Panel data analysis has become an important tool in applied econometrics and the respective statistical techniques are well described in several recent textbooks. However, for an analyst using these methods there remains the task of choosing a reasonable model for the behavior of the panel data. Of special importance is the choice between so-called fixed and random coefficient models. This choice can have a crucial effect on the interpretation of the analyzed phenomenon, which is demonstrated by an application on research and development spillover. Abstract:

Abstract:
The knowledge of phase equilibrium is essential for the planning and realisation of separation processes in chemical engineering. In this work an equipment for measurement of precise isothermal vapour–liquid equilibria (VLE) using the dynamic method was developed. The pool of experimental data for cyclohexylamine was extended significantly. Isothermal VLE were measured in 3 binary and 4 ternary systems, liquid-liquid equilibria (LLE) were measured in 4 ternary systems and in one quarternary system, in each case for two temperatures, whereas in 2 ternary systems and in the quarternary system ev

Vegetation is commonly modelled as emergent arrays of rigid, circular cylinders. However, the drag coefficient (CD) of real stems or trunks is closer to that of cylinders with a square cross-section. In this thesis, vegetation has been idealised as square cylinders in laboratory experiments with a turbulence intensity of the order of 10% which is similar to that of typical river flows. These cylinders may also represent other obstacles such as architectural structures. This research has determined CD of an isolated cylinder and cylinder pairs as a function of position as well as the average dr

Abstract:
This thesis aims to increase photovoltaic (PV) panel power efficiency by employing a cooling system based on water circulation, which represents an improved version of water flow based active cooling systems. Theoretical calculations involved finding the heat produced by the PV panel and the circulation water flow required to remove this heat. A data logger and a cooling system for a test panel of 20W was designed and employed to study the relationship between the PV panel surface temperature and its output power. This logging and cooling system includes an Arduino microcontroller extended wit
