it is classical to solve problems with a constant filtration coefficient. Moreover, due to the conditionality of the filtration coefficient value by various physical and chemical processes, both in the solid fraction and in the liquid, its value is usually determined empirically. However, it is obvious that depending on the loads applied to the material, the pore space and filtration coefficient will change. This is especially true when using various filter m

Summary Injectivity decline of oilfield injection wells is a widespread phenomenon during seawater/produced-water injection. The decline may result in significant cost increase of the waterflooding project. Reliable modeling-based prediction of injectivity-index decrease is important for waterflood design as well as for the planning of preventive injected-water treatment. One of the reasons for well injectivity decline is permeability decrease caused by rock plugging by solid/liquid particles suspended in the injected water. The composition of this primitive urine is the consequence of the ultrafiltration of plasma depending on renal blood flow, on hydrostatic pressure of glomerular capillary, and on glomerular coefficient of ultrafiltration.
