Abstract:
The World Health Organization states that 462 million adults are considered underweight, and malnutrition accounts for almost 50% of deaths for children under the age of 5. The objective of this thesis is to develop a causal theory to ending malnutrition. This thesis undertakes a comparative case study analysis of Peru and Brazil to outline what factors led to their success. Brazil and England are an ocean apart and their legal systems are very different. Nevertheless, when it comes to the practice of arbitration, after many years, Brazil adopted an irreversible pro-arbitration environment while England has been an arbitration friendly forum for more than a century. When the use of arbitration grows, inevitably, the question of what disputes can be submitted to arbitration will be raised. The natural tendency is to expand the range of disputes, but this could not be understood as a rule, there will always be a limit. Even though arbitration in Brazil and England a

The project is a transnational study of how filmic representations of urban criminals and marginal figures transformed as Brazil, France, and the Maghreb shifted from military governments to liberal democracies. Beyond ideological productions that simply produce positive or negative portrayals, I examine how films made under military regimes invite audiences to identify with anti-heroes while films made under liberal democracies invite admiration of institutional figures, turning standards of good and evil on their head. Candiotes, Alexander George. "A comparative study of the primary tax rebate system in South Africa in relation to Brazil and Australia." Diss., University of Pretoria, 2012. http://hdl.handle.net/2263/26702.

Full text
Abstract:
The South African primary rebate is governed by Section 6 of the Income Tax Act (58 of 1962). This primary tax rebate entitles taxpayers to a tax-free income portion up to a certain level depending on the rebate amount (also referred to as the tax threshold). The concept of tax thresholds in a tax system in essence adhere to the first tax canon of Smith (1776:676), which suggests that individuals should pay taxes in proportion to each person’s ability to pay tax. The implication of this tax canon is that individuals who have a limited or no ability to pay tax should only be subject to pay tax
