Using a teraohmmeter, the resistance indices of synthesized symmetric, asymmetric and complex esters of terminal dicarboxylic acids (TDA) of various structures were determined. The specific resistance and electrical conductivity of the obtained samples were determined. The properties of electrical conductivity are investigated depending on the structure of diesters and complex esters of TDA. Several complex esters were synthesized from phthalic anhydride, neopentyl glycol and rapeseed acid. Their rheological properties, biodegradability and tribological properties were measured. It was found that the complex esters have a wide viscosity range of 126~325mm2/s at 40°C with viscosity indices about 127~143, and solidifying points lower than-38°C. The maximum non seizure load of a complex ester with degree of polymerization 1.42 is as high as 735 N, with a wear scar diameter of 0.41mm, superior to mineral oil. Sodium hydride reductions of aryl methanesulfonates afford dimeric sulfone-sulfonate esters as well as products arising from SO bond rupture. SO bond rupture becomes more competitive as the LUMO energy of the sulfonate ester declines. Exploration of the chemistry of a sulfone-sulfonate ester revealed a complex novel reaction that resulted in the formation of, inter alia, a dichloromethanesulfonate ester and a trichloromethanesulfonate ester. The interactions of tungsten chlorides and oxychlorides with methyl 10-undecenoate, methyl palmitate and methyl acetate, respectively, have been investigated by UV-VIS, IR and EPR spectroscopic methods. The infrared spectra of blends of various ortho-phthalate esters with polyvinyl chloride) and vinylidene chloride/(20%)acrylonitrile copolymer were recorded. The data indicate that the lowering of the ester carbonyl absorption frequency is due to a dipole-dipole/complex type interaction between the carbonyl of the ester and the chlorine of the polymer in addition to hydrogen bonding with acidic hydrogens. The lowering of the absorption frequence increases with an increase in the amount of chlorine in the polymer chain.

Abstract Traditionally, the light industrial/general maintenance paint systems involved a primer along with multiple coats of acrylic finish paint to achieve acceptable corrosion resistance over mild steel substrates. The new Direct-To-Metal (DTM) acrylic paints are formulated to eliminate the primer, and perform as a primer and as a tough finish coat in a single paint, reducing the time and materials needed for complete coverage.
