The paper looks at the recent implementation of e-learning in distance education at the Academy of Economic Studies at a time when e-education is becoming an increasingly popular, and significantly less costly, training option all over the world. After considering the various advantages and disadvantages of e-learning compared to traditional education methods, it points out the benefits of combining technology-mediated learning with class-room activity even in distance education, in keeping with the specific cultural characteristics of a predominantly Romanian student population that still nee

Mathematics (math) is one of the logical and practical academic disciplines, which is one of the basic competencies in engineering. Despite that, some students have difficulty to learn math, which is determined by several cognitive and emotional factors. Math anxiety is one of the emotional factors that causes learning difficulties in math. Many students experience anxiety, fear, tension, or discomfort when faced with math, what affect students’ achievement. Math anxiety can be caused by several factors: lack of appropriate math knowledge, learning strategies, application of math in real life,

ECIU University is an EU-funded European University initiated by a network consisting of 13 universities across Europe. At its core is collaborative learning and research on a European level in close connection with various stakeholders to tackle societal challenges. Learners are engaged in joint project work based on the approach of challenge-based learning (CBL). Here, learners are actively involved in a real and relevant setting. Teams are composed of learners coming from different cultural backgrounds, disciplines, and levels of progress in their individual studies. A challenge within the

This paper discusses the importance of competences for filling vacancies at the tertiary level of education in the field of HR. We analysed the expected competences for the human resources profile with the required tertiary education, which were listed in employers' job advertisements from 2017 to 2019 on the portal of the Slovenian Employment Service. The list of competences was self-assessed by the final year students of the HR education systems at the University of Maribor, Faculty of Organizational Sciences in order to find out to what extent they actually developed the competences. This interdisciplinaray work combines expertise in engineering and entomology in Israel and the US, to develop an acoustic trap for mate-seeking female medflies. Medflies are among the world's most economically harmful pests, and monitoring and control efforts cost about $800 million each year in Israel and the US. Efficient traps are vitally important tools for medfly quarantine and pest management activities; they are needed for early detection, for predicting dispersal patterns and for estimating medfly abundance within infested regions. Early detection facilitates rapid response to invasio

Chemical signaling between beneficial or pathogenic bacteria and plants is a central factor in determining the outcome of plant-microbe interactions. Pectobacterium and Dickeya (soft rot Erwinias) are the major cause of soft rot, stem rot, and blackleg formed on potato and ornamentals, currently with no effective control. Our major aim was to establish and study specific bacterial genes/proteins as targets for anti-virulence compounds, by combining drug design tools and bioinformatics with experimental work. The approach allowed us to identify and test compounds (small molecules) that specific

The outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted the education sector in unprecedented ways. As with many other countries around the world, the Ethiopian government closed schools following the first identified case in the capital city, Addis Ababa, on the 16th of March 2020. Across the country, these closures resulted in more than 26 million learners staying at home for almost eight months (UNESCO, 2021). In addition to this hiatus in their education, pupils were promoted automatically to the next grade with only 45 days of catch-up classes (Ministry of Education, 2020). In other words, those
