Abstract:
This article describes the optimal design of a flat-plate solar collector with fins, based on the minimum entropy generation criterion. The design parameters were optimized, considering entropy generation due to heat transfer and airflow. The latter has not been considered in previous works. The flat plate in the collector is assimilated to a finned heat sink. The dimensionless entropy generation variation is analyzed to increase values of the number of fins, as well as for different plate thicknesses and heights. We also considered variations in airflow velocity. Our data shows that airflow velocity greatly influences entropy generation. Values other than the optimum found, caused a considerable growth of total entropy. For a collector area of 4 m2, and an outlet temperature of 50°C, the optimum parameters that minimize the entropy generation rate were: 9 fins on each side of the collector plate, a height of 5 x10-2 m, a thickness of 25x10-3m, and an air velocity variable between 0.015 and 0.046 m/s. This development is relevant to the design of flat plate solar collectors, for grain drying applications.

A Study of the Qin-ding Xie-yun Hui-ji(Collected Works on Adapting Rhyming by Government Ordinance) is the rhyme book which Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty commanded the officials of Si Ku Quan Shu Hall to compile it. They collected a lot of Xie-yun materials from Chin Dynasty to Ming Dynasty. The materials can be divided into two categories, rhyme patterns and annotations. The former are special rhymes of authors in all the past dynasties; the latter are annotations on ancient books. Qin-ding Xie-yun Hui-ji was completed in Ching Dynasty. About three quarters of adapting rhyming indicate the sources and another a quarter of them do not, but also can find relevant poetry and literature. Pei-wen Yun-fu was a standard of rhymes when officials of Si Ku Quan Shu Hall compiled Qin-ding Xie-yun Hui-ji. If rhymes did not fit Pei-wen yun-fu or did not include in it, all of them were included in Xie-yun. The paper arranges rhyme patterns of Qin-ding Xie-yun Hui-ji to know the scope of Qin-ding Xie-yun Hui-ji and observe the number of authors in each era and the number of works. I hope that I can have a clear grasp to obtain materials. In Qin-ding Xie-yun Hui-ji, the highest proportion of adapting rhyming which indicates the sources is Yun-pu, but both of the books still have different explanations for the same character. After arranging and comparing, I thought it relates to “the classification of Xie-yun” of both books. In addition, Kuang-yun is also included in Qin-ding Xie-yun Hui-ji. After I arrange the relevant materials, I thought it relates to the rhymes which do not include in Pei-wen-yun-fu and characters with the same shape, different rhymes and near meanings which exist in Kuang-yun. Finally, I use the data of Tung-tung Xie-yun, Tung-Chung Xie-yun, Sung-sung Xie-yun and Wo-wo Xie-yun to be examples then arrange the principles of Xie-yun of Qin-ding Xie-yun Hui-ji.

Abstract:
In recent years it is well known that models based on the local condition hypothesis give significant correlations for the prediction of CHF (Critical Heat Flux), using only few local variables. In this work, a study was carried out to develop a generalized CHF correlation in vertical round tubes with uniform heat flux. For this analysis, a CHF database that composed of over 10,000 CHF data points, which were collected from 12 different sources, was used. The actual data used in the development of this correlation, after the elimination of some questionable data, consisted of 8,951 data points with the following parameter ranges: 0.101 ≤ P (pressure) ≤ 20.679 MPa, 9.92 ≤ G (mass flux) ≤ 18,619.39 kg/m2s, 0.00102 ≤ D (diameter) ≤ 0.04468 m, 0.03 ≤ L (length) ≤ 4.97 m, 0.11 ≤ qc (CHF) ≤ 21.42 MW/m2, and −0.87 ≤ Xe (exit qualities) ≤ 1.58. The result of this work showed that regardless of various flow patterns and regimes that exist in the wide flow conditions, the prediction of CHF can be made accurately with few major local variables: the system pressure (P), tube diameter (D), mass flux of water (G), and true mass flux of vapor (GXt). The new correlation was compared with 5 well-known CHF correlations published in world literature. The new correlation can predict CHF within the root mean square error of 13.44% using the heat balance method with average error of −1.34%.
