Abstract:
An extensive research programme has been carried out on advanced treatment of secondary effluents discharged by centralized activated sludge treatment plants fed on mixed textile/domestic effluents in order to produce a final effluent suitable for reuse in the textile factories. Activated carbon adsorption or membrane filtration (ranging from microfiltration to reverse osmosis) have been investigated at pilot plant scale in order to determine the most economical and performing advanced treatment. The increase in concentration of refractory pollutants and of salts discharged in the final effluents because of water recycling within the textile processes have been evaluated by relevant mass balances. A techno-economical analysis on the proposed treatment is also presented.

Abstract:
Single PCB congeners were determined in dated sediment cores taken from the three greatest Italian lakes. The PCB profile is fairly constant with time in the three lakes and similar to that of a mixture of Aroclor 1254 and 1260 (35 : 65). Qualitative and quantitative results are consistent with the amounts of Aroclor sold, showing a general trend towards less in recent sediments than in the 1970s. However, this decrease was sharper in Lakes Maggiore and Como, which in the past had PCB concentration peaks of 197 ng g-1 and 822 ng g-1, repectively, than in Lake Garda (peak 38 ng g-1). There is disequilibrium between the top sediment layer and the water column due to freshly settled algae, which can adsorb PCBs to a greater extent than can abiotic particulate matter. A comparison of PCB loads in rain and in sediment shows that there are still local sources of contamination in Lake Como. The net flux of less chlorinated PCBs from Lake Maggiore to the atmosphere indicates that this waterbody can be a source of pollution for the surrounding area.

Abstract:

This work reflects, analyzes and deals with institutional and methodological issues in relation to the Portuguese language as a foreign language and its teaching in the sphere of Italian universities. It combines all these issues with the author's experiences. It started from the initiative to build knowledge from notes on the experience of more than 16 years of language teaching in Italy. This work is intended to give voice to practice as construction of open and interactive teaching methods, which provide participation and engagement in the teacher and student relationship. In order to do so, a process of integration and exploration was established based on inventiveness, within a proposal for linguistic level evaluation. Qualitative and quantitative research were both employed, reflecting on the new technologies of the educational context, and their theoretical-conceptual current perspectives. The concepts of linguistics applied to the research was the contribution of other disciplines, investigating the teaching of the Portuguese language as a foreign language. It was concluded that there is a need to seek results through the intersection of factors involving various themes. The training and role of the teacher in the educational structure, the knowledge and use of new technologies, the choice of didactic material, are some of them. We learned the importance of a strong understanding of how the educational system is organized and what is expected of language teaching as a communication tool in globalized society. In this context, teaching/learning is not limited only to the act of class practice, but especially in what a class can provide as an experience in consolidating a new code.

Abstract: The aim of our study is to reflect on the three main characters of the work Os Nossos Antepassados as allegorical figurations of the modern subject. The route we choose to follow was to present a brief overview of Calvino and the relationship between the real and the fictional in his trajectory from the point of view of the Italian criticism. After that, as there are several definitions and understandings of what can be defined as modernity, we made explicit in which conceptions we are supported in this study. For the discussion about allegory conceptions, it was more fruitful to discuss this concept based on Walter Benjamin¿s elaborations. As we think that Calvino¿s work, in analysis here, keeps a tense relation with the social context of his writing period, we seek to situate such context, notably the specificity of Italian modernity, highlighting some historical events at that period when those three stories were written, emphasizing the debate on the Italian neorealism. Then, we present some of the performed analyzes on the work in study and proceeded to our analysis. Medardo¿s division, understood by us as mutilation, it is related to the concepts of concrete individual, particular and abstract bourgeois and universal subject-form. For us, the dynamics of modern social life is also a dynamic of the subjectivity, where the social form intendeds to require the individuals the constant erasing of their traces of individuality in favor of a form of general and abstract subjectivity. However, the concrete individuals are not machines that erase their life story for the benefit of social, i.e., there are tensions that for us come from this mutilation between the demands of the whole universal social and the private life. Cosme, in turn, is interpreted by us both as an allegory of the modern subject of the Instrumental Reason with his tendency to submit the world to the imperatives of the Reason and as a disappointment-aporia for this rationality: it is not known if Cosme is disappointed because he could not make the world be guided by the Reason or because he also noticed in the world's rationalization the roots of irrationality. Agilulfo seems an allegorical picture of what might be called the modern subject character armor, a subjectivity abstraction as the cavalryman expresses the denial of the individuality of the human being, in favor of a subject-form capable to the modern life, a subject that has actions and thoughts in line with the modern rhythm, accepting the experienced reality without making friction with it

Full text
Abstract:
The aim of this work is to assess the added value of the enhanced horizontal resolution in the probabilistic prediction of upper-level and surface fields. In particular, the performance of three different ensemble prediction systems were compared: ECMWF-ENS (51 members, 18 km horizontal resolution), COSMO-LEPS (16 members, 7 km horizontal resolution) and COSMO-2I-EPS (10 members, 2.2 km horizontal resolution). While the first 2 ensemble systems are operational, COSMO-2I-EPS is still in a development phase. Therefore, the intercomparison window covers a limited period, which ranges from 20 to 27 June 2016. In this work, both upper-level and surface variables are analyzed. As for upper-level, both temperature and the geopotential height at three different pressure levels are considered; the ensemble spread and the root mean square error are computed using the available Italian radiosounding data every 12/24 hours for verification. As for the surface, 2-metre temperature and precipitation cumulated over six hours are verified against the non-conventional station network provided by the National Civil Protection Department. The ensemble spread and the root mean square error of 2-metre temperature are computed, while a number of probabilistic scores (Brier Skill Score, Ranked Probability Score, Roc-Area, Outliers Percentage and others) are considered for precipitation. For both upper-level and surface verification, it turns out that the best scores are mainly obtained by the COSMO-based ensemble systems with higher horizontal resolution and lower ensemble size. The added value of high resolution in mesoscale ensemble systems seems to play a crucial role in the probabilistic prediction of atmospheric fields at all levels. In particular, the more detailed description of mesoscale and orographic-related processes in COSMO-ensembles provides an added value for the prediction of localised High-Impact Weather events.

Full text
Abstract:
La Coscienza di Zeno is Italo Svevos most elaborate novel, and deserves a place among the great works of the early 20th century literature. Svevos truly modern novel elects the irony as its formal principle. The ironical mechanism, linked to the romantic matrix of the concept, establishes a series of contradictions, ambiguities and negative reconfigurations which reveals the novels fails and limitations. Thus, the traditional notion of the novel as genre is deconstructed and formally re-elaborated, trough a negative and self-reflexive gesture dear to the tradition of the early 20th century literature. La Coscienza di Zeno aims initially to configure the totality of ones life, but its course ironically reveals the opposite, the fragmentary character of life, whose total unification is nothing but sham. The strongest ironic trace lies in the fact that its exactly through the novels critical deconstruction that Svevo´s work reconquers the capacity to represent, negatively, the reality.

Abstract:

Abstract:

Abstract:

Abstract:

Abstract:
Public work has always been considered a "different work" because respond to the State and citizens through the law and administrative regulation. Insiders enjoy greater protection than in the private sector and autonomous work. Two main typologies are distinguished, administrative works, professional works, both have been subjected to a regime of collective bargaining in a content of market regulation, like wage performance relations. With those different dimensions the question is what is public work today? A process of more transparency in organization is important when public administration are considered indispensable, for Italy and for European Union, as a response to the national and international political and economic crisis.

Abstract:
Ezio Tarantelli, probably the most important Italian labour economist, dedicated his short life, tragically broken by a terrorist ambush, to a full participation of labour in the management of the economy, in accordance with the Italian Constitution. His studies on the Phillips curve demonstrated the sub-optimality of monetary policy as a tool to combat stagflation, highlighting - on the contrary - the role of the unions in directing expectations and giving credibility to disinflation announcements. His proposal for government-social partners shared targets on inflation and incomes policy, based on international comparative studies of industrial relations systems, profoundly influenced the social pacts which allowed Italy to tame inflation, recover from the 1991-92 crisis, and access the euro since its launch.

Abstract:
This contribution intends to reflect on the attempt by social research in Italy to put the spotlight on violence and discrimination against LGBT+ people. The analysis is mainly based on two recent empirical research works: the first focuses on the critical analysis of the discourse on homophobia in Italy, both in the scientific sphere and in the public debate; the second aims at investigating, with a mixed methods survey, violence and discrimination determined by sexual orientation and gender identity in Emilia-Romagna.

Abstract:
The contribution aims to offer a critical analysis of the Italian discipline on the ways of acquiring citizenship. The paper analyzes the most problematic aspects of the 1992 law, showing its anachronisms and unreasonableness, and then highlights the profiles that most need reform. In particular, the status of the minor born or schooled in Italy and the naturalization procedure claim a profound revision.
