ABSTRACT The current state of the profession of clinical exercise physiology in the United States is that of evolution. Individuals now identified as clinical exercise physiologists (CEPs) first emerged in health care in the nascent cardiac rehabilitation programs in the late 1960s and have remained strongly identified in that role ever since. However, the profession has had difficulty expanding into other similar areas, largely due to the lack of standardized academic preparation. This chapter firstly aims to introduce the notion of sports sponsorship and the effect it has on the commercialization of products and services with society and, more importantly, its use by companies to project a positive image associated with their brand and objectives. Secondly, the chapter explains the various measurement and evaluation tools available for efficacy transmission of image in sponsorship. It provides a process model for the implementation of the sport sponsorship model based on Irwin and Asimakopoulos (1992) and later adapted by Karg (2007). Finally, the chapter compares sports sponsorship investment in Chile with more advanced countries such as Spain and the United States and how companies allocate funding towards sports with the aim of increasing their brand in associated markets.

These changing demographics have tremendous implications for the way marketers understand both the marketplace and consumer behavior. Intentionality, specificity, and intersectional approaches to diverse sport's history are key in successfully providing millennial students with the cultural competence required to become first-rate global marketers. Sport provides marketing educators and students a unique opportunity to examine cultural diversity in a way that ameliorates diversity fatigue from underexposed students. The pervasive effects of change leadership may be best illustrated by examining institutional engagement and student experience, two areas that directly affect alumni giving. Alumni donor participation may be understood by focusing on student experience and engagement, and higher education administrators can benefit from understanding the influence of alumni donor behavior through enriching college experiences. The study examines data of alumni giving at three different institutions in the southeastern United States to determine the impact of the Carnegie Community Engagement Classification and reclassification on the purposeful institutionalization of community engagement and service-learning. The purpose of this chapter is to provide an overview of the institutionalization of service-learning process, practical strategies for implementing system-wide change, and relate those practices to its influence on alumni donor behavior – information that are practical and highly useful that can facilitate positive changes for institutions.

Abstract:
This paper examines the technological level of 74 counties in technologically advanced states in the United States at the end of the 1990s. The conceptual framework is that selected socioeconomic dimensions influence the level of technological development for advanced communities; i.e., technology does not develop by itself but in concert with pre-disposing characteristics of the environment. The influence of socioeconomic factors was studied through correlation and regression analysis. The findings reveal that, on a national basis, factors that are important across several technology sectors are college education, ethnicity, income, and federal grant funds. There are distinctive influences for high-tech counties in the “rust belt” versus the “sunbelt.” Taken together, the results highlight the association of socioeconomic factors with the per capita magnitude of the technology sectors. The findings are discussed relative to research literature and data collected, and policy and ethical implications are presented.

The aim of this chapter is to examine the utilization of total quality management (TQM), ISO 9000, and Lean concepts in the management processes of civil engineering consulting firms. The history of management theory and the existing literature related to total quality management, ISO 9000, and Lean concepts as applied to the civil engineering profession were reviewed. Also, the practical application of these concepts in civil engineering firms' operations and the extent that academic courses in these topics are offered were analyzed. The study is based on internet research and interviews with civil engineering managers and college professors. The results show that while the literature strongly endorses the utilization of these management concepts, the actual use is little known in the professional business of civil engineering. Also, in general, undergraduate civil engineering academic programs in the United States do not offer specific courses, which cover these concepts in their curriculums.
