With the student aid becoming more and more diversified, China has established an integrated financial aid system of scholarships, educational loans, aids, subsidies and reduction of tuitions. Community colleges without a budget strictly allocated to study abroad programs need to be creative in how they expand opportunities for their students. This chapter will focus on the strategies developed by the Peralta Community College District's Office of International Education to develop a stronger study abroad program with limited resources and staffing. After the Peralta Colleges committed to the Institute of International Education's Generation Study Abroad initiative in 2014, it created new study abroad programs, organized annual study abroad fairs, was awarded a scholarship of $7,500, created new promotional materials and an administrative procedure, launched a new website and newsletter, organized financial aid workshops and professional development day presentations for faculty, and opened a study abroad scholarship through its foundation. The chapter will share how other colleges can learn from these efforts and institutionalize study abroad on their campuses.

The results of the study showed there are specific criteria that can be relied upon in order to measure bank credit risk, create a provision, classify customers and creditworthiness. It is possible to incorrectly classify the merit of a customer to improve his image in front of investors and stakeholders and thus the value and the stability of the bank. The framework proposed by the researcher aids in the disclosure of bank credit risk of commercial banks to obtain more efficiency, competition, stability.

Abstract:
Covid-19 impacted mostly the vulnerable families around the world. Lebanon, a country witnessing a dire economic crisis, struggled with the increasing penurious needs of its households, and gathered local and international energies to face the crisis and support the population. The aid distribution was planned and executed while the pandemic was circulating in the country, striking an unprepared state for such an outbreak, and adding challenges for indigent citizens. A National Social Solidarity Program (NSSP) was launched in Spring 2020 to collect data around families affected by the pandemic, delivering financial aids as an impulse to survive the crisis. Our paper describes a collaborative work done in two months by local councils and central authorities collecting data through a digital platform, a pioneer project in Lebanon, to provide financial aid to most vulnerable families, while municipalities were struggling with low resources and budget, requesting help from central authority. Afterwards, a data analysis was carried out by a special committee selecting families for the aid distribution. More transparent and agile tools should be used in the future and the government should determine its priorities, implement good practices from lessons learned, seek developed options for accurate need’s assessment, and take data-driven evidence-based decisions.

FUJITA, MASAHIRO. "Internationalization of Japanese Commercial Banking and the Yen: The Recent Experience of City Banks**I would like to express my deep appreciation for Professor Kazuya Mizushima, Professor Ryoichi Mikitani, and Professor Kenichi Ishigaki. These professors are my closest colleagues at Kobe University. The members of our research group are Professor M. Fujita, Kobe University, Professor K. Mizushima, Kobe University, Professor R. Mikitani, Kobe University, Professor Y. Futatsugi, Kobe University, Professor N. Miyata, Kagawa University, Professor K. Ishigaki, Kobe University, Associate Professor N. Moreover, all these members belong to the Special Research Committee of International Finance, Kobe University, and Professor Fujita serves as the chief of that committee. We would like to particularly acknowledge the work of Mr. Miyata, Mr. Ishigaki, Mr. Niwa, and Mr. Izawa as members of our most important working group. The following banks cooperated in our research. City banks: Daiichi Kangyo, Daiwa, Fuji, Hokkaido-Takushoku, Kyowa, Mitsubishi, Mitsui, Sanwa, Sumitomo, Taiyo-Kobe, Tokai, and Tokyo; Nihon Saiken Shinyo, Japan Export Import Bank, and some regional banks; Hokuriku, Yokohama, and some stock companies; Nomura, Nikko, Yamaichi, Daiwa, and many life insurance companies; Nihon Seimei, Dai-ichi Seimei, Meiji Seimei. We would like to express our appreciation for their kindly cooperation.Furthermore, we would like to acknowledge the financial support provided by Grants in Aid for Scientific Research, the Ministry of Education, and Nihon-Shoken-Shogaku-Zaidan (Japan Securities Scholarship Foundation). The subject of this paper is Internationalization of Japanese commercial banking—the recent experience of city banks in Japan. This is a summary of the results of the questionnaire-based research work that we conducted twice, once in 1977–78 and once in 1981–82. We have been working very closely since the questionnaires were drafted in compiling the responses and in discussing the summary of the results and its interpretation. Therefore this project is really a “joint product” of our cooperation, and the computation of each member's contribution to this project is very difficult to assess. The actual writing of the summary has been done by our working group—Professor Fujita, Professor Mizushima, Professor Mikitani, and especially Mr. Miyata, Mr. Ishigaki, Mr. Niwa, and Mr. Izawa. The other working members were Professor Yusaku Futatsugi, Professor Nobuo Miyata, and Assistant Hideki Izawa. They could not attend our Canberra seminar at Australian National University in October, 1983, but other members (Mr. Fujita, Mr. Migustima, Mr. Mikitani, Mr. Ishigaki, and Mr. Niwa) could attend, and we were very happy to have fruitful academic discussions."
