Abstract:
The comparative correlative construction (The more you eat, the fatter you get) has received sporadic attention in the literature, with few concrete results when it comes to our understanding of the syntax of the construction. This article analyzes comparative correlatives as well-behaved, crosslinguistically consistent correlative constructions whose initial clause is a relative clause adjoined to the second clause, which functions as the root of the construction. Examining comparative correlative data from a variety of languages, the article subjects the internal structure of the construction's two clauses to careful scrutiny, as well as the microscopic structure of the comparative-headed constituents introducing the two clauses.

Abstract:
This article discusses the comparative correlative constructions in French and five other European languages. A comparative correlative construction is a binary structure whose two parts are conjoined as Siamese twins (to use the fine metaphor invented by Savelli, a French linguist). The most striking feature of this construction is the fronting of the comparatives in two clauses which are interdependent and inseparable, though at first glance no clear relation can be seen, neither in French nor in English. It is hoped that this study of six European languages will contribute to an elucidation of the structuring of the two clauses and the relation between the two parts as well as the meaning they convey.

Abstract:
AbstractEnglish Comparative Correlatives (CCs) consist of two clauses, C1 and C2:[The more we get together,]C1 [the happier we’ll be.]C2Recently, large corpus studies based on the Corpus of Contemporary American English have unearthed various meso-constructions in English CCs using covarying–collexeme analysis. The present study tests these findings against data from the British National Corpus (BNC), aiming to replicate previous results against data from another standard variety of English (British English) and a corpus that is sampled from a wider range of registers. Over 2,000 CC tokens from the BNC were analyzed with regard to hypotactic features, filler types encountered as comparative elements, and deletion phenomena. Moreover, in contrast to earlier corpus studies (such as Hoffmann, Thomas, Jakob Horsch, and Thomas Brunner. 2019. “The more data, the better: a usage-based account of the English comparative correlative construction.” Cognitive Linguistics 30(1): 1–36), the present study also investigates the frequency of the semantically related C2C1 construction (You will be the happierC2, the more we get togetherC1) that previously has been found to be considerably less frequent than its counterpart. The results of the present analysis confirm that English CCs possess more paratactic than hypotactic features and, supporting most of the findings of Hoffmann, Horsch, and Brunner (2019) provide even stronger evidence for the existence of several symmetric meso-constructions.

Abstract:
The English comparative correlative construction (e.g., The more you eat, the fatter you get) embeds like an ordinary CP, and each of its clauses displays an ordinary long-distance dependency. However, the connection between the two clauses is not ordinary: they are connected paratactically in syntax, but the first clause is interpreted as if it were a subordinate clause. The construction's mixture of the general and the idiosyncratic at all levels of detail challenges the distinction between “core” and “periphery” in grammar and the assumption that some level of underlying syntax directly mirrors semantic structure.

Abstract:
In investment and trading, different CSR/CSE (Corporate Social Responsibility/Corporate Social Entrepreneurship) moral ethical firms, categorized in a number of groups, may be suitable for different financial instruments (i.e. USA sector ETFs) and different market volatility situations. For the purpose of this article we first (i) analyze the trading return performance of four CSR/CSE categories (in particular: green building, green products, green services, and green transportation); and then (ii) examine and comment the correlation between the market performance of a number of firms belonging in these four CSR/CSE categories and historical ETF market volatility. Finally, we (iii) suggest CSR firms as trading tools according to dominant market volatility. Other CSR/CSE categories (like: sustainability, executive sustainability, renewable energy, green IT, green ICT, etc.) would be examined in future research by following the introduced by this paper approach. Paper concludes that, in relatively less volatile markets the Green Transportation CSR/CSE ethical firms display better results. On the other hand, in strong market volatile situations it is better to trade Green Products CSR/CSE and Green Services CSR/CSE ethical firms. Finally, the Green Building CSR/CSE ethical firms are uncorrelated with the market volatility, as well as their performance is poor in all market cases.

Abstract The present paper presents a corpus-based analysis of a construction that has not been studied thoroughly yet, viz. the Dutch comparative correlative (e.g. hoe eerder, hoe beter het is; hoe eerder, des te beter het is ‘the sooner, the better it is’). Contrary to previous literature, this paper gives a more comprehensive description of the form and use of the comparative correlative. It shows, for instance, that there is a notable preference for verb-final word order in the second part of the hoe… hoe… construction, while hoe… des te… seems compatible with both verb-second and verb-final word order. In addition, genre differences are attested, as well as differences between the Netherlands and Belgium, e.g. in the use of conjunctions within the construction.

Abstract:
The correlation analysis of vocal systems of the Russian and Slovak languages, in which phonological spaces are determined by the number and set of phoneme-forming differential characteristics of vowels, was performed. The relevance of the study is determined by the fact that the conscious assimilation of the Russian and Slovak languages is favorable at all levels of the language systems because of their kinship and proximity. However, even in this case, there are difficulties leading to active interference, especially at the phonetic level. For the first time, a correlation description of the phonemes composition of the Russian and Slovak vowels was carried out. It is correlative linguistics that has some advantages in terms of solving the practical problems of comparative linguistics. The study was performed in order to update the phonetic similarities in a closely related language environment, where the fact of kinship of languages often leads to the fact that the learner pays attention only to similarities, thereby ignoring differences in the similarities themselves. The terms of correlative linguistics were used: antecedent, correlate, and correspondence. As a result of the study, the following findings were made: five relatively complete correspondences with common phoneme-forming signs, five partial matches stating the absence of certain properties characteristic of the phoneme of the correlate, six zero matches indicating the presence of an antecedent sign, which is not typical for the phonetic system of the correlate and vice versa. It was revealed that the index of the degree of vocalism conformity in the Russian and Slovak languages is 0.25.

Abstract:
Routine morphological analyses usually include investigations by light microscopy (LM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Each of these techniques provides specific information on tissue morphology and all the obtained results are then combined to give an in-depth morphological overview of the examined sample. The limitations of this traditional comparative microscopy lie in the fact that each technique requires a different experimental sample, so that many specimens are necessary and the combined results come from different samples. The present study describes a technical procedure of correlative microscopy, which allows us to examine the same bone section first by LM and then, after appropriate processing, by SEM or TEM. Thanks to the possibility of analyzing the same undecalcified bone sections both by LM and SEM, the approach described in the present study allows us to make very accurate evaluations of old/new bone morphology at the bone-implant interface.

In the last few years there has been a mild explosion in both microscopy and cytometry. in part, this has been a more sensitive understanding of new fluorescent chemicals or probes as well as the ability to transfect fluorescent proteins into cells. in part, this has also been a case of substantial improvement in instruments, electronics, computers, lasers and sensors. in this session, we hope to examine correlative and comparative methods that may improve the quality of data. This is an introduction to session 29, Correlative Fluorescent Microscopy and Flow Cytometry Techniques, and the first time the Microscopy Society of America has sponsored a session that involves flow cytometry. Flow cytometry offers several statistical advantages over standard microscopies in evaluating populations of cells. Flow cytometry also facilitates a statistical precision in evaluating fluorescence and fluorescence changes in both chemical probes and transfected fluorescent proteins.

Abstract:
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to counter-propose a new approach of SWOT analysis, which can be used in the strategic planning of the contemporary organizations. Design/methodology/approach This paper, after presenting the conceptual context of the existing (conventional) SWOT analysis, presents the existing criticism within the international literature. Then, it articulates gradually the new evolutionary and correlative SWOT analysis, by using the approaches and the literature of evolutionary economics, and the Stra.Tech.Man approach in business dynamics. In conclusion, it presents the new conceptual framework on which a new correlative SWOT analysis can be based. Findings Main finding of this research is that the interpretation of the conventional SWOT analysis tends to study the strengths and the weaknesses of the business with an analytical dichotomy. The conventional SWOT analysis conceptualizes, usually implicitly, the opportunities and threats of the external environment as having the same impact to all the socioeconomic agents, without exception. However, by using a correlative interpretation of SWOT analysis, we understand that the opportunities and threats are always “potential,” depending on the organization’s strategic capability to exercise its comparative strengths and weaknesses. Originality/value In the existing literature of SWOT analysis, despite the growing criticism, there is no critique that can give systemic and correlative answers to the articulation of business strategy in SWOT terms. The Stra.Tech.Man approach, also, is a conceptual framework to study the evolutionary adaptation of all the kinds of socioeconomic organizations.

Abstract:
AbstractLanguages are complex systems that allow speakers to produce novel grammatical utterances. Yet, linguists differ as to how general and abstract they think the mental representation of speakers have to be to give rise to this grammatical creativity. In order to shed light on these questions, the present study looks at one specific construction type, English comparative correlatives, that turns out to be particularly interesting in this context: on the one hand it has been described in terms of one of the most abstract and general syntactic rules, on the other hand it shows specific idiomatic structures that are often produced without any variation (e.g. the more, the merrier). While the syntax and semantics of the English Comparative Correlative (CC) construction have received considerable attention in the literature, so far only a small number of usage-based analyses have been published on the topic. These either only relied on small databases or focussed only on the productivity of one slot in the construction. In contrast to this, the present study analyses more than 1,400 CC tokens sampled from COCA. The results of the present study yield important results concerning English CC constructions, including the schematicity and generality of their mental representations.

In this paper, I will examine the syntactic and semantic properties of a Latin correlative construction, the so-called comparative conditional. I will investigate the extent to which this construction inherits its formal and interpretive features from constructions needed independently in the grammar. While the syntactic properties of the comparative conditional are highly motivated, the semantics of the construction is idiosyncratic: there is evidence to indicate that the construction is polysemous, having two related scalar interpretations.

Abstract:
Abstract The paper addresses the emergence and development of the Chinese correlative comparative construction (CrCC) from the perspective of constructionalization. Most previous historical studies of the CrCC take a grammaticalization approach (e.g., Long 2013), focusing mainly on morphosyntax alone rather than investigating syntax and semantics in an integrated way. However, the architecture of construction grammar requires approaching linguistic analysis with both form and meaning equally in mind. This approach suggests that what have sometimes been considered to be merely different formal expressions of the CrCC are in fact two different constructions, one correlative, and the other a simple incremental. We identify the critical contexts (see Diewald & Smirnova 2010) that by hypothesis enabled the constructionalization of the CrCC, and point to the importance of considering network reorganization and multiple sources in the development of the simple incremental construction (see e.g., Boas 2008; Van de Velde et al. 2013).

The steam flooding is one common way used to enhance oil recovery of heavy oil reservoir. It is difficult to use conventional treatment on steam flooding analysis because of numerous effective factors, complex relationships and no certain mapping relation among those factors. This paper applies grey relationship method to analyze correlative degree of the factors which effect on steam flooding, and then selects steam absorption effect as the comparative indicator, finally gets a sort of steam flooding effect of different parameters. Each correlation degree has a good match with steam flooding effect, and the higher of correlation degree the better of steam flooding effect. Grey relationship is an effective, fast and accurate method for appraising steam flooding effect.

Abstract:
Abstract This paper deals with the complex sentences in Spanish formed by the correlation tanto(s)~tanta(s)... que (i.e. Comí tanto que me sentó mal ‘I ate so much that I felt bad’). In opposition to the majority of the previous analyses, which treat que as an adjacent of the quantified phrase with tanto, we will argue that tanto... que is not a functional group nor a maximal projection lexically generated, but a long-distance correlation that is semantically and pragmatically conditioned. In particular, we will defend that tanto is an evaluative scalar quantifier that behaves like correlatives do: it maximizes the meaning of its clause and is pragmatically significant (it marks contrastive focus by means of intensive accent and intonation and may give rise to an informative structure of topic-comment). In addition, the clause with que behaves like the typical correlates: it is always postposed to the correlative and it rejects recursive operations (like coordination). As occurs in the comparative correlatives from some Germanic languages and the relative correlatives in languages like Hindi, the clause with que is an adjunct of the first clause. Lastly, and following Dayal’s work on relative correlatives in Hindi (1995), we will suggest that tanto is a two-place quantifier linking a propositional variable, instantiated by the clause with que.

Abstract:
To solve the problems presented by the rational determination of the reduction mode in the traditional strength reduction method and to overcome the difficulty in determining double safety factors from the existing double reduction factors method, a nonproportional relationship between the cohesion reduction factor and the internal friction angle reduction factor is established for a case in which the strength parameter distribution obeys the linear attenuation assumption. By introducing this correlation into the traditional strength reduction finite element method, the nonproportional correlative reduction finite element method for slope strength parameters is proposed. To verify the reliability of the proposed method, the nonproportional correlation is introduced into Bishop’s slice method, yielding the nonproportional double safety factors of Bishop’s slice method. For the whole safety storage of the slope based on the double safety factors, a comprehensive safety factor with the contribution of the shear strength parameter to the sliding resistance force as weight is proposed. Finally, in combination with an example and a comparative analysis of the slope sliding surface positions and the comprehensive safety factors for three different types of reduction modes with two types of methods, the rationality and reliability of this method were validated.

Abstract:
Thomas Hoffmann's article proposes a cognitively viable theoretical framework for explaining how constructions can emerge in the history of a language. The case which Hoffmann discusses is the coming into being of the comparative correlative construction of the type The smaller a car is, the easier it is to park in late Old English and early Middle English. While car sizes and parking spaces were perhaps not a matter for discussion among speakers of that time, it was for them as important as it is for us to be able to say that if any two things differ in one respect, then they also differ in another (for details on the construction's semantics, see Beck 1997; Cappelle 2011). In this particular comparative correlative construction, the first part (C1, for ‘clause 1’) is interpreted as standing in a sort of protasis relation to the apodosis-like second part (C2, for ‘clause 2’). That is, this C1C2 construction reflects, in an iconically appropriate way, the order of a hypothetical statement followed by its consequence.

Abstract:
The various problems and difficulties faced by prisoners are challenges that must be faced in serving a sentence. Efforts in overcoming changes and challenges faced by prisoners are closely related to resilience. Resilience is the ability of individuals to deal with conditions of difficulty or suffering (Connor & Davidson, 2003). Quantitative research methods in this study use comparative research. According to Silalahi Ulber (2005) comparative research is research that compares two or more symptoms. Comparative research can be in the form of descriptive comparative (descriptive comparative) or correlative comparative (correlation comparative). In this study, researchers wanted to compare the level of drug user resilience reviewed based on the age level of women fostered citizens in Lapas II A Martapura. Research Results Respondents used in this study were 110 Former Citizens of Former Drug Users in Class II A Women's Prison in Martapura, with details as follows from 110 assisted residents, as many as 36 (32.7%) are inmates aged 40 - 65 years, and 74 (67.3%) are inmates under the age of 40 years. Based on data analysis that has been done using Pearson Product Moment analysis, obtained a coefficient (r) of 0.195 with a significance value (p) of 0.041 <0.05, this shows that there is a positive relationship between age and resilience ability. From the results of data analysis, the coefficient of variable determination (r2) was 0.038 (3.8%). This shows that the effect of age on increasing resilience ability is 3.8%, and the remaining 96.2% is influenced by other factors. Keywords: Resilience, Drug Users, Assisted Residents

Abstract The aims of this study were to identify psychological hardiness and competitiveness profiles and to investigate the relationship between these variables among female student athletes in individual and team sports and also to compare them in these variables. In this descriptive (correlative and comparative) type of study two standard questionnaires assessing psychological hardiness (Zarere, 2011) and competitiveness (Ganji, 2012) with reliability scores of f 0.78 and 0.81 respectively were used. Statistical Population of the Study consisted of all female student-athletes who competed in high school student national sport tournament in the 2012-2013 school years. Statistical sample of the study was 269 athletes (79 individual sports, 190 team sports) who were selected according to Morgan table using a stratified sampling method proportional to size. Both descriptive statistics (frequency tables and index (mean) and dispersion) and inferential statistics (Kolomogorov–Smirnov test to determine normal or abnormal distribution of variables and Pearson’s correlation, independent t test were used to analyze the data. Results of the study showed significant differences between female student athletes in individual and team sports regarding psychological hardiness and competitiveness. Individual sports athletes were more competitive and hard headed than team sports athletes. Significant correlation was observed between these variables in female student athletes in individual and team sports.

Abstract:
Abstract The Slovak Comparative Correlative (CC) construction has received little attention, although it is interesting regarding both its semantics and its form: As discussed in Horsch (2019), CCs are characterized by their complex symmetric (parallel change over time) and asymmetric (cause-effect) semantics, which are encoded in a biclausal structure in which each clause consists of a combination of fixed material and obligatory/optional slots. Typically, the first clause (C1) encodes a cause/protasis, and precedes the second clause (C2), which encodes an effect/apodosis: [čím bližšie sa pozeráš,]C1 [tým lepšie vidíš.]C2 ‘the closer you look, the better you see.’ However, there are also structures that retain the same meaning but in which C2 precedes C1 (often referred to as CC’): [Tým lepšie vidíš]C2 [čím bližšie sa pozeráš.]C1. ‘You see the better, the closer you look.’ Additionally, there is a variant in Slovak where the clause precedes the clause-initial element and comparative element: [Vidíš tým lepšie,]C2 [čím bližšie sa pozeráš.]C1. Embedded in a Usage-based Construction Grammar approach, this is the first large-scale corpus study to investigate the C2C1 order in Slovak, and how semantics influences its formal properties. It is argued that both the significantly higher amount of C1C2 order in the corpus data and the significantly higher amount of C2C1 structures in which the clause precedes the comparative element in C2 can be explained with the principle of iconicity (linguistic form is influenced by the semantics of a construction), which makes certain strings easier to process and thus leads to performance preference. From a cross-linguistic perspective, the present investigation provides evidence in support of Goldberg’s Tenet #5 (2003, p. 219), which posits that cross-linguistic generalizations can be accounted for with general cognitive constraints.

Abstract:
This article discussed the specifics of the translation of comparative constructions in literature from Tatar into Russian. It also suggested methods for the full-fledged translation of such constructions according to semantics and functional features of conjunctions. Postpositions were the main method to represent comparative constructions in simple and complex sentences in Tatar. Conjunctions, the instrumental case of the noun and other means, could further express the meanings of such postpositions when translated into Russian. The analysis of translation of comparative constructions helped to identify the integral and the differential in the semantics and functioning of the conjunctions, which not only connected the components of the comparative constructions, but also created imagery. Using comparative constructions, writers and translators could refer both to the general concepts inherent in their native culture, and to their personal worldview. This seemed possible only with a preliminary comparative analysis of the semantics and the structure of lexical units. Analyzing the translations of literary texts, some functional and semantic correspondences were revealed: comparative postpositions such as kebek, syman, kuk, etc. and Russian comparative conjunctions such as As if for sure, etc. (Eng. like, as if, kind of); relative pair words in Tatar and correlative pairs in Russian; affixes of adverbs such as -cha/-che, -day/- dey in Tatar and the instrumental case of the noun in Russian.

Abstract:
Biological embedding occurs when life experience alters biological processes to affect later life health and well-being. Although extensive correlative data exist supporting the notion that epigenetic mechanisms such as DNA methylation underlie biological embedding, causal data are lacking. We describe specific epigenetic mechanisms and their potential roles in the biological embedding of experience. We also consider the nuanced relationships between the genome, the epigenome, and gene expression. Our ability to connect biological embedding to the epigenetic landscape in its complexity is challenging and complicated by the influence of multiple factors. These include cell type, age, the timing of experience, sex, and DNA sequence. Recent advances in molecular profiling and epigenome editing, combined with the use of comparative animal and human longitudinal studies, should enable this field to transition from correlative to causal analyses.

Abstract:
In this article, the main parameter of the correlative-interferometric direction finding method with twodimensional correlative processing of spatial signal in the aperture of a linear antenna array (AA) is determined as the value of spatial shift within the AA aperture. The corresponding objective function is also formed. Analytical optimization of this parameter is presented and a comparative analysis of analytical calculations based on simulation results is conducted. In the simulation, a range of dependencies of the middle square deviation of estimation of direction on the value of the spatial shift for a signal-to-noise ratio of 0 dB, for minimum 3-sample and 4-sample Blackman-Harris windows of the spectral analysis, is received. The value of the middle square deviation of estimation of direction will be minimal and will equal 0.02 degrees using a minimum 3-sample Blackman-Harris window with the −67 dB level of side lobes. It offers high noise immunity and high accuracy of direction finding.

Abstract:
The applicability of pseudo-random code functions in impulse-code seismic concentration to oil and gas seismology problemsolving has been assessed through the comparative analysis of correlation functions in compliance with pseudo-random pulse sequences and linear change in pulse repetition sequences. The research shows that the correlation functions’ main peaks spectrums of pseudo-random pulse sequences are almost equal to the single impulses’ spectrums used for the sequences development. The given circumstance reflects the general possibility of pseudo-random sequences applicability to oil and gas seismology problemsolving. However, pseudo-random sequences are characterised by the increased interference level of correlative transformation, which makes the use of pseudo-random code functions in oil and gas seismology inappropriate. It is noted that not only are impulsecode pseudo-random signals characterised by high-amplitude correlation noise, but also all the other pseudo-random complex signals, e.g. random quasi-harmonic signals, contained in modern vibroseis management systems.

Objective. To compare and analyze the relevance and applied value of chronic liver disease questionnaire (CLDQ) and Traditional Chinese Medicine liver disease questionnaire (TCMLDQ) in patients with posthepatitic cirrhosis.Methods. The data of 146 patients' scales of CLDQ and TCMLDQ which based on the characteristics of chinese medical symptoms were collected. We made comparative analysis of the relationship between these two scales by the linear regression model and canonical correlation method and evaluated the advantages and disadvantages of two scales about its items setting and dimension definition.Result. There is a negative correlation in total scores between the two scales and the linear regression equation:CLDQ=239.38−1.232TCMLDQ. The further canonical correlation analysis was used to analyze the two extracted canonical correlative variables with significances (P<0.05), and the results showed that the overall negative correlation between the two scales mainly came from contributions of both the four dimensions of TCMLDQ (CS, GSYX, GYPX, and OS) and the five dimensions of CLDQ (AS, FA, SS, AC, and EF).Conclusion. These two scales have good consistency in the evaluation of severity and life quality of liver cirrhosis patients, so we suggested that TCMLDQ can be used to evaluate the severity and life quality of patients with posthepatitic cirrhosis.

AbstractThe purpose of this study was to investigate significant measures between indicators / factors associated to compulsive Internet use and academic procrastination behaviors, for a sample of students, from Romanian education institutions. Previous transcultural findings indicate that compulsive Internet use and procrastination behaviours, but in most cases investigated separately, can interfere, distract, delay and / or have a negative impact on academic work / achievement (completing reading assignments, homework, studying for exams / academic failure), task performance and quality of life (personal and social obligations). Romanian participants were asked on a voluntary basis and with informed consent to complete demographic data and questionnaires about internet use (the Romanian translated and adapted version of The Compulsive Internet Use Scale, CIUS, developed by Meerkerk, G.-J., Van Den Eijnden, R. J. J. M., Vermulst, A. A., & Garretsen, H. F. L., 2009 [4] [5]) and procrastination behaviors (the Romanian translated and adapted version of The Procrastination Assessment Scale - for Students, PASS, designed by Solomon and Rothblum, 1984 [8] [9]). They also were informed that their responses are confidential: 211 valid surveys from 111 college undergraduates and 100 high-school students were collected for analysis. Results identified significant comparative data and correlative indicators of compulsive Internet use in predicting specific procrastination behaviors, for the 211 participants. Implications and future methodological research and coping strategies of this topic were discussed.

Abstract:
This paper shows a simple correlation between elastic and inelastic dynamic pipework responses enabling realistic/pessimistic prediction of dynamic pipework responses beyond the elastic range using current elastic aseismic design procedures. In this paper, theoretical studies relating dynamic responses directly to nonlinear material stress/strain characteristics show how such a correlation arises, particularly for materials exhibiting a well-defined yield point inflection, and the evaluation of the correlative parameters (moduli and damping factors). The ABAQUS computer program was used to study and simulate the dynamic inelastic response characteristics of a pressurized tube in the form of simple beam and a pressurized cantilevered elbow (in-plane responses). Using comparative dynamic test results for these components, the foregoing design concepts were verified for representative cyclic material characteristics. So, given appropriate cyclic material characteristics, pessimistic incremental and reverse cyclic fatigue strains may be simply evaluated for loadings beyond the elastic range (for assessment against ASME fatigue criteria) using existing design techniques as shown in the paper.

Abstract:
Mosher said that intranasal ethmoidectomy is the most dangerous and terrifying. He said that in the mid-twentieth century. Endoscopy changed this view significantly. Since the commencement of medication, various endeavours have been made to light up and analyse within the different empty depressions situated inside the body.A hospital-based comparative and correlative study was undertaken with 50 patients. The research assessed the clinicoradiological comparison of obstructive ostiomeatal complex in cases of rhinosinusitis. Majority (28%) patients were 31-40 years in the age group. The 34.2±12.50 years was the mean age of patients.60% patients were males. The most common symptoms were nasal obstruction (80%) followed by headache (76%), nasal discharge (42%), postnasal discharge (40%), sneezing (28%) and epistaxis (20%). Osteomeatal complex and maxillary sinus were the most frequently affected regions seen in 88% of patients. The most common sign is purulent middle meatal discharge in 86% of patients. The next most common sign seen is deviated nasal septum in 46% of the patients. 62% of the patients in our study suffered from chronic rhinosinusitis. Out of 50 cases, 33 cases have septal deviation using DNE. Uncinate attachment to the skull base is seen in 18 (36%) cases each on the right, and 17 (34%) left side in both DNE and CT. In DNE 7 (14%) cases show middle turbinate hypertrophy on the right side. There was statistically significant correlation between Middle turbinate: concha bullosa and Maxillary sinus (r=0.621; p=0.0005), Pneumatiseduncinate and Anterior ethmoids (r=0.452; p=0.0001), Aggernasi and Frontal sinus (r=0.318; p=0.024) and Middle turbinate: paradoxical and Maxillary sinus (r=0.864; p=0.0001). The significance of variations is that they impair the normal drainage pathway, hinder endoscopic access to distal areas and increase the risk of endoscopic mishaps.

Abstract:
The methods for subsynchronous oscillation mitigation based on SVC and STATCOM are analyzed in this paper. According to the IEEE first benchmark model, the electrical damping coefficients respectively provided by SVC and STATCOM connected at the generator terminal, as well as positive damping condition, are deduced by complex torque coefficient approach. Correlative factors which influence the two positive dampings are compared. The analysis results indicate that the positive damping provided by SVC is proportional to the size of system voltage. The positive damping provided by STATCOM is not affected by the size of system voltage, which is mostly proportional to the subsynchronous voltage produced itself. The controllers of SVC and STATCOM are designed and the positive dampings separately offered by SVC and STATCOM are optimized by phase compensation with test signal method. The time domain simulation reveals that STATCOM has stronger damping ability than SVC in the case of short circuit fault.

Abstract:
3588 Background: Randomized trials involving agents targeting oncogene addicted tumors have greatly increased over the past decade. Whether clinical response rates can predict or correlate with efficacy measures such as progression-free survival (PFS) or overall survival (OS) has not been established in molecularly enriched patient populations. In this meta-analysis, we investigated whether improvements in objective response rate (ORR) in comparative trials using targeted agents could serve as a potential surrogate endpoint for improvements in PFS or OS in populations with oncogene addicted cancer. Methods: CT.gov and MEDLINE databases were queried (using commercial text mining software I2E) for randomized, phase 3 clinical trials based on the following prospectively defined criteria: (1) use of agents targeting EGFR activating mutations (erlotinib, gefitinib, afatinib, dacomitinib, osimertinib), ALK and ROS1 rearrangements (crizotinib, ceritinib, alectinib), BRAF V600E or V600K mutations (dabrafenib), and BCR-ABL fusion protein (imatinib, dasatinib, nilotinib, ponatinib); (2) must include molecularly enriched trial populations (biomarker subgroup data included if available); (3) control arms should not include targeted agents directed towards those molecularly enriched populations. ORR, OS, and PFS data were manually extracted from the relevant studies and correlative analyses (weighted Pearson correlation) were performed. Results: 61 trials were identified with 15 ultimately meeting the prespecified criteria. ORR effect size (both the ORR difference and log odds ratio) and the log PFS hazard ratio were strongly correlated (-0.78, p-value = 0.0007). No significant correlation was found between ORR and OS. Conclusions: In our analyses, a strong correlation between ORR and PFS was found in randomized clinical trials investigating agents targeting oncogene-driven cancers. Establishing a correlation between ORR and OS was limited, most probably due to confounding factors such as treatment cross-over following progression, number of subsequent therapies and long post-progression survival in this setting. These findings further warrant the use of ORR as a surrogate for PFS in biomarker-driven studies.

Instead of considering possible mutual correlative influences, their work is considered with regard to a possible systematic comparison. Against this background Cassirer and Bloch make use of different means to thematize the mediality of culture.

Abstract:
A single-fibre microfiltration system was employed to investigate the importance of various operating and sludge property parameters to the membrane fouling during sludge filtration. The sludge was obtained from a submerged membrane bioreactor (SMBR). A series of comparative and correlative filtration and fouling tests were conducted on the influence of the operating variables, sludge properties and the liquid-phase organic substances on the membrane fouling development. The test results were analysed statistically with Pearson's correlation coefficients and the stepwise multi-variable linear regression. According to the statistical evaluation, the membrane fouling rate has a positive correlation with the biopolymer cluster (BPC) concentration, sludge concentration (mixed liquor suspended solids, MLSS), filtration flux and viscosity, a negative correlation with the cross-flow velocity, and a weak correlation with the extracellular polymeric substances and soluble microbial products. BPC appear to be the most important factor to membrane fouling development during the sludge filtration, followed by the filtration flux and MLSS concentration. The cross-flow rate also is important to the fouling control. It is argued that, during membrane filtration of SMBR sludge, BPC interact with sludge flocs at the membrane surface to facilitate the deposition of the sludge cake layer, leading to serious membrane fouling.
