This paper investigates the synergy of combining SETAR(200) and MA(50) rules in ten U.S. and Chinese stock market indexes. It is found that the SETAR rule performs better in the U.S. market, while the MA rule performs better in the Chinese market. In addition, we find evidence that a new strategy combining the two rules together is able to create synergy. AbstractExistential rules are Datalog rules extended with existential quantifiers in rule-heads. Three fundamental restriction paradigms that have been studied for ensuring decidability of query answering under existential rules are weak-acyclicity, guardedness and stickiness. Towards the identification of even more expressive decidable languages, several attempts have been conducted to consolidate weak-acyclicity with the other two paradigms. However, it is not clear how guardedness and stickiness can be merged; this is the subject of this paper. A powerful and flexible condition, called tame

We present evidence for the regular behaviour of the Boyle temperature TB in gaseous binary mixtures of small molecules with negligible multipolar moments. We use this regularity to construct a new combining rule for the prediction of the cross interaction u12(r) in those mixtures. The combining rule gives TB of the cross interaction as the harmonic mean of the Boyle temperatures of the pure components. The validity of this harmonic rule is based on experimental data of 28 binary mixtures, whose TB have been obtained from experimental data of the cross virial coefficient B12(T). In determining

The problem of detection of this class of attacks is transformed to time series prediction problem. SQL queries are used as a source of events in a protected environment. To differentiate between normal SQL queries and those sent by an attacker, we divide SQL statements into tokens and pass them to our detection system, which predicts the next token, taking into account previously seen tokens. Flotation is an important separation process used in the mining industry. The process is based on hydrophobizing a selected mineral using an appropriate surfactant, so that an air bubble can spontaneously adhere on the mineral surface. The bubble-particle adhesion is possible only when the thin film of water between the bubble and particle ruptures, just like when two colloidal particles or air bubbles adhere with each other. Under most flotation conditions, however, both the double-layer and dispersion forces are repulsive, which makes it difficult to model the rupture of the wetting films us

In Muʿtazilite reading, it was endorsed due to a theory of knowledge which states that knowledge is a connection or relation between the knower and the object known. Avicennists accepted it due to the rule that in a proposition “s is p” if p is something positive s has to be positive and real too.
