A curation and conservation survey of palynological material in the former British Petroleum Microfossil Collection is presented. The history of processing, slide preparation and storage of slides and residues in this 'industrial' collection is documented. The current conservation state of the collection suggests that good preparation techniques are critical to the long-term stability of palynology slide collections. The long term retention of duplicate residues is essential, providing a safeguard against damage or decay to original slides.

A simple method of 1-2 hours technique to prepare permanent collection slides is described and illustrated (normally the slide preparation takes 1-2 weeks). The method may be recommended for cases when the express identification is needed: in quarantine and plant protection services, and as an auxiliary method in molecular and applied investigations, to prove reliability of the species identification after years and future taxonomic changes. The method includes killing, fixation, processing in glycerin, and preparation of slides using an Eppendorf tube at high temperature (60-95 °C).

The Harvard mycologist Roland Thaxter collected and studied a wide variety of fungi. Although he described >1000 fungal species, he was unable to describe all the specimens he collected before his death in 1932. His collections and microscope slides remain an important resource for studying fungal diversity at the Farlow Herbarium at Harvard University. Thaxter described three species in the obligate mycoparasite genus Syncephalis: S. pycnosperma, S. tenuis, and S. wynneae. He retained slide mounts of several other species, including a new species from his collection that was not described.

The dissertation aims to propose methods to facilitate the SDR methods when the response can be missing. The first part of the dissertation focuses on the seminal sliced inverse regression (SIR) approach proposed by Li (1991). This article reads Fred Moten’s collection B Jenkins as literalizing the poetic appeal to the mother tongue to reveal its mediated essence. Approaching its first and last poems in terms of Friedrich Kittler’s techno-psychological history of the family casts Moten’s detuning of natural language in terms of cultural mastery streaked with affirmative disfluency. With the ‘cant’, slang slides towards a broader awareness of the limits of knowledge. There, language may emerge for perceiving the role of the technological mother tongue in our post-national age.

We studied 200 samples of histological microslides of paramphistomid species Paramphistomum ichikawai Fukui, 1922 from cattle and sheep, from the Parasite Collection of the VNIIP – FSC VIEV. Of these, only 15 slides (7.7%) had morphologically informative medial sagittal histological sections ("M.S.H.S.") in their series. Novák Literary image of a journey to Asie in 1926–1927 Traveller and writer Archibald Václav Novák (1895–1979) rose to fame in the 1920s as the author of popular nov els and short stories inspired by a stay in Tahiti and the United States of America from 1919 to 1921. Abstract:
Usually, when collecting longitudinal OCT slices (slices roughly perpendicular to the surface of the retina), an OCT has to be assisted by a scanning laser ophthalmoscope (SLO), a fundus camera or a simple CCD visualisation unit to guide the selection of the image to be taken. Quite often, the procedure has to be repeated several times to locate some features in the retina. With a system as described in this paper, once a collection of transversal (roughly parallel to the retina) OCT images is stored, a longitudinal image at any position can be synthesised.
