Abstract:
The taxonomy of the freshwater crabs of Mt Kenya and the Aberdare Mountains in central Kenya, East Africa is revised based on a large collection of previously unreported material. Three species belonging to the genus Potamonautes MacLeay, 1838 (Potamonautidae Bott, 1970) are recognized from the region and redescribed. Potamonautes jeanneli (Bouvier, 1921) and P. odhneri (Colosi, 1924) are both resurrected from synonymy and P. alluaudi (Bouvier, 1921) is recognized as a valid species rather than as a subspecies of P. suprasulcatus (Hilgendorf, 1898). All three species are endemic to the Central

Abstract We are reporting for the first time the presence of the hermit crab Pagurus chevreuxi (Bouvier, 1896) (Paguridae) in the Canary Islands. This finding is based on the collection of three individuals and the sighting of several additional specimens on the coast of Lanzarote. The collection, at coordinates 28°55′N, establishes a new southern distribution limit for this species. The species’ geographical distribution aligns perfectly with the typical Atlanto-Mediterranean biogeographic pattern, which is characterized by benthic species showing a clear affinity for warm-temperate waters.

Three species of Saturniidae (Hemileucinae), all belonging to Periga Walker, 1855, are recognized as new and are described as: P. paranapiacaba sp. nov., P. faustinoi sp. nov., and P. intervales sp. nov. The Periga gueneei species-group is proposed to accommodate P. gueneei (Lemaire, 1973) and the new species P. intervales sp. n. described here. The status of another Saturniidae species is revised: Automeris intermedius (Bouvier, 1929), stat. rev., which is removed from the synonymy with A. nubila Walker, 1855. In 1885, Sarato created Nisto as a new genus of slipper lobster and assigned two species to his taxon, namely Nisto laevis and N. asper. Bouvier later regarded these two species as post-larval stages of Scyllarus arctus (Linnaeus, 1758). This viewpoint of two post-larval stages has been accepted and retained, including being cited in the most recent scyllarid literature.
