Reviewing conference materials, in addition to informing, involves evaluating the collection as a book that represents the scientific coverage of the stated topics now. The book requires integrity, and therefore, the principle (more often principles) of systematization of parts (articles) within it. The articles in the collection are arranged in three sections (they are not singled out in any way): first 12 theoretical, then 25 somehow related to comparative literature, and the last 6 are devoted to

The article explores the difference between the category of tertium comparationis and a C-fi eld. The C-fi eld can be involved in different aspects of the analysis, for example the fi eld of one discipline (e.g. models of literary genres). The letter as genre exemplifi es the presence of hidden connections between its literary, administrative and pastoral forms. The method appears to be especially useful in the reconstructions of past phenomena (works, movements, periods etc.).

Abstract:
This dissertation charts an intellectual history of collaborations centered on the beginning of socio-critical discourse on photography. I study the critically misread oeuvre of photographer and sociologist Gisèle Freund to reconfigure a transatlantic map of concrete personal, literary, and critical connections during the 1930s and ’40s. In examining Freund’s oeuvre, I suggest a crucial intervention on the notion of aura — Walter Benjamin’s trademark for understanding the dialectics of the original and its reproduction. I advance a reading in support of aura that challenges the canonical “The

Abstract:
This study traces the cultural interplay between Irish and Old English literary landscapes. Combining an ecocritical approach to reading representations of the landscape with a comparatist perspective, each chapter shows that the landscape and the natural world were not only static motifs, but that they allow for the observation of literary influence. The first chapter investigates the political use of the landscape in Irish and Anglo-Saxon saints’ Lives. I argue that the anonymous author of the Life of Cuthbert was following a common Irish hagiographic practice of using place-names to claim c

Collage Grrrls represents the first sustained attempt to define, historicise and analyse the contentious genre of ‘anti-chick lit’. In this thesis, I argue that anti-chick lit – while critically neglected – represents a key development in women’s writing from the 1990s onwards; alighting on the girl and the grrrl as figures of contradiction and transitional possibility, anti-chick fictions generate spaces in which the darker aspects of female experience – from mental illness, self-harming and unwanted pregnancies, to sexual excess and consumerism – can be creatively (re)imagined. Abstract:
Let it Be Consumption!: Modern Jewish Writing and the Literary Capital of Tuberculosis investigates the relationship between literary production and the cultural experience of illness. Focusing attention on the history of modern Yiddish and Hebrew literature, this study examines how a diagnosis of tuberculosis mobilized literary and financial support on behalf of the ailing writer. At the same time, the disease itself became a subject of concern in the writer’s creative oeuvre and literary self-fashioning.
