Abstract:
Communication skills may be defined as sharing views, emotions, feelings, etc. with others. Communicating abilities are among the general talents that are required of college learners. Participants would have been subjected to circumstances, both within and outdoors of the auditoriums, where they would have had to apply their communicating abilities, such as groups discussion and class performances, throughout their undergrad days. As a result, the purpose of this study is to look at the degree of communicative abilities amongst college graduates. A self-administered assessment was used to evaluate communicative abilities, which included 10 characteristics such as oral, written, and sociable conduct. The questionnaire's repeatability was high, with r > 0.08 for each subcomponent. According to the findings of this survey, undergraduate learners have developed strong communications abilities. The future of communication skills will be bright as schools and universities begin to educate their pupils.

Abstract:
Communication is a skill that requires a continuous and methodical process of listening, speaking, and comprehending. Even though most people are born with the ability to talk, the authors must learn to do it clearly and effectively. By observing other people and modelling our conduct on what the author sees and sense, the author may improve our speaking, listening, and understanding of verbal and nonverbal clues. Through schooling, authors are also trained in a few communication skills. By putting those talents into practice and evaluating them. Because English communication is a skill that can only be developed via consistent practise and experience in the objective language, all available possessions should be fully utilised to create an encouraging environment for learning and practising the language. The purpose of this paper is to discuss the role of English in enhancing effective communication abilities. Modern English communication aids in the development of a good mindset. English communications that would enable us to address the day's future issues in a novel method.

Abstract:
Motivating students to learn and practice effective communication skills has always been a dilemma for teachers of all grade levels. Video cameras and camcorders are now being used as teaching tools in many schools to not only motivate students to use and practice a variety of skills, but to stimulate their creativity, as well. Loretto Elementary School in Jacksonville, Florida, is developing a program which incorporates student-written video productions into its existing curriculum. Loretta's innovative program is a direct result of a 10-rninute informational video tape production done by graduate student Jane Fleetwood and Continental Cablevision, a local cable television company. This paper describes the step-by-step procedures involved in that production, the business education partnership which exists between the school and the cable company, and the school's plans for making video productions as integral part of its curriculum.

de, Souza Almeida Lilian Maria. "Understanding Industry’s Expectations of Engineering Communication Skills." DigitalCommons@USU, 2019. https://digitalcommons.usu.edu/etd/7493.

Full text
Abstract:
The importance of communication in the engineering profession is widely acknowledged by various stakeholders, including industry, academia, professional engineers, and engineering students. Even though alternative strategies to help students improve their ability to communicate professionally have been approached by many engineering programs across the country, research indicates a continued dissatisfaction of employers when it comes to the performance of engineers as communicators in the workplace. This perspective suggests efforts to improve students’ communication skills in universities may be inconsistent with workplace needs, revealing an apparent gap between what is taught and what is expected from engineering professionals. This gap provides an opportunity for additional research to identify the specific communication competencies required for engineers to succeed in the workplace. Particularly, the requirements of industry concerning engineers’ communication skills need to be understood more deeply, so that new educational interventions may be carefully tailored according to employers’ expectations and that both communication and engineering faculty can revisit their strategies to teach students to become better communicators. In order to obtain a deeper understanding of industry’s expectations concerning engineering communication skills, a qualitative research study was implemented to provide a detailed description of the communication skills practicing engineers need while working in industry. The exclusive focus on industry was pursued through the development of case studies. Four industrial segments (High-Tech, Automotive, Aerospace, and Manufacturing) that employ a significant percentage of engineers in the U.S. were selected. Engineers in leadership positions from each of the selected industrial segments participated in in-depth interviews and discussed about the expected engineering communication skills in industry. The results revealed that: 1) oral communication is prevalent in the engineering profession; 2) engineers need to tailor their messages to multiple audiences and to select the most appropriate type of communication medium; 3) written communication is expected to be clear, concise, and precise; 4) global communication is an increasingly demanded requirement in industry.

Abstract:
This investigation explored the dialectic of communication competence from an historical prospective and successfully identified seven common threads in competence theory. Communication skills and skills classifications were linked to competency issues. A content analysis of the 452 page leading national skills level communication text identified 185 skills behaviors along with their associated communication competencies. Skills were described in twelve categories; however, no consistent definition or treatment of communication skills was in evidence. Implications of the findings were discussed.

This article is a theoretical-scientific research of the different conceptual approaches to emotional intelligence and communication skills in the teaching-learning process, carried out mainly in the online environment. Thus, we shall list and describe the key elements of emotional intelligence, highlighting, among others, communication skills. This paper axiomatically acknowledges the importance of emotional intelligence in the process of didactic communication, where many communication barriers can easily occur, and in this sense emotional intelligence plays a fairly important role in achieving communication goals and obtaining feedback appropriate to communicative intent.

Abstract:
Non-academic skills exist alongside academic knowledge and abilities, and can include empathy, communication, and resilience. They have also been called 'life', 'non-cognitive' or 'essential' skills. Non-academic skills are associated with a range of positive outcomes across education, work, health and wellbeing, such as higher academic attainment, improved employability, and better physical and mental health. This POSTnote reviews evidence on the outcomes associated with non-academic skills and effective educational approaches to developing these skills in and out of the school environment.

Abstract:
#Youngart & Future Skills research project had two main foci. One was to develop and investigate models for collaboration between the art and education sectors, and the second to inquire whether the art programs and teacher/artist collaboration promotes the future skills of Creativity, Collaboration, Critical Thinking, and Communication. Two art programs were carried out in Norwegian secondary schools in 2022 and 2023. Art program A was developed by a theater company in collaboration with a teacher and four artists in a large secondary school class with 45 students in Trondheim. Art program B was developed by a filmmaker in collaboration with a teacher in a small secondary school class with 18 students in Sunnmøre. One of the aims of #Youngart & Future Skills was to investigate how different class and school sizes functioned in different art programs. The art programs were documented through observation, interviews, questionnaires, and the students feedback on post-it notes and drawings, and the material was analysed by the research team. The research finds that of the four future skills Creativity, Collaboration, Communication, and Critical Thinking, the first three were strengthened through the art program, and Critical thinking to some extent. The collaboration between classroom teachers and teaching artist was appreciated by both parties. At the same time, there seems to be potential in a closer collaboration and a clarification of roles in relation to the implementation of the art program. It is important that both parties can use their expertise in the implementation, and that the school’s needs and the teaching artists goals and proficiency meet in a good way. There is a need for more research to explore and make choices in relation to the diversity of possibilities in scope, length, timetable, and forms of collaboration between teachers and artists.
