Abstract:
The Ptolemaic bronze coinage of the 2 nd century BC has recently been re-studied. The newly attributed dates to the series allow us to shed new light on the Corinth 1948 hoard and to compare it with other contemporary or later hoards. The Illyri-an hoards show tha

The reverse of a Ptolemaic coin (inv. no. 904/2006) excavated in the House of Aion at Nea Paphos, Maloutena (Cyprus) bears a representation of a standing draped male figure holding a long sceptre and a phiale, with a star above. The paper sums up the discoveries of delta–epsilon issues of the Roman emperors Elagabalus and Severus Alexander, altogether 102 coins representing small and medium change (a detailed tabular catalogue is attached), from excavations at various sites in Cyprus, as well as several dozen coins of unknown provenance in museum collections.
