Treatment guidelines for low back pain (LBP) advocate the use of cognitive behavioural approaches, typically delivered by physiotherapists. This thesis explores the role of physiotherapist competence in the delivery of these approaches. A systematic review of the literature found an absence of tools appropriate for the assessment of competence in delivering cognitive behavioural (CB) approaches in LBP. A consensus study was undertaken with experts and a new competency tool was developed with good psychometric properties. This competency tool was then used to explore the relationship between co

Abstract:
A cognitive behavioural treatment program for chronic lower back pain was designed, implemented and evaluated. The outpatient treatment program included education sessions, goal setting, graded activity training, physical exercise, relaxation training, cognitive techniques, social skills training, and medication reduction. Three participants volunteered to participate in the eightweek treatment program. Of the three participants, only one completed the program successfully. The results were used to critically discuss and evaluate the literature. The successful participant showed significant im

L’objectif de cette étude est de rechercher les facteurs qui sous-tendent les comportements politiques chez les étudiants. L’approche développée est cognitive et conative. Abstract:
Depression, anxiety, and stress are responsible for an overwhelming number of mental health care visits, and cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) is the most common empirically supported treatment for these conditions. Yet little is known about the effectiveness of CBT with African Americans, Latinos, Asian Americans, and Native Americans — ethnic and racial groups conprising nearly half of the U.S. population. In this volume, Chang, Downey, Hirsch, and Yu show therapists how to adapt cognitive behavioral treatments for use with racial and ethnic minority clients. Contributors demonstrate how a cl
