Abstract:
Chuck holders are widely used for jobs with high precision. A chuck holder consists of a nut with a tapered surface and a thin-slotted clamping sleeve typically made of hardened steel and named a collet. Chuck holders are, essentially, wedge mechanisms. In this paper, we investigated the reactions and strains due to the forces during the chip removal process in the contact elements or jaws of the collet by means of mathematical analysis. Deflections in the jaws of the collet arise with a high influence from the precision of the workpieces. The cutting or process forces cause an axial force, a radial force, a torsional moment, and a bending moment on the chuck collet, and, consequently, displacements and inclinations of the clamping system are caused. Therefore, the proposed analytical models are based on elasticity and contact theories. The mathematical model for determining the deflections of the clamping system force was developed and implemented using MATLAB. The results showed that the variation in the clamping force during rotation in a collet chuck holder mainly depends on the stiffness of the collet chuck holder and the stiffness of the workpiece. The results indicated that the collet should be vulcanized to minimize the deformations that affect the final product. The deflections of a collet chuck holder due to process forces depend strongly on the clearances, wedge angle, and stiffness of the collet.

Abstract:
In precision machining, expanding mandrels are used for jobs with close tolerances. An expanding mandrel consists of a tapered arbor or shaft, with a thin-slotted clamping sleeve or collet made of hardened steel. The internal tapered and external cylindrical surfaces are ground to a high degree of accuracy, and the mandrel expands to fit the internal bore of the workpiece. Expanding mandrels are, essentially, wedge mechanisms. This paper proposes an automatic expanding mandrel with a novel force transmission system for high stiffness within a novel air sensing system, which allows detection of the correct part position before starting machining. A computational model for determining the dynamic clamping force of the proposed mechanism is developed and implemented using MATLAB. This model considers the influence of the stiffness behaviors of the collet, force transmission structure and workpiece. Additionally, this paper presents the finite element method analyses which were conducted to check the proposed computational model. The amount of clamping force transmitted by a collet chuck holder depends strongly on: clearances, wedge angle, stiffness of the collet chuck holder and workpiece stiffness.

Abstract:
The mechanical performance of the cable is directly related to the electrical performance of the cable, and even affects the safety, reliability and durability of the whole charging process. Electric vehicle charging cable is different from the traditional wire and cable, which has higher requirements for the mechanical properties of the cable. In this paper, the tension test is carried out on the insulation or sheath of the cable. By observing the phenomenon of "slipping" and "end breaking" in the process of the test, the structure of the flat push collet is optimized. It can be seen from the comparative test analysis that the improved chuck mechanism has a great effect on improving the test accuracy and reliability

Abstract:
The objective of this work is to improve dry and wet machining of CFRP. For dry machining the focus lies on the development of a collet chuck exhaust system. This should achieve a higher CFRP-particle collection efficiency which renders further exhaust systems and additional exhaust times unnecessary. For wet machining, the objective is to analyze the influence of cooling lubricant on the tool wear, the machined quality and the bonding strength of CFRP.

Abstract:
In this study, dynamic characteristics are determined based on the impulse response method, the correction of discretization errors and the identification of equivalent physical parameters, as found in the vibration model having one degree of freedom. In the experiments, the test tool is cylindrical bar shaped and made from solid tungsten carbide, and four toolholders with chucking mechanisms, including the shrinkfit type, collet type, hydraulic type, and press-fit type, are used. Since it had been previously confirmed that one of the tool preparation jigs had dynamic characteristics similar to those of an actual machine tool’s spindle, the dynamic characteristics of the jig could be measured the way the spindle system is measured in this study. From the experimental examinations, the following were clarified. (1) Chucking of the tooling system enhances the first mode vibration of the spindle system markedly. (2) The type of tool chuck used changes the dynamic characteristics of the spindle system. The trend in the dynamic stiffness corresponds well with that in the equivalent damping coefficient but is opposite to that in the equivalent stiffness. (3) The magnitude order of the dynamic characteristic parameters of the spindle system corresponds well with the inherent values of the dynamic characteristic parameters of the toolholders themselves; that is, the inherent dynamic characteristics of the tooling system can be used as the criteria to estimate the effect on the dynamic characteristics of the spindle system.

The article discusses the characteristic tendency of modern mechanical engineering to increase the concentration of technological operations on multi-purpose machine tools and intensify cutting modes. We give the analysis of machine parks of various metalworking enterprises, which showed the prevalence of milling and boring machines. This article analyzes the reasons for a wide range of tool systems for milling-boring machines and considers the influence of the diversity of the tool system on the dynamic characteristics of multi-purpose machines. We considered an example of a medium-sized tool system typical for milling and boring machines, which includes a collet chuck, a collet and a milling cutter. We give calculations of accuracy and stiffness for various versions of the instrumental system. In order to confirm the obtained theoretical calculations, we carried out experimental studies in real production conditions when processing a serially manufactured part on a VMC-600 multi-purpose milling machine. The results of experimental data processing showed that the accuracy of the tool system significantly affects the geometric accuracy of the machined part, vibration resistance of the tool system and its rigidity. The low accuracy of the tool system leads to a significant squeezing out of the cutting tool at the recommended cutting conditions, which can exceed the machining tolerance, which should be taken into account at the design stage of the technological process by understating the cutting conditions

Abstract:
Prefabricated construction has gained increasing popularity to meet the needs of rapid city development in recent years. Installation quality check is a critical task in prefabricated construction, and currently mostly still carried out manually, which is slow and ineffective. To provide an efficient and practical quality check method to replace the current manual method, this paper elaborates on an approach for checking prefabricated wall panels using laser scanning. The approach is validated in an actual case study. A common laser scanner BLK 360 is adopted to collect onsite 3D scenes after panel installation. The point clouds collected are co-roistered, classified, and segmented. Geometric parameters such as angles and distances allow for determining whether the installation meets the quality requirement. The outcome is compared with the quality check results using the conventional manual method. The results show that the panels, which need rectification, are correctly identified by the proposed approach. The major contribution of this study is determining the set of segmentation parameters to be adopted in similar quality check-up procedures. A practical and efficient quality check process is also proposed and can be readily implemented for certain prefabricated elements in many construction cases.

Abstract:
The development of Web 2.0 technologies has meant that online social networks can both help the public facilitate sharing and communication and help them make new friends through their cyberspace social circles. Generating more accurate and geographically related results to help users find more friends in real life is gradually becoming a research hotspot. Recommending geographically related friends and alleviating check-in data sparsity problems in location-based social networks allows those to divide a day into different time slots and automatically collect user check-in data at each time slot over a certain period. Second, some important location points or regions are extracted from raw check-in trajectories, temporal periodic trajectories are constructed, and a geo-friend recommendation framework is proposed that can help users find geographically related friends. Finally, empirical studies from a real-world dataset demonstrate that this paper's method outperforms other existing methods for geo-friend recommendations in location-based social networks.

Abstract:
In the tourism sector, user-generated information and communication among tourists are perceived to be more effective and reliable contents. In addition, the collection of dynamic tourism information with high spatio-temporal resolution is required to provide comfortable tourism in response to the changing tourism style with the advancement of information technology. Participatory sensing, which can collect various types of information is a useful method by which to collect these contents. However, continuous participation of users is essential in participatory sensing, and it is one of the most important points to stimulate participation motivation. In the tourism situation, we also need to pay attention to the total tourist satisfaction of participants. In this paper, we adopt gamification, i.e., the implementation of game design elements in real-world contexts for non-gaming purposes, for participatory sensing as an incentive mechanism to motivate participants with active participation and collect the necessary information efficiently. Within the framework, where points are given when completing the requested sensing task (=mission), two sensing missions with different burdens; Area Mission and Check-in Mission, and three different types of rewarding mechanisms; Fixed, Variable and Dynamic Variable, are designed as a gamification mechanism. We implemented these elements in the proposed participatory sensing platform application and conducted an experimental case study with 33 participants at an actual tourist spot: Kyoto, Japan. Then, we investigate the effects on tourist behavior and satisfaction by analyzing collected sensor data, mission logs, and post-survey answers. As a result, we can conclude the following: (1) the tourist behavior is changed due to the proposed gamification design and the necessary information was collected efficiently; (2) the participants tend to prioritize Check-in Mission over the sightseeing, which can induce a behavior change but might impact sightseeing enjoyment.

Abstract:
As social networking has spread, people started sharing their personal opinions and thoughts widely via these online platforms. The resulting vast valuable data represent a rich source for companies to deduct their products’ reputation from both social media and crowds’ judgments. To exploit this wealth of data, a framework was proposed to collect opinions and rating scores respectively from social media and crowdsourcing platform to perform sentiment analysis, provide insights about a product and give consumers’ tendencies. During the analysis process, a consumer category (strict) is excluded from the process of reaching a majority consensus. To overcome this, a fuzzy clustering is used to compute consumers’ credibility. The key novelty of our approach is the new layer of validity check using a crowdsourcing component that ensures that the results obtained from social media are supported by opinions extracted directly from real-life consumers. Finally, experiments are carried out to validate this model (Twitter and Facebook were used as data sources). The obtained results show that this approach is more efficient and accurate than existing solutions thanks to our two-layer validity check design.

Abstract:
Unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) systems are heavily adopted nowadays to collect high-resolution imagery with the purpose of documenting and mapping environment and cultural heritage. Such data are currently processed by programs based on the Structure from Motion (SfM) concept, coming from the computer vision community, rather than from classical photogrammetry. It is interesting to check whether some widely accepted rules coming from old-fashioned photogrammetry still holds: the relation between accuracy and ground sampling distance (GSD), the ratio between the vertical and horizontal accuracy, accuracy estimated on ground control points (GCPs) vs. that estimated with check points (CPs) also in relation to their ratio and distribution. To face the envisaged aspects, the paper adopts a comparative approach, as several programs are used and numerous configurations considered. The paper illustrates the dataset adopted, the carefully tuned processing strategies and bundle block adjustment (BBA) results in terms of accuracy for both GCPs and CPs. Finally, a leave-one-out (LOO) cross-validation strategy is proposed to assess the accuracy for one of the proposed configurations. Some of the reported results were previously presented in the 5th GISTAM Conference.

Abstract:
The problem of synthesizing adequate inductive invariants lies at the heart of automated software verification. The state-of-the-art machine learning algorithms for synthesizing invariants have gradually shown its excellent performance. However, synthesizing disjunctive invariants is a difficult task. In this paper, we propose a method k++ Support Vector Machine (SVM) integrating k-means++ and SVM to synthesize conjunctive and disjunctive invariants. At first, given a program, we start with executing the program to collect program states. Next, k++SVM adopts k-means++ to cluster the positive samples and then applies SVM to distinguish each positive sample cluster from all negative samples to synthesize the candidate invariants. Finally, a set of theories founded on Hoare logic are adopted to check whether the candidate invariants are true invariants. If the candidate invariants fail the check, we should sample more states and repeat our algorithm. The experimental results show that k++SVM is compatible with the algorithms for Intersection Of Half-space (IOH) and more efficient than the tool of Interproc. Furthermore, it is shown that our method can synthesize conjunctive and disjunctive invariants automatically

Abstract:
Asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) were used extensively throughout much of the 20th century and can still be found in many Australian homes. Therefore, we developed a mobile application (“app”), called ACM Check, which guides users through a home inspection to identify and assess certain types of in situ ACM. A cross-sectional study was conducted using the app to collect data on the type and condition of in situ asbestos in Australian residential settings. Since being released in June 2017, we have received data for 702 home inspections. Of these, 578 (82.3%) houses contained a total of 1895 in situ materials categorised as positive for asbestos by the app. The most prevalent ACMs were used for the backing board to electrical meter boxes (50% of homes), eaves and soffit linings (44.2% of homes), and fencing (28.1% of homes). While the majority of ACMs were categorised as ‘very low’ or ‘low’ priority for removal or remediation, 6.6% of all ACMs were considered to be of ‘high’ priority. Mobile apps offer a platform to help increase people’s awareness of possible health hazards found in the residential environment, such as asbestos, while also being used to collect data for public and environmental health research.

Abstract:
Purpose: This paper aims to define a new protocol, whereby brings the required preparations for the bank to collect its claim or its customer’s claim through withdrawal from the debtor’s account in other banks and financial institutions that have signed the protocol. Design: According to this protocol and under central bank supervision, the bank (as owner or attorney of the third party) as claimer of check, promissory note, bill, or a debt initiated by customer's commitment based on collaterals or guarantees, withdraws the claim from the debtor’s accounts in other banks and financial institutions that are members of the protocol through Automatic Clearing House (ACH). Findings: Despite taking collaterals, guarantees, and binding of contracts, executive debt collection process through the legal proceedings is a major challenge that banks, financial institutions, and persons are facing. The legal and execution process of debt collection through collaterals and guarantees are complicated, lengthy, and costly. Interbank Withdrawal Protocol (IWP) solves the problem by proposing a protocol to be accepted by banks to permit withdrawal of the account of the debtor in other banks. Practical implications: It is seen much that a person owes a lot to a person or bank, but s/he deposits her/his money at her/his accounts in other banks. The Interbank Withdrawal Protocol (IWP) is an agreement between banks which permits the bank to collect the debt through online-withdraw from the accounts of the debtor at other banks after depleting the account of the debtor at the agent bank. Social implications: This protocol increases reliance and security upon commitments and provides fast settlement and debt collection without time-consuming judicial process. It also reduces judicial proceedings and execution of active files in courts and consequently related costs. Originality/value: Complementary systems in Rastin Banking have been designed to solve the prevailing problems of banking and financial activities. IWP was designed to provide necessary arrangements for fast, clean debt collection and encashing check and collecting the bill. JEL: L86, L87, G21, G24
