Abstract:
110 uropathogenic Escherichia coli (UPEC) strains were screened for colicin production and 42 (38%) of the tested UPEC strains were found to be colicinogenic. The ColA, ColB, ColD, ColE2, ColE3, ColE4, ColE5, ColE6, ColE7, ColIa, ColIb, ColK, ColN, MccB17, ColS4, MccC7 and ColE6-J colicin producer strains from Pugsley’s collection of colicinogenic strains were lysed by all colicinogenic UPEC strains, the ColM and ColE1 producer strains by 93% of the UPEC colicinogenic strains and the ColV producer strain by only 81% of the UPC colicinogenic strains. 67% of the colicinogenic UPEC strains were able to lyse all 20 used coli- cin producer strains and 33% of the colicinogenic UPEC strains were able to lyse 19 Pugsley’s strains. Hence, a majority (67%) of the studied UPEC strains encode and produce either more than one colicin, or a colicin not tested. Colicins of UPEC strains producing only one colicin were identified; 8 strains(19% of the colicinogenic strains) produced only ColV, 3 strains (7%) ColM and 3 strains (7%) ColE1. Plasmids were found in 88% of the colicinogenic strains. 11 DL strains were found to harbour conjugative plasmids encoding antibiotic resistance(s) and colicinogenicity. Further, 19% of the haemolytic UPEC strains and 44% of non-haemolytic strains were also colicinogenic, 28% of the cnf encoding strains and 41% of the strains not encoding cnf were colicinogenic, while 40% of ibeA encoding strains and 38% of strains not encoding ibeA were colicinogenic.

Abstract:
Archaeologists in the Lower Mississippi Valley have generally assumed that corn, beans, and squash provided the subsistence stability and the surpluses necessary for the development of complex, stratified polities which existed during the Coles Creek period. Recent research indicates that maize was probably not an important part of the diet until after this time. Therefore, the introduction of maize-based agriculture had little impact on the formation of chiefdoms in Coles Creek culture. In this regard Coles Creek is different from early Mississippian; it is a distinct adaptation to the highly productive environment of the Lower Mississippi Valley.

Abstract:
In Australia, Coles and Woolworths are the two primary participants in the grocery sector. They split about 80% of the whole retail market for groceries. In Sydney, one of Australia's major cities, Woolworths launched new food kiosks in 1924, while Coles opened the country's first supermarket in 1960. Coles and Woolworths consistently share most of the market in the Australian supermarket industry, which is known as a "duopoly." Between Coles and Woolworths and its retailers, there has been an imbalance of market power for the last few decades (suppliers). Numerous studies indicate that Woolworths and Coles conduct business in 840 and 741 supermarkets, respectively, in Australia. However, regardless of the three variables, these essential players can only locate a suitable company in the competitive and non-competitive market. The factors are buying power, selling power, and retail chain. This duopoly, dominated by the two big business groups, can potentially serve each retail product, including ready-to-eat foods, fresh food, and other essential retail products. This short article is concerned with the strategic analysis of the two big players in the Australian market, irrespective of environment, socioeconomic, politics, various usable tools, techniques, rules, and regulations. Swot analysis, the Five force model, value, rarity, imitability, and organization (VRIO) have been reviewed and discussed for both the market leaders. The past, present, and future potentialities also have drawn in the article with the snaky diagram and analytical tables. In conclusion, profit margins are obtained due to successful differentiation, which enables the company to demand even higher prices. Additionally, it promotes customer loyalty, which contributes to the financial stability and growth of the business.

Two soybean (Glycine max) lines differing in resistance to Phomopsis seed decay were evaluated in field trials, over 3 yr, for time and incidence of pod and seed infection caused by Phomopsis longicolla, Diaporthe phaseolorum var. caulivora and D. p. var. sojae. Pod infection increased linearly with time but OX615 averaged 15% less than Coles at each sample date. Seed infection increased curvilinearly in conjunction with decreasing seed moisture with marked increases between the fifth and seventh weeks after flowering. At maturity, average seed infection was 69% in Coles and 28% in OX615. Key words:Glycine max, soybean, resistance to Phomopsis seed decay

Abstract:
Brassica rapa is grown in northwestern Spain to obtain turnip greens. The tops of the same plants (flower stems with buds) are cut and sell as turnip tops, increasing the value of the crop. This practice could be extended to other brassicas. The objectives of this work are to study the phytochemical potential of tops of coles (Brassica oleracea) and leaf rape (Brassica napus) compared to turnip tops and to compare tops of different coles (cabbage, kale, tronchuda cabbage), which differ in their morphology and use. We evaluated the content of glucosinolates and phenolic compounds and the antioxidant capacity in leaves and tops of the three species. We found that tops had higher amount of glucosinolates than leaves. Phenolic content and antioxidant capacity followed the opposite trend. Therefore, consumption of leaves and tops are complementary, since both type of organs are enriched with different types of compound. Local varieties of kale, curly kale, cabbage and curly leave cabbage are interesting because of their GSLs and phenolic content and antioxidant capacity in both leaves and tops. From the human health perspective, tops of coles and leaf rape are interesting as new crops to include in the diet.
