Abstract:
Ecumenical word-wide diaconia and the lessons we can learn from it Since 1948 the involvement of churches in ecumenical diaconia has become one of the most significant trends of modern church history. The most important agent of protestant Christianity in this field is the Commission of Inter-Church Aid, Refugee and World Service of the World Council of Churches (CICARWS). A brief look at the history of CICARWS shows that a shift of emphasis took place from charity to justice, from individual to community and from development to revolutionary changes of social, political and economic structures.

Abstract:
Since the late 1970s, an increasingly global coalition of churches and nongovernmental organizations has pressed for reduction if not outright cancellation of the foreign debt of highly indebted poor countries, because of its deleterious impact on poor people. The movement achieved limited yet substantial success in the Jubilee 2000 campaign. In it, the movement invoked a biblical prescription of periodic debt relief to urge the international community to mark the millennium by recognizing a period of “jubilee” for heavily indebted poor countries, in which government debts would be cancelled and freed up resources used to alleviate poverty. The Catholic Church made a crucial contribution to the movement, through the involvement of its personnel, justice and peace offices, social service agencies, academic and research institutions, national bishops’ conferences, Vatican agencies, and Pope John Paul II. The essay traces the moral arguments the church made for debt relief, with a particular focus on two influential statements: those of the Vatican's Pontifical Justice and Peace Commission in 1987, and the U.S. Catholic bishops’ conference in 1989. By stimulating discussion of the ethics of debt among senior policymakers, the church's efforts strengthened the legitimacy of the claim that excessive debt servicing was unjust. Zambia is offered as a case study of church and coalition efforts to press not only for debt cancellation, but also for measures to ensure that freed-up resources be used effectively for poverty reduction, and that debtor governments contract new debt in a transparent manner.

Abstract:
South African Christian churches have been widely recognised as major civil institutions that play a role in the provision of social services to complement the state effort. But the concern is there has been an increase in the number of disputes involving leadership succession in these churches that have had to be adjudicated by the civil courts in the last decade. These disputes impact on the governance, growth, reputation and sustainability of churches. The South African Commission for the Promotion and Protection of the Rights of Cultural, Religious and Linguistic Communities (CRL Rights Commission) identifies weak or lack of effective succession planning in the governing policies of churches as the major cause of these disputes. Against this backdrop, this article analyses some specific cases to explore how church policies influence succession disputes in South African churches. It further explores how the courts engage and interpret the governance policies of churches in the resolution of these disputes. The article reveals that the findings of the CRL Rights Commission are justified. It observes that, among other issues, some churches lack effective and workable succession planning in their governing policies. The policies on leadership succession of these churches are poorly drafted, thereby creating significant lacunae and vacuums leading to conflicts. The article concludes by identifying some lessons that churches can learn from the judicial approach in the resolution of disputes in order to enhance the quality of church policies, thereby reducing their exposure to succession disputes.

Abstract:
In 1890, the General Assembly of the established Church of Scotland appointed a Commission on the Religious Condition of the People, with instructions to carry out a comprehensive review of the state of religion and morals in the country. The aim was to determine the reasons for non-attendance at church services and for the Church’s declining social influence. The Commission visited the presbyteries, and issued a series of reports between 1891 and 1896. These revealed widespread irreligion, non-attendance, intemperance, and vice. Among the most disturbing revelations, however, were the high levels of illegitimacy in many regions of the country. Sexual immorality, according to the report for the synod of Galloway, in the south west of Scotland, was ‘a rampant sin in the district, and makes a dark blot on the moral life of [the] community’. In the Presbytery of Strathbogie, in the north east, sexual misconduct ‘has so permeated family life, and is so prevalent in the community, that it is difficult to arouse a healthy and vigorous public opinion against it’. The problem seemed to lie in the nature of ecclesiastical discipline within Scottish Presbyterianism. The mode of administering discipline’, the Commission observed in its final report, in May 1896, at present fails to impress the community; it fails to promote repentance in offenders; and it may be asked whether, thus failing, it is not a hindrance rather than a help to the cause of morality. To the more sensitive and delicate in feeling who have yielded to temptation there is a natural repugnance in being obliged to face the minister and elders. … To those who have no such delicacy, the ‘standing of the session’ is little regarded.

Abstract:
The issue of religious pluralism becomes a hot topic for discussion among Christian theologians. The ecumenical views pluralism as a good bridge to respond to the differences in faith amid pluralism. Thus, there is a term of pluralists. Pluralism is considered the right step for the church to present God's shalom in the middle of the world. The pluralist paradigm affects their view of God's mission and the practice of the mission. The mission is not about proclaiming the Gospel but looking at the truth and salvation that God has provided for other beliefs. Thus, the practice of preaching the Gospel is replaced by dialogue and social service. This is in contrast with the Great Commission of Jesus Christ which emphasizes the proclamation of the Gospel of Christ as the core of God's mission.

Abstract:
Abstract Although violence over Northern Ireland's constitutional position has largely subsided, the problem of sectarian animosity between sections of the Protestant Unionist British and Catholic Irish Nationalist population remains. One such area of communal contestation is attitudes to Protestant parades, organized mainly by the Orange Order. For many Protestants, Orange Order marches are legitimate cultural, religious, and political expressions of Protestant culture, loyalty to the British Crown and a pro-United Kingdom position. For many Catholics, the Orange Order is seen as a sectarian and anti-Catholic organization, which prohibits its members marrying Catholics or attending Catholic Church services. The Parades Commission was established two decades ago to adjudicate on Orange Order parading routes. Its decisions have sometimes involved re-routing marches away from Catholic areas and the inability to satisfy both sides has been followed by riots on several occasions at the annual height of the Protestant “marching season.” This article examines levels of support or antipathy toward Orange Order marching rights among Protestants and Catholics. Drawing upon evidence from the most extensive recent study of public opinion in Northern Ireland, the 2015 Economic and Social Research Council general election study, the piece tests the importance of demographic, religious, political, and geographical variables in conditioning attitudes towards Orange parades.

Abstract:
Emigrants arriving in New Zealand in the 1840s who had some architectural training were rarely able to find full‐time employment in that profession. Some sought to make a living in related fields where their drafting skills could be used (as artists or surveyors); others changed completely to become farmers or real estate agents. A few sought civil service positions or moved into politics. The most persistent bided their time in other employment but moved back to architecture when conditions became more favourable. Here we describe a number of examples of these categories. Edward Ashworth arrived in Auckland in 1842. Unable to find architectural work, he taught drawing to the Governorʹs children and also produced several paintings of early Auckland. Henry St Hill arrived in Wellington as the New Zealand Companyʹs Architect ‐ but followed a career as magistrate and sheriff. W Robertson practised as an architect in Auckland from 1847 ‐ but also advertised as a real estate agent. S Kempthorne arrived in 1842 as a church architect but did not adapt well to New Zealand conditions and fell out of favour with Bishop Selwyn. By 1864 he was Secretary of a Public Buildings Commission. Reader Gillson Wood, famous or infamous for New Zealandʹs first parliament building, the "Shedifice" in Auckland, became a well‐known politician ‐ but returned to practising as an architect several times during a long career. William Mason thought he was coming to New Zealand as Colonial Architect in 1840. Downgraded to Superintendent of Public Works, he resigned after two years. Mason then moved into auctioneering and farming for the next ten years before returning to architecture and, later, a highly successful career in Dunedin. T O'Meara of Wellington claimed to be an architect but was probably a builder. Either way his drafting ability was found to be wanting when he forged a series of government debentures and tried to pass them for payment. (This resulted in a ten‐year jail sentence, with transportation to Tasmania). We also explore some of the social reasons for the apparent lack of work for early skilled architects, including the slow‐growing economy, immediate needs for basic shelter/food production and major differences in building material resources compared with settlersʹ countries of origin.

The article presents the participation of the Częstochowa clergy in the so-called patriot priests movement. It gives the number of priests belonging to the District Commission of Priests in Katowice, the District Commission of Priests in Łódź, the Commission of Catholic Intellectuals and Activists, the Commission of Catholic Clergy and Lay Activists, it brings closer the motives of their involvement, the functions they performed in central and regional structures, it characterizes the forms of political and social activity. The 'patriotic priests' from Czestochowa actively participated in all propaganda actions concerning, among others, the so-called 'struggle for peace'. They also condemned, according to official rhetoric, the activities of the Church Caritas and sat on the new provincial boards established by the communists. They joined the fight to establish permanent church administration in the so-called Recovered Territories. They condemned the priests accused in the trial of the Krakow curia and spoke positively about the decree of the State Council of 9 February 1953 concerning the filling of church posts. They supported, and often themselves actively participated in social actions, e. g. sowing, harvesting, threshing, anti-potato beetle actions. The catechists instilled in the youth a respect for the state authorities, a love of work and the need to make an effort to implement the 6-year plan. An important aspect of their activity was writing and participation in the work of national councils at the provincial and district level.

Abstract The GMIM Synod Youth Services Commission is part of the ministry of the Evangelical Christian Church in Minahasa in the Province of North Sulawesi. In its service under the auspices of the Evangelical Christian Church in Minahasa (GMIM) the Youth Services Commission specializes in providing services to teenagers aged 12-16 years according to the administration of the GMIM church. With the current technology, the GMIM Synod Youth Services Commission has developed a sistem to assist the implementation of each activity or program implemented in the form of an Integrated Activity Information Sistem (SIKAT). The development of this Information Sistem has not been widely known by adolescents and youth coaches so that in practice there are still congregations or coaches who have not used this sistem. Therefore, the development of this information sistem needs to be followed by training on how to use an integrated activity information sistem (SIKAT), so that in the implementation of the GMIM Synod Youth activities all can be recorded properly through the sistem that has been built. Abstract:
The traditional way of conducting church service is being challenged in the face of the COVID-19 global pandemic. This essay ponders the reality of worship as a digitally mediated experience and its effect on the church's mission. The church’s adaptability to current trends is crucial to its survival and relevance, especially under present realities. The online church community is not a new phenomenon in ecclesiology, but one that has become urgent to embrace and adopt because of the prevailing circumstances. The internet and online worship services present both opportunities and challenges for “mission.” For effective online ministry, the mission should be culturally relevant and biblically faithful. Therefore, the church will need to explore utilizing anthropological tools in its missiological praxis. This study draws on ethnographic observation and analysis of three different online church communities and interrogates how these churches fulfil the Great Commission. The authors contend that the church should let the two sides of the Great Commission, scope and substance, inform their missiological practices online using the relevant anthropological tools. The study contributes to the ongoing scholarly discussions on digital ecclesiology: its nature, challenges, strategies and prospects.

The theologian and politician Bodil Koch was an influentialplayer in politics regarding the Danish national church in the 20th century.During her twenty-four years as MP for the Social Democrats shemade an effort to avoid an independent constitution of the Church anda separation of church and state. During her thirteen years as Minister ofEcclesiastical Affairs she worked to adjust the church to the welfare state. This article examines one of her initiatives: A commission to modernizethe structure of the church. The surveys and studies from the commissionintroduced methods from sociology and social science into the fieldof church politics in Denmark. The work focused on the activities of thechurch and it revealed a scarce knowledge of traditional Christianityamong the members as well as low Church attendance. Thus the introductionof social science in the ecclesiastical sphere reinforced public notionsof a gap between the Danish national Church and the Danish population– against all intentions.

Abstract:
The article deals with the work of the Commission on Cults under the Presidium of the All-Russian Central Executive Committee in 1929–1930. The research topic is relevant, because. Currently, there is a rethinking of the Soviet experience of interaction between state power and the Russian Orthodox Church in the Soviet period of our history. The purpose of the study is to analyze the work of the Commission on Cult Issues and to understand its role in the development of the anti-religious policy of the Soviet government. This article examines the problems faced by the commission in resolving issues related to the interaction of the authorities, the population and the church. A great contribution to the study of the activities of the Commission on Cults was made by O.B. Prikazchikova, A.S. Kochetova, A.L. Ershov. The merit of these authors lies in the fact that they analyzed the statistical aspect of the commission's work. The main emphasis in their articles is placed on the period from 1931 to 1935. This article examines in detail the period of work of the commission from 1929 to 1930. A new substantive aspect of the commission's work is considered. The methodology of this article includes the historical-diachronic method, which made it possible to understand the internal laws of the development of the political course of the Soviet government in relation to the Russian Orthodox Church and clergy. The comparative historical method made it possible to compare some aspects of the policy of the state power of the Russian Empire and the Soviet government in relation to the Orthodox Church. The structural-system method made it possible to study the genesis of the policy of the Soviet government on the issue of its interaction with the Russian Orthodox Church in its entirety and in certain aspects. As a result of the study, it was possible to study the complaints and petitions received by the commission, the reaction of the commission members to these citizens' appeals. The activity of the chairman of the commission of the Soviet state and party leader P.G. Smidovich. In this study, archival materials from the collections of the State Archives of the Russian Federation (GA RF) are introduced into scientific circulation for the first time. The materials and conclusions contained in the study may be useful for teaching the "History of Russia", in the preparation of textbooks, special courses on the history of interaction between the Soviet government and the Russian Orthodox Church. The Commission made decisions regarding the Russian Orthodox Church and clergy in accordance with the current legislation of the USSR at that time. However, this legislation itself was aimed at excluding the church from social and political life and the complete eradication of faith from the minds of citizens.

Inclusion and the associated provision of social services is a central fundamental right in the European Union. Social services of general interest are based on the principles of an inclusive welfare state enshrined in EU primary law. However, the European Commission tends to interpret these social services rather economically. This paper shows that the way in which these services are provided in the Member States is decisive for the categorization of an economic or non-economic activity by the European Commission. Whether social services are to be classified as being related to economic activities and, therefore, subject to the competition and internal market rules depends on their organization and structure.

Abstract:
Don Browning has been a major figure in pastoral theology for a number of years. His most recent major work (Browning, 1987b) is a challenging analysis of and dialogue with the religious dimensions of many of the major modern psychological paradigms that dominate the mental health field. Browning writes from a self-described “liberal Christianity or mainline church” perspective rather than that of evangelical Christianity. The reader will find this perspective clearly articulated, among other places, in the introductory sections below, where he defines his use of the words “church” and “Christian faith.” Though he writes from a nonevangelical perspective, Browning offers a number of insights for JPT readers into the assets and liabilities that a relationship with the field of psychology offers the Church. His analysis reflects a depth understanding of the contemporary view of social science as a cultural phenomenon, one that is founded upon assumptions that are often religious and moral in nature and yet are often poorly articulated. He discusses the often unrecognized ways in which the Church contributes to psychology by being a “carrier” of the moral and religious views of persons that undergird the psychologies. In the main section of this article, he develops a cautiously appreciative view of how the psychologies can help the Church in enhancing its understanding of the varieties of human pathologies, in challenging its understanding of human development, in enhancing the Church's effectiveness in promoting healing and growth, and in refining the Church's understanding of ethics. In each of these areas, however, he also expresses concerns about the potential and actual negative impact that the psychologies can and have had upon the church.

Abstract:
Monitoring continues to maintain popularity as the strategic management process that enhances the performance of public and private organizations across the globe. The current study sought to assess the effect of monitoring on the performance of the Parliamentary Service Commission, Kenya. To achieve the study objective, the study targeted a sample of 71 employees/staff currently working at the Parliamentary Service Commission offices situated in Nairobi. The study adopted a descriptive research design and sought to identify the characteristics of monitoring executed at the Parliamentary Service Commission and its effect on performance. Data collected was analysed using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 24 program. Linear regression model was used to establish the relationship between the independent variables and the dependent variable and the strength upon which the independent variables affect the dependent variable. Effective monitoring was found to have a positive and strong correlation with performance (r=0.551; p=0.025). A statistically significant relationship was found between monitoring and performance of the Parliamentary Service Commission (p=0.00; p<0.05); this led to rejection of the null hypothesis. It was recommended that the government should put in place strict and objective measures of monitoring to continuously improve the performance of the Parliamentary Service Commission of Kenya. Abstract:
Žigmund Stojka is among the important bishops of Hungary in the 18th century. The article deals with the period 1729 – 1733, when he was the parish priest of Košice. His work in Košice is marked by a dispute with the city municipality. In 1730, Stojka wrote a nine-point complaint to the municipality, in which he attacked the illegal situation that prevailed in the Košice parish. Under his predecessors, the city established the function of a church inspector, to whom it entrusted the management of the income and expenses of the parish church, which the parish priest, as the rector of the church, did not have the opportunity to examine. The city thereby excluded him from all management of the temporal affairs of the parish and left him only the service of masses and the administration of the sacraments, which was contrary to both canonical and secular law. The investigation of this complaint was entrusted to the Imperial-Royal Commission. We learn what conclusions were reached from a document from 1755, when the Košice parish priest at the time filed a similar complaint as Stojka at the time. He referred to the conclusions of the Imperial-Royal Commission, according to which the church treasury should have two locks, the key of one should be held by the inspector and the other by the parish priest. This complaint was upheld in full.

The Charity Commission for England and Wales published an updated list of the questions to be included in the 2018 Annual Return for registered charities. The trustees of charities excepted from registration with the Commission – which include a considerable number of church congregations – are not required to submit an annual return; but an increasing number find that they must do so because when an excepted charity's annual income exceeds £100,000 it loses its excepted status. The previously expressed intention to require every charity trustee to provide an e-mail address has been abandoned; instead, the Commission intends to ask all trustees either to supply an e-mail address or to confirm that they do not have one – which looks very like a welcome climbdown. The Commission's on-line Annual Return Service opened for submissions on 20 August.

Covid-19 provides lessons for society, especially believers. The real fellowship must be limited, and online worship held, making believers enter a new atmosphere. The challenge is not whether it can or not, but financial issues and including the internet are a concern in the Indonesian context. The purpose of this article is to show the church around the ministry during the pandemic. The research method used is a qualitative interview of individuals involved in worship, both online and offline. This study reveals that each church has differences in managing religious life because the existing tradition and ecclesiology make it difficult for the church to accomplish the ministry. The church tries to communicate with the congregation using modern technology or go straight to the houses while still following the government's recommendations, namely social distancing and attention to health. The church must begin to think about the pattern of fellowship today.

This paper argues that for religion, social inclusion is not certain once gained, but needs to be constantly renegotiated in response to continued challenges, even for mainstream religious organisations such as the Catholic Church. The paper will analyse the Catholic Church’s involvement in the Australian public sphere, and after a brief overview of the history of Catholicism’s struggle for equal status in Australia, will consider its response to recent challenges to maintain its position of inclusion and relevance in Australian society. This will include an examination of its handling of sexual abuse allegations brought forward by the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse, and its attempts to promote its vision of ethics and morals in the face of calls for marriage equality and other social issues in a society of greater religious diversity.

Abstract:
In the era of big data, consumer group privacy has become an important source of revenue for the digital platform. Considering the situation that the platform collects consumer group data privacy to generate business revenue, we explore how the service matching level and commission rate affect the platform revenue, social welfare, and seller benefits. Based on the theory of group privacy, the three-party equilibrium evolution is solved by constructing a sequential game model including platform, seller, and consumer alliance. It is found that when the service matching level of the platform is greater than the threshold value, there are two main situations: on the one hand, if using the data privacy of a consumer group is subject to market regulation, the platform will set a high commission rate and service matching level in order to maximize profit. However, social welfare and seller’s business benefit both reach a minimum in this case, and the three-party game cannot attain equilibrium. On the other hand, when the market governor relaxes the platform’s regulation on the use of consumer group privacy data and data revenue efficiency is high enough, the platform can maximize the revenue by increasing the service matching level and reducing the commission rate. The optimal commission rate depends on the data revenue efficiency of the platform. Moreover, when the platform sets the highest commission rate and the service matching level is at a medium level, a stable partial equilibrium among the three-party will be achieved. These conclusions can give some insights into platform’s business model choice decision.

Abstract:
The purpose of the study was to identify innovative approaches to activities in the system of state-church relations in social service (education) within the framework of interaction between an Orthodox Monastery and the Russian State Social University. The interaction between St. Nicholas Chernoostrovsky Convent and Russian State Social University (RSCU) has developed from conceptual foundations to the formation of a training system for Orthodox media. This article is the first to identify innovations: implementation of a modular, continuous model for the development of orphans in modern society, combining the efforts of secular and spiritual education; unification of philosophy and worldview, both religious and cultural, in the context of the digitalization of society and pandemic restrictions; formation of a multi-vector model of education with simultaneous development in several professional (church) directions and (or) an increase in social significance; use of hybrid forms of preparation and conduct of classes in a secular and church educational environment. The strong point of the article is a systematic approach to the study of the problem and the identified innovations, which make it possible to improve social service in the context of the digitalization of society and the COVID 19 pandemic. The use of the results obtained by other researchers can serve to develop the system of state-church relations in social service (education) of different faiths.

Abstract:
This research was motivated by the Covid-19 pandemic that struck the world from March 2020 until today. This pandemic has changed the religious ritual of the Catholic religion around the world from the model of Mass congregation at church to online mass congregation at their homes. This mass congregation service at home indeed changed social interaction patterns. This research aims to investigate whether people's piety and social solidarity also changed with the mass service at home. By combining qualitative and quantitative methods during the last five months, this research finally found that, on the contrary, people's piety and social solidarity improved. It turns out that they are far more religious in their lives and very care about the catholic follower's life and other religious believers. This research has also made the church conduct paradigm reform in serving the people. The church has conducted a new kind of service in this New Normal era, i.e., Profilingcustomers. The church has studied their served people thoroughly. How is their profile, what do they need, and their expectation? The church has set customer focus, friendly, consistent, and continuous improvement. It is an effort to establish the people to the new performance style. The church is expected to keep on formulating new ways to overcome the shock of appreciation of faith due to this pandemic. In life, faith always has ups and downs; that is a portrait of human nature. This era is uncertain, but people will survive and live on. We are looking at the new face of the church, especially regarding piety and social solidarity of the people.

Abstract:
AbstractThis article is a case study in public theology, drawing on the author's experience as a member of the Church of England's Commission on Urban Life and Faith (CULF). Following in the footsteps of the seminal Archbishops' Commission on Urban Priority Areas (ACUPA) report, Faith in the City (1985), CULF aimed to evaluate the future of the urban church and its role in the local community, arguing that the impact of faith-based organizations constituted a major contribution to local community empowerment and well-being. CULF coined the term 'faithful capital' (after Robert Putnam's concept of 'social capital') to express the added value that people of faith contribute to their local communities, and called for wider debate around the question 'what makes a good city?' This article also scrutinizes the Commission's theological method, and in particular its attempt to model a form of 'theology from below'; and in the light of the Commission's findings, poses questions for the future of public theology.

Abstract:
This article is devoted to the compilation of a socio-cultural portrait of professors and lecturers of Russian Universities and Theological Academies – participants of the 1917-1918 Local Council of the Orthodox Church of Russia. The author analyzes the composition of the Pre-Council Commission of 1906, the Pre-Council Commission of 1917 and draws attention to the increasing role of professors in the preparation of Church reform. The professors invited to work on the project of the future Council found a new meaning for their activities, another opportunity to serve the Church. Leading experts in various fields of theological, historical sciences, and law were those who contributed to the discussions of public associations, church-state forums a high scientific level of argumentation and the construction of concepts of Church development. 46 professors and lecturers of Russian Universities and Theological Academies took part in the work of the Council in 1917. In the article, the author analyzes the social composition of the group, education, academic statuses. The author concludes that despite the differences, scholars nevertheless had a lot in common. Origin (36 out of 46 people were born in families belonging to the clergy) and education (35 out of 46 people studied in theological academies) made this group a single scientific community with similar values and ideas. This explains the absence of major conflicts between professors and lecturers of Universities and Theological Academies. The work on the preparation of the Church reform, the non-institutional position in relation to the Church organization made it possible for them to acquire a new corporate identity: at the Council of 1917, scientists felt themselves to be the “Church elite”, which can and should maintain the core of the new ecclesiology – conciliarity (sobornost’).

Abstract:
In the human resource literature, employee engagement and organisational commitment are very vital elements that propel organizational commitment, hence the need to empirically investigate if employee engagement matters for the organizational commitment of the local government service commission in Nigeria. The study was built on the social exchange and job demand-resources theories. A cross-sectional survey design and a sample size of three hundred and ninety-six (396) employees of the local government service commission were employed. The study used four (4) dimensions of employee engagement such as organizational learning, communication, leadership and job empowerment. Data obtained were analysed using simple percentages, frequency counts and Pearson correlation. The Pearson correlation results indicated that all four (4) dimensions of employee engagement employed in the study had a strong positive and significant relationship with organizational commitment. Impliedly, we contended that employee engagement matters for the organizational commitment of the local government service commission in Nigeria. Among others, it was recommended that the local government service commission should promote an effective learning environment, communication culture, and leadership and empower employees’ in-order to improve staff commitment to the council.

The church is essentially open. An open church is a church that is able to move contextually in the midst of the world. The contextual church is manifested in a ministry driven by a holy figure in the Church, namely Frederic Ozanam. Frederic Ozanam who is known as a student has great concern for those who are poor and need a helping hand. Through this spirit of service, a small union was born which of course has the intention of helping the poor. That union was the Vincentian Social Union (SSV). The whole work of God's salvation that is present through Frederic Ozanam makes it a model of service for all the young people of the Church. This is because Frederic Ozanam himself is still very young. Young people are certainly the pillars of the life of the Church. This spirit is certainly strengthened by the Church's view which believes that the youth of the Church are the foundation and reformer of the contextual Church's life.

Abstract The Baptist Union of Victoria (BUV) encourages local churches to give priority to contributing to the well-being of their local neighbourhoods through community engagement and advocacy. This commitment to holistic mission and local community development is an integral part of the public theology of local churches, given Elaine Graham’s argument that ‘practical care and service constitutes the essential praxis of public theology’. But to what extent does the reality of BUV local church mission match this rhetoric? The 2016 National Church Life Survey (NCLS) helps identify what community service BUV churches and their members are involved in. This article discusses the statistical state-wide responses of Victorian Baptists from NCLS 2016, together with interview responses from church leaders. It explores aspects of community development most valued by attenders, where church members are volunteering, and how and where churches are providing social services, prophetic advocacy and environmental care. This denominational case study illustrates that churches offering social services and fostering advocacy and creation care are functioning as the local praxis of public theology.

Abstract:
Speaking before the Commission d'étude sur les laics et l'Église (Commission Dumont) in 1970, Jean-Paul Gignac articulated the feelings of many when he stated that although the church had greatly furthered the survival of French Canadians, the men and women of his own generation had been “strangely traumatized” by Catholicism. At one level, their perplexity can be read as but the obvious response to the travails of Quebec Catholicism in the 1960s. For many decades prior to 1960, the Catholic Church had been successful in imposing on most of Quebec society what appeared to be a unanimity of social and cultural values. But after the mid-1960s, an increasingly evident decline of religious practice, the abandonment of the priesthood by many clergy, the indifference of young people to Roman Catholicism, marked the rapid erosion of the church's social and cultural authority. That erosion was marked in many ways: the deconfessionalization of many Catholic educational and social welfare institutions; the creation of a new pluralist society through state intervention; the rise of a secular “neonationalism“ baserd upon economics, language, and the power of the state instead of a common religious faith; and, at a popular level, the replacement of Christianity by the secular values of a mass-market, North American consumer society. Together these developments, termed the “Quiet Revolution” by historians, decisively marginalized the social and cultural role of Catholicism within Quebec society.

In the article analyzed the social and political consequences of pandemic of coronavirus for the Russian Orthodox Church in the context of the reaction of different European churches on the quarantine rules and critics towards the church inside Russia. The author used the structural-functional and institutional approaches for the evaluation of the activity of the Russian Orthodox Church, was analyzed the sources of mass-media and the public claims of the clergy. In the article was made a conclusion that Orthodox Church expressed itself during the struggle with coronavirus as national civic institute where could be represented various even polar views. Also the parish activity leads to the formation of the democratic society affiliated with the Church and the role of that phenomenon have to be explored in a future. The coronacrisis makes open the inner potential of the civic activity and different forms of the social service in Russian Church. In the same time pandemic provoked the development of the volunteer activity in the around-church environment and also in the non-church circles among the young people and the generation of 40th age where the idea of the social responsibility for themselves and people around and the significance of the civil rights was one of the popular ideas till 2019. The conditions of the self-isolation also forced the clergy to struggle for their parishioners and once again renovate the role of the church in the society and in the cyber space.

Abstract:
During the war with Shining Path (1980–2000) violence in Peru was brutal and extensive. Massive violations of human rights were common, with victims from all regions and social classes, but were particularly intense in rural areas like Ayacucho where the insurgency began. The churches supported and defended rights by providing organizational space, legal defense, publicity (through their radio networks) and by remaining among populations in danger, working with them and often sharing their fate. Important elements in the churches including leaders, priests, members of religious orders, sisters catechists, and ordinary people working through church organizations, were prominent among the victims. They were attacked both by Shining Path (who saw them as competitors) and by army and police forces, who saw their commitment to social justice and collective action as subversive. The choice to defend human rights in theory and action is rooted in a long term process of transformation in the church which drew strength and inspiration from the “option for the poor” articulated at the Catholic bishops meetings in Medellin (1968) and Puebla (1979), and in numerous statements and organizational efforts since then. The process of violence in Peru and the role of the churches is documented in the reports of the Peruvian Commission for Truth and Reconciliation and others from the Peruvian church as well from as regional and local groups.

In recent years social work has increasingly focused on spirituality and religion as key elements of cultural competency. The Joint Commission—the nation's largest health care accrediting organization—as well as many other accrediting bodies require spiritual assessments in hospitals and many other mental health settings. Consequently, specific intervention strategies have been fostered in order to provide the most appropriate interventions for religious clients. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the fourth largest and one of the faster growing churches in the United States. In an effort to facilitate cultural competence with clients who are members of the Church of Jesus Christ, a brief spiritual assessment instrument was developed. This mixed-method study asked experts in Church culture (N = 100) to identify the degree of cultural consistency, strengths, and limitations of the brief spiritual assessment instrument. Results indicate that the framework is consistent with Church culture and a number of practice-oriented implications are offered.

Abstract Railway stations are special places and important elements in urban life. They exist in a dual function of place and node, which is reflected in their service structure. In the station, the station mission provides support and assistance for people in certain life situations. This raises the question of the connection of the station mission as a social service to the church. The place of the »in-between« could hold a development potential for the interaction of parishes and new church places. The railway station mission could, thus, move from a marginal position in the church to a node in the network of church services. At the same time, as an explorative field for inclusion, it could contribute important experiences to inclusion processes.

The issue of primacy divides Roman Catholic (RCC) and Serbian Orthodox Church (SOC) in theological field. Painful historical heritage from Second World War is also the great obstacle. Yugoslav atheistic state supported development of inter-church relations in acceptable proportion that would increase national relations in Yugoslav federation. Its fear was related to possible 'common front' against ideological system. Regional inter-church relations were initiated by Vatican and Pope Paul II, while SOC accepted it particularly in the social field. Abstract:
The economic and political change in today’s organizations is the norm and the social and technological change is highly accelerating posing extremely complex task and uncertainty to those responsible for strategic planning. Therefore, in executing various decisions there is need for managers to achieve a total understanding of strategic planning prior to effectively implementing it. This study investigated the influence of strategic planning practices on the performance of Parliamentary Service Commission in Kenya. The study specifically examined influence of environmental scanning, objective setting, stakeholder involvement and communication on performance of Kenyan Parliamentary Service Commission. The study was anchored on resource-based view; dynamic capability; balance score card and institutional theories. Descriptive survey research design was used. The target population comprised of eight hundred and five respondents who are the permanent staff of the Parliamentary Service Commission. However, a sample size of eighty-one respondents was selected using simple random sampling. Data was obtained using questionnaires and analyzed through descriptive and inferential statistics specifically multiple regressions and correlation. The study established that environmental scanning, objective setting, stakeholder involvement and communication had a positive and significant effect on the performance of Parliamentary Service Commission in Kenya. The study recommends that the Commission should identify the persons to be involved in the environmental scanning, create a competent team of employees and assign them relevant responsibilities. The Commission needs to set objectives that can be defined in a quantifiable and measurable terms within its strategic plan beside establishing responsibility for ensuring the task is undertaken and for writing it up for the report on stakeholder engagement. The Commission should link communication to the strategic plan, including the organization’s mission, vision and values, its strategic goals and objectives.

Abstract:
The illumination of the state policy of separating „positive“ from „negative“ priests of the Catholic Church in Bosnia and Herzegovina is one of the most important issues in the scientific understanding of the position of this religious community during the first decades of existence of AVNOJ Yugoslavia. The post-war government in Bosnia and Herzegovina treated a large number of priests of the Catholic Church as real or potential enemies of the state. In addition to ideological reasons, which were more or less similar in all communist parties, the negative attitude of the CPY towards the Catholic Church was influenced by the fact that some priests supported the Ustasha movement during World War II. The justification for the negative attitude of party structures towards priests was argued most often in the documents of the Commission for Religious Affairs with the following reasons: that most priests supported the occupier and domestic traitors during the war; that they spread hostile propaganda against the national liberation movement; that they actively participated in the fight against the new social order; that they had committed war crimes and persecuted members of other faiths, and that they had been linked to criminal Ustasha emigration abroad. In addition to „negative“ priests, there were „positive“ priests that also acted in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as they were reported in the documents of the Commission for Religious Affairs. They did not agree to the policy of confrontation with the state and demanded the establishment of dialogue and co-operation between the Church and the state. Some of the most prominent representatives of this group of priests were: Fr Bono Ostojić, Ph.D. Karlo Karin, Fr Mile Leko, Fr Josip Markušić, Fr Serafin Dodig, Fr Kruno Misilo and others. Holders of „positive tendencies“ among the clergy, according to the Commission for Religious Affairs, understood the importance of establishing communication and contacts with state authorities and the harmfulness of the negative attitude of the Catholic Church towards the state. Their goal was to change the methods of solving problems between the Church and the state, and to build a path that would suit the interests of the priests of the Catholic Church and the interests of the state community, without interfering with the church's dogmatic canonical principles. The „differentiation“ of priests was treated as a positive result of the work of the new government, because, according to their assessments, in the first post-war years, representatives of religious communities had a hostile attitude towards the newly created socialist Yugoslav state. Therefore, the Commission for Religious Affairs (federal and republican) has continuously pointed out the importance of implementing a policy of „stratification and differentiation“ within religious communities. According to the observations of the Federal Commission for Religious Affairs, the post-war „differentiation“ among the priests happened primarily due to their attitudes regarding the relationship between the state and the Catholic Church. Some considered it desirable and useful to establish communication with the newly created authorities, while others maintained a negative attitude. In addition to these two groups, there was a third group that was undecided. When considering the biographical data of the priests of the Catholic Church proposed for state decorations, it can be stated that the authorities carefully took into account which priests would be on the list of candidates recommended for awards. A positive attitude towards the new socialist social order, active participation in the establishment of the Association of Catholic Priests in Bosnia and Herzegovina, loyalty, patriotism towards socialist Yugoslavia, and contribution to the development of the Association of Catholic Priests in Bosnia and Herzegovina, are some of the most important reasons for choosing candidates for awards. In the article, based on unpublished archival sources, the author contextualises the political circumstances and the circumstances in which the state policy of differentiation of „positive“ from „reactionary“ priests of the Catholic Church in Bosnia and Herzegovina took place, points out the reasons for and bearers of such policy, and analyses its expression and results. Also, the author presents the policy of awarding state recognitions and decorations to individual priests in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
