Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to identify and examine the key foreign direct investment theories. The history and origins of FDI theories were considered, prior to dwelling in-depth on the theories themselves. FDI theories were classified under macroeconomic and microeconomic perspectives. Macroeconomic FDI theories emphasize country-specific factors, and are more aligned to trade and international economics, whereas microeconomic FDI theories are firm-specific, relate to ownership and internalisation benefits and lean towards an industrial economics, market imperfections bias. FDI theories are fairly complex to explain and apply. This paper is purely qualitative in nature, and attempted to explain the different FDI theories by providing an analyisis of the key theories used in many scholarly works.

Abstract:
This research aims to examine student satisfaction at higher education institutions through the estimation of a student satisfaction index (SSI) by simultaneously building a strategic management map (SMM) to help higher education leaders identify the areas for improvement at their institutions during Covid-19 induced hybrid education in Turkish Higher Education. The research was carried out with university students at a well-known foundation university in Turkey during Covid-19 pandemic. American Customer Satisfaction Model (ACSI) was used as a lens of analyisis to demonstrate the causal relationship between the antecedents and consequences of student satisfaction in Turkish Higher Education. The partial least squares (PLS) estimation was employed to test the model and obtain the SSI score. Given the complex nature of student satisfaction and loyalty, the model was found to adequately predict overall student satisfaction and loyalty. SSI score of 64.95 was found to be lower than the weighted average of all sectors in the United States in 2021. The SMM that was built to examine the relative importance of each quality attributes demonstrated that the perceived utility/benefit and interactional/process-based quality attributes have the greatest positive influence on satisfaction score.

Abstract:
Freud's path to the Oedipus complex reveals conceptual inconsistencies. These uncertainties concern fathers, brothers and sons, and the place of the oedipal triad within the family romance. Freud's uncovering of the Oedipus complex emerged, in large part, from his self-analyis of his childhood years in Freiberg. Freud's father was 20 years older than his third wife, and had two adult sons, all of whom lived in Freiberg. In 1897, when Freud announces the Oedipus complex, he stresses his love of his mother and jealousy of his father. Yet in 1924 Freud wrote that his adult brother, Philipp, had taken his father's place as the child's rival. The oedipal complex alters if there are four players rather than three. Freud's concept of an oedipal triangle does not adequately explain the psychological dynamics of his childhood. Fuller conceptual clarity would occur if the dynamics of the Oedipus complex were placed within the family context in which it unfolds.

Abstract:
In recent years microcomputers have become more powerful and for some purposes are now able to compete with minis and mainframe computers. It is now possible to implement a wide variety of CAD packages and linear finite-element stress analysis programmes on microcomputers, but the solution of non-linear problems - for example, forging - is more complex. This paper shows that a microcomputer can, nevertheless, be used for the analysis of a bulk metal forming process where there are both geometric and material non-linearities. The programs give reliable estimates of metal flow, grid distortions, stress, and strain distributions in the workpiece, as well as the forming force. An elastic-plastic finite-element method is used, with SSS-Fortran as the computing language. The results of such simulations can be used in-house to form the basis of improved forging die design, and, hence, a better final product, without the need for much of the expensive and time-consuming experimental trials currently practiced in industry.

Abstract:
AbstractA single crystal of Ni(II)bis(3,4 dimethoxybenzoate)bis(nicotinamide) dihydrate, formulated as C30H34N4NiO12 (I), was characterized in the solid state by infra-red (IR), ultra-violet (UV) and single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis at 296 K as mononuclear with a distorted octahedral stereochemistry. The complex consists of a six-coordinate Nickel atom in a distorted octahedral environment constructed from two N atoms and four O atoms and crystallizes in the monoclinic space group C 2/c with a=27.7680(16) Å, b=8.5748(3) Å, c=17.8018(9) Å, α=90°, β=108.154(4)°, γ=90°, Z=4. The molecular structure and geometry was also optimized using the B3LYP density functional theory method employing the 6-31G(d) basis set. The molecular electrostatic potential (MEP), frontier molecular orbitals (FMO) analysis, nonlinear optical properties (NLO) and natural bond analysis (NBO), Mulliken population analyis, natural population analysis (NPA) and Fukui function analysis were also described.

Buck, Ryan, Sandra Hyasat, Alice Hossfeld, and Lluvia Flores-Rentería. "Patterns of hybridization and cryptic introgression among one- and four-needled pinyon pines." Annals of Botany 126, no. 3 (March 28, 2020): 401–11. http://dx.doi.org/10.1093/aob/mcaa045.

Full text
Abstract:
Abstract Background and Aims Pinyon pine hybridization is widely acknowledged, but the frequency of and contributors to such interspecific mating remain largely unstudied. Pinus quadrifolia has three to four needles per fascicle, suggesting that it is a result of hybridization between the five-needled P. juarezensis and the single-needled P. monophylla. In this study we address the taxonomic validity of P. juarezensis, the hybrid origin of P. quadrifolia and the presence of hybridization and intermediate morphology as a result of interspecific hybridization in this complex. Methods We address these questions by combining a genomic and morphological approach. We generated 1868 single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) to detect genetic clusters using principal co-ordinates analyis, discriminant analysis of principal components, fastSTRUCTURE and ADMIXTURE analyses, and performed a morphological analysis of the leaves. Key Results We found that the five-needled pinyons did not differ genetically from the four-needled P. quadrifolia, reducing the status of P. juarezensis to P. quadrifolia. We also found no evidence that P. quadrifolia is of hybrid origin from P. juarezensis × P. monophylla but is instead a genetically distinct species with natural needle number variation that has yet to be explained. Hybridization does occur in this complex, but mostly between P. quadrifolia and P. californiarum, and less commonly between P. quadrifolia and P. monophylla. Interestingly, some hybrid derivatives were detected between both single-needled taxa, P. monophylla and P. californiarum, a hybrid combination that has not yet been proposed. Hybrids have intermediate morphology when they have similar genetic contributions from both parental species; however, when one parent contributes more, hybrid derivatives resemble the parent with higher genetic contribution, resulting in cryptic introgression. Conclusions Our detailed sampling across the distribution of this complex allows us to describe the patterns of hybridization among these taxa, resolves an ancient taxonomic conflict and provides insights into the challenges of exclusively using morphological traits when identifying these taxa with cryptic hybridization and variable morphology.

Abstract:
Abstract Background: In Brazil treatment option for mild and moderate bleeding episodes in high responding inhibitors patients is Activated Prothrombin Complex Concentrates (aPCC). rFVIIa is only used as second line therapy in severe bleeds or for elective surgeries. Objectives: To evaluate efficacy, safety and economic impact of rFVIIa as first line treatment for mild and moderate bleeds in high responding inhibitors patients. Methods: Efficacy and safety of rFVIIa were based on a prospective evaluation of 22 mild and moderate bleeds treated between July 2004 and February 2006. Resource utilization was based on retrospective and prospective analysis of 66 bleeding episodes treated in less than 12 hours of beginning of symptoms with rFVIIa and aPCC during the period of August 2002 to February 2006. Clinical outcomes were derived from the analysis of the data obtained from the review of patients’ records and prospective evaluation. Results were validated through a consensus of four Brazilian hematologists and a decision analyis model was constructed to assess total direct health care costs using the software package DATATM 3.5 (TreeAge Software, Willianstown - MA, USA). Results: From July 2004 to February 2006, nine mild (40.9%) and thirteen moderate (59.1%) bleeding episodes were prospectively treated with rFVIIa. All bleedings resolved with 1–4 doses (average 2.05). Haemostasis was maintained in 18/22 bleedings for five days (81.8%). No adverse events were reported. From August 2002 to May 2004 other 44 mild and moderate bleeding episodes were retrospectively reviewed for the economic evaluation, 33 with aPCC and 11 with rFVIIa. Overall, mean time to bleed resolution in hours, mean number of doses and efficacy rate were 56.8, 3.7, 63.6% and 2.7, 1.6 and 100% for aPCC and rFVIIa, respectively. Using the decision analysis model constructed, total direct costs were US$ 12,134 and US$ 7,307 for aPCC and rFVIIa, respectively. When sensitivity analysis was carried out using first-line efficacy rates based on literature data (aPCC: 80% and rFVIIa: 92%)1,2, the total process costs were lower for rFVIIa (US$ 7,850) as compared with aPCC (US$ 10,328) as initial treatment. Conclusion: On the basis of the results of this study it could be concluded that the use of rFVIIa as first-line treatment for mild and moderate bleeds in haemophilia patients with inhibitors in Brazil is not only justified on a clinical basis but also from and economic point of view.

Abstract:
Good accounting information system is information system that can generate accurate, on time and reliable information for management decision making. The use of database to keep the financial transaction and operasional transaction data must be integrated. Integrated database will avoid redundant data and keep the currency of data. Single database in each division will be time consuming, expensive and will cause inconsistency of data. This will be the disadvantage for the company to compete. PT SIG is the company operating in freight forwarding industry. One of the main responsibility is to manage the delivery of package from one place to another place all over the world and to manage all documents related to the shipping. The management of documents in this industry is very complex, therefore the need to handle the documents in the efficient, complete, fast and zero errror is the prime need of the management. The documents distributed in this industry are complex. The shipment of the package can be performed if the whole documents are complete. Unfortunatelly, the company can not manage its documents efficiently and effectively. Documents are manually generated and also manually distributed. Abstract:
Amount of heat transfer is the primary concern in a heat exchanger design. The amount of energy that has been destroyed during the heat exchange process has been investigated by introducing a new dimensionless number. Analyises of simpler systems are often useful to understand more important features of complex pattern forming processes in various field of science and technology. The entropy generation have been studied by use of new dimensionless number . This number defined as the ratio of total energy loss to total heat transfer across the duct length. The temperature dependence on the viscosity is taken into consideration and results have been derived for various L/D ratio, nozzle angles and inlet temperature.

Abstract:
Abstract This paper discusses an approach to structural analysis, design, and optimization that is intended for use by mechanical design engineers who need not be specialists in analysis. The approach uses p-type (high-order polynomial) finite elements combined with a procedural geometry representation that is capable of accurately modeling a wide variety of geometric shapes. Only a few elements are needed to accurately model both the geometry of complex parts and the deformations they undergo. Adaptive analyis can readily be performed, and because of the shape-insensitivity of the elements, general shape design sensitivity and optimization studies are possible. Examples are presented which illustrate these, which have been implemented in the commercial software package Applied Structure.
