Abstract:
The demand for sustainability initiatives is increasing by both consumers and organizations (Gittell, et al. 2013). It changes the way businesses are operating and communicating, hence the interest for sustainable marketing has increased. Sustainable marketing should not only be about initiatives to appear more environmental friendly or socially conscious, but rather about a more substantive and meaningful levels of commitments (ibid). Alongside these practical ideas of sustainable marketing, consumers’ requirements for sustainability have sometimes been used as a strategy to create sustainable communication, although companies are lacking initiatives of sustainability. The idea of marketing as a strategy to create desire and needless spending along with sustainability goals has been criticized as being in direct contradictories (Meller & Magaš 2014, Pettie 2001, Pettie & Belz 2010). Thus, the problematics compose of the discussed oxymoron between sustainability and marketing together with the difference between sustainable communication and communicating sustainability.   This qualitative study has been done with a starting position from the idea of addressing how sustainable marketing is practiced, why it is practiced and how the future outlook of the concept is perceived from a company perspective. The chosen theories for this study compose mainly of basic marketing theories and models with a sustainability adaption. A qualitative study addressing this issue from a company perspective has not been discovered in previous researches, which resulted in the idea of highlighting different companies’ opinions and practices of sustainable marketing. The findings have discovered the usage of sustainable marketing today and potentially in the future, together with reasons for why it is practiced. Sustainability has become a well-known concept with a lot of business scandals associated to it, which has been mentioned in this study as one of the reasons for the predictions of a future demand of real sustainable marketing practices.

van, Chien Trinh. "Resource Allocation for Max-Min Fairness in Multi-Cell Massive MIMO." Licentiate thesis, Linköpings universitet, Kommunikationssystem, 2017. http://urn.kb.se/resolve?urn=urn:nbn:se:liu:diva-144221.

Full text
Abstract:
Massive MIMO (multiple-input multiple-output) is considered as an heir of the multi-user MIMO technology and it has recently gained lots of attention from both academia and industry. By equipping base stations (BSs) with hundreds of antennas, this new technology can provide very large multiplexing gains by serving many users on the same time-frequency resources and thereby bring significant improvements in spectral efficiency (SE) and energy efficiency (EE) over the current wireless networks. The transmit power, pilot training, and spatial transmission resources need to be allocated properly to the users to achieve the highest possible performance. This is called resource allocation and can be formulated as design utility optimization problems. If the resource allocation in Massive MIMO is optimized, the technology can handle the exponential growth in both wireless data traffic and number of wireless devices, which cannot be done by the current cellular network technology. In this thesis, we focus on two resource allocation aspects in Massive MIMO: The first part of the thesis studies if power control and advanced coordinated multipoint (CoMP) techniques are able to bring substantial gains to multi-cell Massive MIMO systems compared to the systems without using CoMP. More specifically, we consider a network topology with no cell boundary where the BSs can collaborate to serve the users in the considered coverage area. We focus on a downlink (DL) scenario in which each BS transmits different data signals to each user. This scenario does not require phase synchronization between BSs and therefore has the same backhaul requirements as conventional Massive MIMO systems, where each user is preassigned to only one BS. The scenario where all BSs are phase synchronized to send the same data is also included for comparison. We solve a total transmit power minimization problem in order to observe how much power Massive MIMO BSs consume to provide the requested quality of service (QoS) of each user. A max-min fairness optimization is also solved to provide every user with the same maximum QoS regardless of the propagation conditions. The second part of the thesis considers a joint pilot design and uplink (UL) power control problem in multi-cell Massive MIMO. The main motivation for this work is that the pilot assignment and pilot power allocation is momentous in Massive MIMO since the BSs are supposed to construct linear detection and precoding vectors from the channel estimates. Pilot contamination between pilot-sharing users leads to more interference during data transmission. The pilot design is more difficult if the pilot signals are reused frequently in space, as in Massive MIMO, which leads to greater pilot contamination effects. Related works have only studied either the pilot assignment or the pilot power control, but not the joint optimization. Furthermore, the pilot assignment is usually formulated as a combinatorial problem leading to prohibitive computational complexity. Therefore, in the second part of this thesis, a new pilot design is proposed to overcome such challenges by treating the pilot signals as continuous optimization variables. We use those pilot signals to solve different max-min fairness optimization problems with either ideal hardware or hardware impairments.

This work comprises a photographic study from the intersection of some of the main concepts of informational theories of Marshall McLuhan present in \"Understanding Media\" and Max Bense, in \"Kleine Aesthetik\". From a basic explanation of the foundations of the Concrete Poetry movement and Semiotics, it is intended to point concreteness and iconicity on McLuhan and Bense. Could the idea of \"the medium is the message\" by McLuhan be associated with Bense\'s \"anti-aesthetic of taste\" [Ungefallenaesthetik]? It will also be confronted the criteria of both to classify media and artistic objects, in relation to the degree of user participation and consequent creativity and innovation. Proposing a parallel, graphic narrative to the theoretical argumentation, this dissertation presents three experimental photographic studies, whose visual exhibition line aims to dialogue with the verbal ideas. This work intends to introduce more awareness to the production, teaching and criticism of photographic signage - and other languages as well.

Abstract:

Abstract:
On April 10, 2019, a global crisis began outside Ethiopia’s capital, Addis Ababa. A Boeing 737 Max 8 airplane owned and operated by Ethiopian Airline crashed in the desert killing all on board. The accident mimicked a six months old Lion Air flight 610 which happened in Indonesia and claimed the lives of all crew and passengers. Together, these accidents claimed the lives of 346 people and have been noted as one of the dark days in modern aviation history. Subsequently, the aviation world grounded all Boeing 737 Max aircrafts amid safety concerns. This brought severe public criticism to Boeing, America’s biggest manufacturing exporter, relative to the safety of its flagship airplane. Applying crisis communication theories such as Apologia, SCCT, and Image Restoration, the study finds that these strategies together with other public relations strategies could support public perception in favor of Boeing.

Abstract:
The purpose of this study is to investigate how Max Burgers construct themselves as an environmentally friendly company through their video advertisements. Additionally the purpose is to investigate how young, loyal customers can perceive Max’s attempt to portray  themselves as an environmentally friendly company, in the fast food industry through their advertisements. The two research questions are as follows: 1)   How does Max construct their advertisements in the campaign “Climate Positive Burgers”? 2)   How do Max’s young, loyal customers perceive Max’s video advertisements in the campaign “Climate Positive Burgers”?   The chosen theoretical framework incorporated into the study are Stuart Hall’s theory of Encoding/Decoding and Kenneth Burke’s theory of identification.  Data has been collected through an online survey, individual online semi-strucuted interviews and multimodal analysis. The study found that the way Max constructs their video advertisements can vary. With one video being constructed around being relatable and embracing humor, while the other was constructed on seriousness and artistic elements. In addition to this, it was found that all three types of readings according to Hall’s theory were perceived by the loyal customers interviewed. However, oppositional and dominant readings were more frequent. Finally, it was concluded that idealistic identification is present in consumers, due to loyal customers sharing some of the same values that Max are communicating in the video advertisements.

Livni, Eran. "Chalga to the max! Musical speech and speech about music on the road between Bulgaria and modern Europe." Thesis, Indiana University, 2015. http://pqdtopen.proquest.com/#viewpdf?dispub=3672900.

Full text
Abstract:

This dissertation explores a discourse of democratic modernity in EU-member Bulgaria, which revolves around a hybrid popular music called chalga. I argue that chalga does not function as the name of a defined music genre. Rather, Bulgarians use it as a self-reflexive voice of ambivalence regarding the recontextualziation in liberal democracy of the socialist language ideology of evolutionary modernization: navaksvane—catching up—with Europe. On one hand, chalga indexes musical images that resonate with the current zeitgeist of modern European culture: aesthetical and social heterogeneity as well as commercial mass media. On the other hand, Bulgarians take this Ottoman-derived word as a non-referential index that invokes anxieties of Balkanism—a discursive trope of European modernity that has invented the Balkans as its liminal incomplete Self. As the ethnographic chapters of the dissertation show, Bulgarians deal with their ambivalence to chalga by seeking paternalist figures capable of imposing the language regimes of navaksvane when performers and audiences digress too much into coded zones of Balkan liminality. Regimenting modern popular music with top-down control points also to the political communication implicit in chalga. Cognizant of their inferior location vis-à-vis "real modern societies", ordinary Bulgarians seek paternalist leaders who can address them on an intimate level but are powerful enough to impose norms and practices circulating to Bulgaria from loci that represent the Occident. The expectation to have such leaders is not exclusive to democracy. It defined the political culture during socialism and even before. What is special to the contemporary era is the discursive formulation of such leadership, which I define as paternalistic populism. Bulgarians regard democracy as working in their country when it is guided from above by an authoritarian boss (shef), who knows how to anticipate the popular will, how to ally with bigger and external forces in order to overcome the society's marginality, and most importantly, how to act with "barbarous" Balkan aggression so as to put the nation in modern European order.

Istället används informella kanaler i olika utsträckning.

Abstract:

Abstract:
Networked automation systems (NAS) are more and more used in industry, given the several advantages they provide like flexibility, low cost, ease of maintenance, etc. However, the use of a communication network in SCR means in essence sharing some resources and therefore strikingly impacts their time performances. For instance, a control signal does get to its destination (actuator) only after a non zero delay. So, to guarantee that such a delay is shorter than a given threshold or other time constraints well respected, an a priori evaluation is necessary before operating the SCR. In our research activities, we are interested in client/server SCR reactivity and the evaluation of their response time. Our contribution in this investigation is the introduction of a (Max,+) Algebra-based analytic approach to solve some problems, faced in the existing methods like state explosion of model checking or the non exhaustivity of simulation. So, after getting Timed Event Graphs based models of the SCR and their linear state (Max,+) representation, we obtain formulae that enables to calculate straightforwardly the SCR response times. More precisely, we obtain formulae of the bounds of response time by adopting a deterministic analysis and other formulae to calculate the probability density of response time by considering a stochastic analysis. Moreover, in our investigation we take into account every single elementary delay involved in the response time, including the end-to-end delays, due exclusively to crossing the communication network. This latter being however constituted of shared resources, making by the way the use of TEG and (Max,+) Algebra impossible, we introduce a novel approach to model the communication network. This approach brings to life a new class of Petri nets, called Conflicting Timed Event Graphs (CTEG), which enables us to solve the problem of the shared resources. We also manage to represent the CTEG dynamics using recurrent (Max,+) equations and therefore calculate the end to-end delays. An Ethernet-based network is studied as an example to apply this novel approach. Note by the way that the field of application of this approach borders largely communication networks and is quite possible when dealing with other systems. Finally, to validate the different results of our research activities and the related hypotheses, especially the maximal bound of response time formula, we carry out lots of experimental measurements on a lab facility. We compare the measures to the formula predictions and check their agreement under different conditions

Thesis, Paris 11, 2011. http://www.theses.fr/2011PA112269/document.

Full text
Abstract:
This thesis is devoted to the study of mutual contributions between games theory and informationtheory and their applications to decentralized communication networks. First, game theoryprovides answers to optimization problems in which agents interact. In a game, players chooseactions and obtains gains called utilities. Assumptions about the information possessed by playersbefore play is fundamental to determine the outcome a game, also called equilibrium. When thesame game is repeated from stage to stage and the players do not observe the past actions perfectly, then the equilibrium utilities are not known. On the other hand, information theory studiesthe performance of a communicating system. Nowadays, communication networks are so densethat they can not organize around a single central operator. Game theory is appropriate to explorenew organizations of communication networks in which decisions are taken locally. At first,in Chapter 3, we study the game of power control in terms of energy efficiency, thanks to theexisting results for repeated games. Transmitters are regarded as players and choose the transmissionpower of the signal, considered as their action. The objective of a player is to choose anoptimal power for the quality of its own communication. The players do not observe the pastactions perfectly, but we show that the observation of the "signal over interference plus noiseratio" is sufficient to ensure optimal equilibrium results for the communication network. In a secondstep, we use the tools of the information theory for further study of the flow of informationamong the players. In Chapter 4, an encoder sends an extra signal to the players so that theyperfectly observe the actions chosen in the previous stage-game. The observation of players issufficiently precise to characterize the set of equilibrium utilities of the repeated game. Theseresults are, in turn, used to model new communication networks and to provide more realisticsolutions. In Chapter 5, we deepen the study of equilibrium utilities when players observe thepast actions to through an arbitrary observation channel. We show a rate region is achievablefor the multi-user channel with states which includes an encoder, two legitimate receivers andan eavesdropper. This result allows us to study the correlations over the sequences of actions agroup of players can implement while keeping it secret from an opponent player. The study ofmulti-user channels is a step towards the characterization of equilibrium utilities in a repeatedgame with imperfect monitoring

Abstract:
The thesis focuses on the privacy of communication that can be ensured by means of the physical layer, i.e., by appropriately chosen coding and resource allocation schemes. The fundamentals of physical-layer security have been already formulated in the 1970s by Wyner (1975), Csiszár and Körner (1978). But only nowadays we have the technical progress such that these ideas can find their way in current and future communication systems, which has driven the growing interest in this area of research in the last years. We analyze two physical-layer approaches that can ensure the secret transmission of private information in wireless systems in presence of an eavesdropper. One is the direct transmission of the information to the intended receiver, where the transmitter has to simultaneously ensure the reliability and the secrecy of the information. The other is a two-phase approach, where two legitimated users first agree on a common and secret key, which they use afterwards to encrypt the information before it is transmitted. In this case, the secrecy and the reliability of the transmission are managed separately in the two phases. The secrecy of the transmitted messages mainly depends on reliable information or reasonable and justifiable assumptions about the channel to the potential eavesdropper. Perfect state information about the channel to a passive eavesdropper is not a rational assumption. Thus, we introduce a deterministic model for the uncertainty about this channel, which yields a set of possible eavesdropper channels. We consider the optimization of worst-case rates in systems with multi-antenna Gaussian channels for both approaches. We study which transmit strategy can yield a maximum rate if we assume that the eavesdropper can always observe the corresponding worst-case channel that reduces the achievable rate for the secret transmission to a minimum. For both approaches, we show that the resulting max-min problem over the matrices that describe the multi-antenna system can be reduced to an equivalent problem over the eigenvalues of these matrices. We characterize the optimal resource allocation under a sum power constraint over all antennas and derive waterfilling solutions for the corresponding worst-case channel to the eavesdropper for a constraint on the sum of all channel gains. We show that all rates converge to finite limits for high signal-to-noise ratios (SNR), if we do not restrict the number of antennas for the eavesdropper. These limits are characterized by the quotients of the eigenvalues resulting from the Gramian matrices of both channels. For the low-SNR regime, we observe a rate increase that depends only on the differences of these eigenvalues for the direct-transmission approach. For the key generation approach, there exists no dependence from the eavesdropper channel in this regime. The comparison of both approaches shows that the superiority of an approach over the other mainly depends on the SNR and the quality of the eavesdropper channel. The direct-transmission approach is advantageous for low SNR and comparably bad eavesdropper channels, whereas the key generation approach benefits more from high SNR and comparably good eavesdropper channels. All results are discussed in combination with numerous illustrations

Abstract:
In this thesis, we have explored the problem of relay assignment in cooperative networks. The performance of different relay assignment schemes is statistically analyzed, new schemes are proposed to achieve diversity and some algorithms are proposed to find the optimum, permutation based on some existing criteria. As a means for our analysis, first we considered different scenarios where the PDF of the relaying channels' SNR involves order statistics. In the following three sections, we have considered the problem of relay assignment in cooperative networks based on different criteria. Each criterion has its own pros and cons, and some are suitable for some network configurations but not for other configurations. We considered each criterion in a suitable network configuration and analyzed its performance. As the performance metric, we calculated the PDF of the end-to-end SNR, the diversity order and the BER. The mentioned criteria are sequential relay assignment (Chapter 4), relay assignment based on max-min criterion (Chapter 5), and relay assignment based on max-sum criterion (Chapter 6). In the last chapter of this thesis, we have proposed a new scheme to achieve diversity in relay channels where we only used the CSI of the source-relay channels. The proposed scheme is based on a distributed implementation of linear block codes or convolutional codes

Abstract:

Abstract:

Abstract:
In organizations today Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is becoming a common means to try to gain legitimacy and credibility for their business. A successful CSR strategy has the potential to generate positive outcomes for a company and reaching out to stakeholders about the corporation’s contribution in the field is an important part of the work. In this study I examine how the employees at Max Hamburgare receive the corporation’s efforts within sustainability, how it is perceived and what this means to the employees. The study is based on qualitative interviews with employees and the CSR manager at Max Hamburgare, and through a wider survey among employees. The result reveals that organizational members receive information about CSR through both direct and indirect channels. Moreover the employees indicate appreciation towards oral communication about the corporation’s commitment within sustainability. The employees at Max Hamburgare perceive the corporation’s CSR activities as credible and the results show that the work within sustainability contribute to the employees’ organizational identification. The result from this study of how the employees’ communicate about sustainability also seems to add value and strengthening the corporate culture.

Abstract Title: It’s not just a comment – a study about Crisis Management on Social Media Author: Malin Pettersson 910624 and Amanda White 920310 Year: Spring 2014 Level: Bachelor degree Department: School of Business and Economics Supervisor: Carina Holmgren Examiner: Frederic Bill   Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to develop and test a theoretical model for Crisis Management on social media.   Method: The overall literature that was found consisted of traditional Crisis Management and the communication that goes with it, and it was mainly written for traditional channels such as newspapers. The theories could not concretely describe how organizations should handle crisis in Social Media. Therefore, this study focuses on if and how organizations can use the traditional theories when working with crisis management in social media. Through a qualitative method the study has examined and tested the model on three crises, and subsequently improved the model based on the empirical material and  the analysis that was made.   Conclusion: The conclusion found that organizations need to adjust their crisis management after following guidelines for it to work on social media: -    Strategies should be limited to only one, and be either a rebuilding strategy or a bolstering strategy. -    The focus should be on emotional communication, and regarding the rational aspects the focus should be on actual actions and plans for the future. -    Clear guidelines for what type of questions and critics that should be answered should be set. Due to time restrictions questions and critics that communicate direct attacks and/or has playful undertones should be filtered out. -    Spokespersons can be many, which amplifies the need of clear guidelines and a coherent choice of strategy. Further, the messages should all be signed the same regardless of its creator. A good choice is therefore to sign it with the organizations name. -    Social media demands constant presence as the organizations must answer comments quickly, preferably within the hour of their publication. They must also quickly share information to make sure they are first with defining the crisis events. Furthermore, organizations should be active on all the social media channels where they have an account to avoid creating a forum for only speculations, rumors and discussions between stakeholders. -    Authorities should not stand alone in the spotlight, and they should not act alone on the organizations social media channels. Engaging in the music set of one’s favorite artist or DJ is oftentimes leading to the result of a powerful and euphoric felt experience, a sensation partly also induced from dancing in beat to the music. In an attempt to simulate a similar dance experience, a user-study was designed in order to investigate when a user is let to dance in rhythm to a music playback and in addition, in control of a music playback tempo through the induced dance movements. A proof-of-concept prototype was built and tested in an initial study, followed by a main study where the prototype had been modified and 12 participants participated. A questionnaire was given containing various question statements to be rated through a Likert-scale regarding their subjective experience. Open-ended questions were also included to collect their own opinions. From the results, an enhanced engagement and enjoyment of the music could be identified when being able to manipulate the tempo.

In today's society, people are constantly striving to find new technical solutions that facilitate and simplify their everyday life. Companies embrace these societal structures and constantly try to keep up with the development to make sure that the consumer circle is expanding and to get more people to buy their goods and use their services. In companies such as fast food restaurants, everything is known to happen quickly. Food preparation needs to be done quickly and also the transactions must be fast in order for a fast food restaurant to live up to its title. In this study, mobile payments within the restaurant business will be investigated. The main topics that will be discussed are why restaurants are implementing such services to their businesses. The study is also going to lift the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats that follow with a mobile payment application and self service technology from both buissness- and customer perspective.

Abstract:

What makes an image photorealistic and how to pinpoint and understand how our mind interprets different elements in an image conditions? It is proposed that the phrase "imperfect makes perfect" is the key for the photorealistic goal in today’s 3D. There is a review of all the elements for the creation of one perfect image, such as Global Illumination, Anti-Aliasing and also a basic review of photography, how a scene is set up, color temperature and the nature of the real light. To put different theories to a test, the common three dimensional software 3D Studio Max was used with the V-Ray renderer. On a field trip to IKEA communications, we were assigned a project of a room scene containing a kitchen, with a finished scene model. A kitchen was created and experimented to reach a result where there is no visible difference between a computer generated image and the photography. Our result was not what we had hoped for due to many problems with our scene. We ourselves see this as a first step toward a scientific explanation to photorealism and what makes something photorealistic.

Adder MAC is a simple noiseless multiple-access channel (MAC), where if users send messages X₁, . . . ,X[subscript h] [epsilon] {0, 1}[superscript n], then the receiver receives Y = X₁ + · · · + X[subscript h] with addition over Z. Communication over the noiseless adder MAC has been studied for more than fifty years. There are two models of particular interest: uniquely decodable code tuples, and B[subscript h]-codes. In spite of the similarities between these two models, lower bounds and upper bounds of the optimal sum rate of uniquely decodable code tuple asymptotically match as number of users goes to infinity, while there is a gap of factor two between lower bounds and upper bounds of the optimal rate of B[subscript h]-codes. The best currently known B[subscript h]-codes for h >/- 3 are constructed using random coding. In this thesis, we study variants of the random coding method and related problems, in hope of achieving B[subscript h]-codes with better rate. Our contribution include the following. 1. We determine the rate achieved by changing the underlying distribution used in random coding. 2. We determine the rate of a list-decoding version of B[subscript h]-codes achieved by the random coding method. 3. We study several related problems about Rényi entropy.

Mann, Benjamin W. "I've been dressing up like a man: An ideological criticism of "Transparent"." Scholarly Commons, 2016. https://scholarlycommons.pacific.edu/uop_etds/197.

Full text
Abstract:
This study is an ideological criticism of the acclaimed Amazon digital television series Transparent. Transparent is a series that focuses heavily on LGBTQ+ issues, including a transgender protagonist and several LGBTQ+ characters. Recognizing the importance of LGBTQ+ representation in media, this study draws from a methodological framework in Kenneth Burke’s rhetorical concept of identification as well as Judith Butler and John Sloop’s theories pertaining to gender identity in order to assess how this series represents gender. Analyzing key scenes in Transparent’s first and second seasons, this thesis argues that Transparent offers several sympathetic portrayal of LGBTQ+ characters, depicts gender as culturally constructed, and queers heteronormativity with its focus on LGBTQ+ issues. However, Transparent frequently relies on underdeveloped and often stereotypical depictions of LGBTQ+ characters, does not display LGBTQ+ actors in major roles, and often reinforces dominant ideologies such as heteronormativity and hegemonic masculinity in its identification. As a result, this series ultimately is mixed in advancing LGBTQ+ representation on television.

Abstract:
Despite the globalization and cultures’ convergence, it is scholarly recognized that cross-cultural issues are important in a business context, especially for companies extending their activities internationally. However, existing theory does not provide an explicit answer of how cultural differences between countries influence customers’ perception of different aspects of marketing communication mix. That is why the underlying task of the current paper is to investigate if cross-cultural differences within the same geographic region are big enough to affect customers’ perception of marketing communication mix used. To facilitate a data collection, Central and Eastern European region represented by Ukraine and Czech Republic were chosen. As a reference tourism industry was used, due to its’ current significance, scale and global nature. Data was collected by conducting secondary and primary research, both having quantitative nature. Secondary data was collected through statistical offices and official on-line sources. For the primary research purposes a questionnaire survey was conducted among pre-defined target audience in Czech Republic and Ukraine. 300 responses obtained provided a solid basis for the further analysis.  Based on the relevant theory and secondary research findings four hypotheses were developed to address the research question “Does cross-cultural differences within Central and Eastern Europe affect the marketing communication mix in a specific industry?”. The study results provided that cultural differences exist not only between different regions, but also found within the same geographic region. When considered from marketing perspective, they are significant enough to influence customers’ preferences and perceptions of different aspects of marketing communication mix. The results obtained are specific for a particular case, so they can not be applied to some other countries. However, when it comes to marketing communication perceptions, the results can be used as guidelines by other industries then tourism

Abstract:
In this current economical environment business are looking to become more efficient to lower the costs and provide a better service. New technological advances are quickly being integrated to automate or more rapidly perform the task. Most of these technological advances are in the field of information and communication technology (ICT). Nevertheless, the introduction of technologies is not enough, as better management strategies and organization structures are needed to develop the business further. Duroc Machine Tools identified a problem within the sales and service approach, which does not employ ICT tools while communicating with the customer. Therefore, the cost per order is high and a direct one to one communication is the only approach. The project focuses on lowering the cost of each order, without decreasing the customer care and the overall quality of the service. This was firstly done by studying the possibilities of what ICT tools would be applied to enhance the communication processes. Data was collected from statistical sources to give an overall idea. Next case studies of companies within similar industries and region were performed to indicate in more detail the tools used and available. An educated guess was formulated of what ICT tools should be considered, the more infrequent or conflicting ICTs recommended were verified by interviewing employees with a demonstration of the tools application. The second stage was to analyze the organizational structure and applying lean tools to add value to the customer. A customer perspective is at the centre of this theory and several tools were used to improve the system. Finally the ICT tools were integrated with the new organizational structure to demonstrate the developments possibilities in the future vision. The study found that common ICT functions such as information upload have become essential for doing business today. Another trend that was established is that live information or user-generated approach which is a must have factor in the future ICT platform, this was mostly suggested by introducing micro-blogs. The infrequent and conflicting ICTs within the industry that were recommended were: e-commerce, order management and model driven process solving (MDP). The verification showed a strong consent within the company to apply such tools. To finish the project a strategy of implementation was formulated to guide the company towards its vision of a better system.
