We start with studying the electromagnetic properties of s-wave superconductors near a ferromagnetic instability. By using a generalized Ginzburg-Landau theory and scaling arguments, we show that competition between magnetic order and superconducting order can change the scaling of observables. Significant progress has been made in studying strongly correlated electronic systems with major focus on understanding high-temperature superconductivity. At the center of these studies are the so-called cuprates, which are characterized by a quasi-2D Copper-Oxide plane in which superconductivity is believed to arise. From the theoretical point of view, the complex electronic structure of these materials makes a fully ab initio many-body computation a formidable task, so we are forced to focus on minimal models that can reproduce the physics, the most well known of which is known as the Hubba

Long before China promulgated the official One Belt One Road initiatives, vast networks of cross-border exchanges already existed across Asia and Eurasia. The dynamics of such trade and resource flows have largely been outside state control, and are pushed to the realm of the shadow economy. The official initiative is a state-driven attempt to enhance the orderly flow of resources across countries along the Belt and Road, hence extending the reach of the states to the shadow economies. This volume offers a bottom-up view of the transborder informal exchanges across Asia and Eurasia, and analys

While in the case of other Italian cities, especially Theoderic’s capital, Ravenna, Cassiodorus’s letters emphasized the efficiency of building activity in terms of obedience to the king’s orders, in Rome Theoderic’s building activity is used to show local resistance. This group dealt with the repression of frequently occurring abuses, such as the misappropriation by private citizens of public building structures

This paper is concerned with the task of collaborative density estimation in the distributed multi-task setting. Major application scenarios include collaborative anomaly detection among distributed industrial assets owned by different companies competing with each other. Of critical importance here is to achieve two conflicting goals at once: data privacy and collaboration. To this end, we propose a new framework for collaborative dictionary learning. By using a mixture of the exponential family, we show that collaborative learning can be nicely separated into three steps: local updates, glob
