Full textThe aim of this thesis is to investigate the social and language development of children and adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) through the study of the non-literal aspects of language. Our first study explores the developmental trajectories of the social and language inferential processes underlying the understanding of this implicit dimension of language, as well as their predictive factors. This longitudinal study involved 12 children and adolescents with ASDs compared to their controls. Our second study involved the development and evaluation of a social skills training group (SSTG) for four adolescents with ASDs. This support was designed to address the social and language difficulties of people with ASD. Rather than a stable global deficit, the results of the first study highlight a partial and progressive alteration of the inferential capacities of the participants with an ASD. Regarding the predictive factors explored (chronological age, language level, executive functions), the performance of all participants was associated with chronological age. Among executive functions, only working memory appears as a predictive factor, and only for participants with an ASD. Concerning our second study, our results highlight the beneficial effect of the SSTG implemented for the four adolescents who participated. Our work opens perspectives in terms of evaluation and remediation to promote the development of inferential capacities in people with an ASD

Full textFacial emotionanl expression recognition in Pervasive Developpemental Disorders (PDD) are atypic and contribute to social skills difficulties for children and adolescents with PDD, including without intellectual disabilities. Hypothesis: predictiv factors exist in facial emotional expression recognition in PDD. Objectives: 1) characterize the abilities of facial emotional expressions recognition of 32 children and adolescents; 2) identify risk or protective factors in the development of these abilities. Compare our results with a control group of 37 typical peers. Our study is cross-sectional, descriptive and analytical. The primary point was the number of errors in the Danva 2F, which is a validated and standardized assessment tool (basic emotional expression). Results: show that our clinical group made significantly more errors in the recognition of facial emotional expressions than what is observed in population and standardized in our control population. Risk factors of the number of errors made in the Danva are highlighted: the intensity of socio-communicative disorders present as measured by the ADOS (ORa=2,08 ; IC 95%= [1,02/4,22] ; p=0,006). Protective factors are identified, linked to a low of stereotyped and repetitive patterns score below the threshold of the area 3 of the ADI (DANVA AF: ORa=0,078 ; IC 95%= [0,007/0,883] ; p=0,02. DANVA CF: ORa: 0,05 ; IC 95%= [0,005/0,44] ; p=0,0004). Conclusion: results allow us to observe a disorder of the ability to recognize facial expressions in our clinical group and the presence of risk factors and protective factors related to it. Perspectives: use a larger sample to study clinical parameters more related to emotional processing, our clinical work emphasizes the importance of early intervention multimodal, to improve the capacity of emotional processing

Full textOne of the skills to be developed in mathematics for elementary school students is the skill of solving mathematical problems. As this skill generally represents a challenge for them, we are interested in the role of students' social skills (Goldstein and Mcginnis, 1997; Hanin and Van Nieuwenhoven, 2018), in its development. Thus, for the experimental phase, we proposed five problem situations to solve to two subgroups of four 10-year-old students. These problem situations were first worked on an individual basis. The interactions between the students of each team were recorded and transcribed in verbatim for analysis. Observation grids of the manifestations of the different types of social skills supplemented this study. The analysis of interactions, grids and productions tend to show that social skills of an organizational, functional, emotional and social type, evolve more or less closely with the productions produced by the members of the two groups.
