One of the best available methods to study land-atmosphere CO₂ exchange, i.e., CO2 fluxes, is the eddy covariance (EC) technique, which results in continuous long-term time series of half-hourly CO2 fluxes. Philosophers of science have long realized that it is not possible to decide which scientific theory is true just by relying on their empirical adequacy. That theories should possess other virtues in order to be accepted by the scientific community is well understood. Nevertheless, empirical adequacy remained as having a privileged value among these virtues. In this thesis I argue that scientific theories are accepted or rejected on the bases of an evaluation of their degree of coherence. That colors have a moral value is clear in the hierarchy which many societies apply to colors. Cultures often oppose colors with white, regarded as colorless. Abstract:
Millions of people contract malaria each year. The WHO currently promotes artemisinin-based combination therapy for treating uncomplicated malaria, but this may be more difficult for patients to correctly adhere to than other treatments. Packaging a course of treatment in units of a single dose may be a more effective way of ensuring that patients take the correct dosage, and thus of increasing treatment success. In this approach, drugs to be taken together are packaged adjacent to each other, sometimes with colours or other markers to show that the drugs should be taken together.
