The conduct of free and fair elections was a cornerstone of democratic governance, and in Nigeria, this required a concerted effort between federal and state governments. This paper adopted a descriptive contextual analysis to explore the necessary level of interaction between these governmental layers to ensure electoral integrity, with a focus on the 2023 presidential election in Nigeria. The contextual analysis method involves examining the electoral framework, historical election data, government policies, and stakeholder interactions. Ignoring the characteristics of various types of differentiated integration is a common problem in scientific research, which leads to uncertainty and incorrect conclusions. The Commission on Sustainable Development (CSD), the intergovernmental body set up to review the implementation of Agenda 21, is in more than one way crucial for the future development of the United Nations system. In these policy areas, two integration processes can be distinguished. First, environment and development initiatives have to be taken into account in all other areas of policy and law-making, including such important fields as foreign policy and nationa

The four areas that have received European support are compared in an attempt to delineate the impact of the European Community on territorial restructuring and on the nature of the policy process. Territorial relations during the 1980s in Belgium were in a state of rapid transformation. Nowhere in Western Europe has the national government been weakened to the same extent. Chapter 7 discusses the Commission’s pathway to legitimacy, as it moved from a rigid interpretation of the “one size fits all” rules of the European Semester to an increasingly flexible one. The chapter begins by analyzing the Commission’s powers, diminished by the Council’s increase in intergovernmental decision-making but enhanced by its ever-growing oversight responsibilities and discretionary authority, and its quandaries with regard to throughput legitimacy. These stem from the countervailing pressures from Northern Europe calling for more rigid rules application, and from Southern Europe

Although CFSP was officially an intergovernmental pillar, the European Commission came to play an important role. There were serious attempts to strengthen the security and defence aspects of the CFSP in the face of the threats that faced the EU from instability in its neighbouring territories. However, the EU remains far from having a truly supranational foreign policy and its status as a ‘power’ in international rel

Because diplomatic protection by a State to persons necessarily extends beyond its territory, its exercise has potential ramifications for the sovereignty of other States. Certain rules have therefore emerged to avoid the uncomfortable situation where States submit legal claims as a strategic tool in international relations.
