Full textThis thesis deals with the efficiency of computer-mediated discourse. It is a work that falls within the scope of pragmatics of computer-mediated communication and which, by crossing the Theory of Communicative Action of J. Habermas and pragmatics speech analysis, describes the ways by which Internet users try to give efficiency to their online discourses, particularly in internet forums. We focus more specifically on three types of efficiency of language: the "relational efficiency", the "interrogative efficiency" and the "argumentative efficiency". Therefore we treat in this study three separate issues: how do Internet users make their messages efficient when seeking to develop relationships with others? How do Internet users make their messages efficient when trying to exchange information? How do Internet users make their messages efficient when trying to discuss together in an argumentative interaction? We respond to these questions through the study of Computer-Mediated Communication characteristics and through a corpus analysis of conversations in internet forums

Full textThe evaluation of a groupware within a consulting firm has been undertaken with an interactionism approach after experimental difficulties and relational tensions between users. This groupware was a decision making system on a commercial purpose. It has been developed on lotus notes, a written asynchronous, multi-users communication support. This system has been used for six months by twenty-one firm's consultants. The analyse was undertaken following a double level : a discourse level and an interactive one. Our experimental object was co-oriented decision making system. We also had to analyse relationships between consultants. On the discursive level, we have been describing and analysing discourses from a lexical and a morpho-syntaxical point of view. For this purpose, we have been articulating studies on talk at work and on computer mediated communication. The analyse showed that users were divided between opposite constraints, procedural constraint, time constraint, efficiency constraint, system constraints. . . The interactive level of our analysis (based on the geneve model according to an interactional approach) pointed out the structural and the functional constraints of the interaction. At the same time, we could observe other constraints from the system and from the activity. The study on the relationships mediated by the system was based on the articulation of all these analyses. We also showed that relational tensions resulted from complex phenomenon. Complexe phenomenon because of this panel of constraints : coming from the system, from the activity imposing relational and linguistic behavior. Finally, the constraints resulting from these differents levels did impose contradictory users'roles (functional, argumentative, relational role occuring during the interaction). All of this led to a paralysis according to the purpose of the system : the decision making

Full textThe actors of a company must collaborate efficiently to achieve the common purposes of the company in an environment permanently evolving, while most current information processing systems are based on the analysis of the company's organization and on the collection of the user's needs at a given time. Whereas mediations, which permit actors' coordination, information exchanges, tasks' specifications and activity evaluation, would be real objects to conceive tools to support collaborative conception activities. This fits undergoes almost exclusively by communication and often following nonprescriptive circuits. Actually, the communications between actors of the company are seldom correctly taken into account in the information processing system. This occurs even in recent systems of collaborative work or of workflow management, whereas it is well known that these communications transmit a very significant part of the information circulating in the company. The methods and tools of work organization can benefit from new technologies of communication to return these more effective adaptations. A new type of software will be then necessary to disambiguate, to facilitate, to structure and to allow complex searches in the exchanges arising among the actors (human beings and software agents) of a cooperative socio-technical system. Multi-Agents Systems, dynamically adaptable, can follow this evolutions and take into account each actors' specificities. We thus propose a system of communication mediation and of memories companies management, based on a multi-agent architecture. This architecture allows a use adapted to the "professional" activities of tool users associated to the various levels of language processing (syntactic, semantic, pragmatic)
