Abstract:
Abstract Violations of the Doubly-filled COMP filter (DFCs), most notably in the context of embedded questions, can be observed in Germanic, Romance, and even Slavic varieties in the Alpine regions. Using the direct survey technique, we examine DFC-phenomena in several dialects of Southern Bavarian (including language islands) and the adjacent Italian regions (Venetian, Friulian, etc.) in order to check for relevant similarities as well as differences. Whereas there is some indication for a structural parallelism between Germanic and Romance in terms of the wh-items involved, both language groups are set apart when it comes to DFCs in root sentences.

Abstract:
Cerium (IV) oxide (CeO2), which is used as a biomaterial, has wide application in areas such as the biomedical, glass polishing, electronic, automotive, and pharmacology industries. Comparing with the literature, in this study, the genotoxic effects of cerium (IV) oxide microparticles (COMPs) and cerium (IV) oxide nanoparticles (CONPs) were investigated for the first time in human peripheral blood cultures at concentrations of 0.78, 1.56, 3.125, 6.25, 12.5, 25, and 50 ppm for 72 h under in vitro conditions. Particle sizes of COMPs and CONPs were determined using scanning electron microscopic analysis. Micronucleus and chromosome aberration tests were used to determine the genotoxicity of COMPs and CONPs. The average particle sizes of COMPs and CONPs were approximately 148.25 and 25.30 nm, respectively. It was determined that CeO2 particles in both micro and nano sizes were toxic at all concentrations compared to the negative control group (distilled water). Importantly, COMPs and CONPs were genotoxic even at the lowest concentration (0.78 ppm). Comparing particle sizes, the data indicated that COMPs were more toxic than CONPs. The results suggest that genotoxicity of COMPs and CONPs may be a function of applied concentrations and particle sizes.

Abstract:
The curcumin degradation represents a significant limitation for its applications. The stability of free curcumin (FC) and immobilized curcumin in complex particles (ComPs) based on different polysaccharides was studied under the action of several factors. Ultraviolet-visible (UV-VIS) and Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy proved the FC photodegradation and its role as a metal chelator: 82% of FC and between 26% and 39.79% of curcumin within the ComPs degraded after exposure for 28 days to natural light. The degradation half-life (t1/2) decreases for FC when the pH increases, from 6.8 h at pH = 3 to 2.1 h at pH = 9. For curcumin extracted from ComPs, t1/2 was constant (between 10 and 13 h) and depended on the sample’s composition. The total phenol (TPC) and total flavonoids (TFC) content values increased by 16% and 13%, respectively, for FC exposed to ultraviolet light at λ = 365 nm (UVA), whereas no significant change was observed for immobilized curcumin. Antioxidant activity expressed by IC50 (µmoles/mL) for FC exposed to UVA decreased by 29%, but curcumin within ComPs was not affected by the UVA. The bovine serum albumin (BSA) adsorption efficiency on the ComPs surface depends on the pH value and the cross-linking degree. ComPs have a protective role for the immobilized curcumin.

Abstract:
To gather information about comprehensive/qualifying examinations, the authors surveyed the 64 programs that composed the Council of Counseling Psychology Training programs as well as six nonmember training directors A four-page questionnaire was mailed to these program directors, with 53 (76%) questionnaires being returned. Although all programs required some form of comprehensive evaluation for admission to doctoral candidacy, there was considerable variability among programs regarding philosophy, purpose, content, and structure. Of the programs, 58% required both written and oral comps, and 38% required written comps only. No program required oral comps only. Seventy-seven percent reported that the purpose of comps was to assess ability and integrate knowledge. Although most programs assessed knowledge in the areas of psychological foundations, professional issues, counseling theories and practices, assessment and measurement, and research and statistics, few assessed knowledge in cross-cultural issues, vocational psychology, group counseling, or learning and development. Implications of the data and recommendations for future research are discussed.

Dkier, Mohamed. Thesis, Lyon, 2017. http://www.theses.fr/2017LYSEI080/document.

Full text
Abstract:
The main objective of this work has been to develop an experimental investigation making it possible to monitor, as well as achieve a deeper understanding of the structural evolution of high temperature polyamide (PA-HT) as a thermoplastic-based composite matrix. Various formulations of prepolymer with chain extender (CA) were studied at different stoechiometry ratios and temperatures with or without continuous glass fibers. Furthermore, the interest of such a study is twofold: i) optimization of the time required for injection of the reactive system into the mold in which a fibrous reinforcement is predisposed. Thereby, the control of the conversion amount of such thermoplastic system is a critical parameter for a better control of impregnation. ii) a better understanding of structure-property relationships of the obtained thermoplastic composites. Since that the reaction kinetic was demonstrated very fast to be monitored at short times by usual technics at high temperatures above 275°C), the chemo-rheological evolutions were firstly studied ex-situ by coupling rheology with fast FTIR and dielectric spectroscopy (DRS). The ultimate purpose was to correlate the viscosity and the conversion rate in the mold. Then, a rheokinetic modeling approach was performed in order to be able to predict the evolution of the viscosity in particular at very short times (less than 2 minutes which the conversion reaches about 80%). In this work, hybrid process coupling “Reactive Extrusion”and “Resin Transfer Molding” machine (T-ERTM) equipped with an instrumented mold was designed and developed. Secondly, the hybrid process coupling “Reactive Extrusion” and “Resin Transfer Molding” machine (TP-ERTM) with an “instrumented mold” was developed with specific dielectric sensors in order to in-situ track viscosity and the extent of the reaction. The in-situ results corroborate the ex-situ ones aforementioned. Overall, a processing window was obtained for each reactive system to ensure a good preform impregnation for the manufacturing of complex and continuous glass fiber-reinforced parts. Herein, the structure/physical/mechanical/morphological properties of the obtained composites have been established

Gmach, Nomen. "Tatouages berbères : corps voilés, corps dévoilés." Paris 1, 2002. http://www.theses.fr/2002PA010501.

Abstract:

Thesis, Paris 4, 2011. http://www.theses.fr/2011PA040229/document.

Full text
Abstract:
The physician and philosopher Galen of Pergamon (2nd century AC) criticizes athletes, even more strongly than Hippocrates and other intellectuals of the classical period did. But this denunciation is counterbalanced by another point of vue: sport is reappraised in a practical and theoretical way.On the one hand, Galen makes a diagnosis of all disorders that might affect amateur and, most of all, professional athletes. As a consequence, sportsmen involved in competitions are deeply depreciated. Physical activity is considered as producing bad health and, for many other reasons, it is the target of a general condemnation. In particular, the human nature of athletes comes into question. On the other hand, Galen rehabilitates sport as a usefull activity that is beneficial for health and indirectly for the intellect: physical exercise plays a role in the development of the medical argumentation and parallels can be drawn between sport and Galen’s activity both as a physician and as a philosopher

Abstract:
This research, emanating from the field of the Human Sciences in sciences of education, uses the hermeneutic approach in a movement where the biographic process allows the nurse to be seen in the narrative of the interviews, and to observe the nurse, as caregiver in a body-to-body relation with the patients. This thought concerns the paradox of the nurse body in her/his activity inside the places of care including general-purpose reanimation, adult psychiatry and geriatrics. Therefore, this thesis, taking its theoretical roots from the concept of biographisation, will attempt to show how the complexities and the paradoxes of the human body physical presence enable the observation of that which this unspoken by the nurse who becomes a professional caregiver

Guerra, Serres Laura. "Corps malade, corps créateur : fragmenter, rassembler, réparer." Thesis, Paris 1, 2018. http://www.theses.fr/2018PA01H314/document.

Full text
Abstract:
The research in Arts suggests questioning and clarifying the process from the illness experience to creation. How is the creative gesture activated, transformed by the illness? The plastic work associated with the writing tries to verify the following hypothesis: it’s through the process of fragmentation (Heinz Kohut), of gathering (Anne-Sophie Le Poder) and mending (Jeanine Chasseguet-Smirgel) that the body, now a creator, surpasses itself while resuming flesh, turns itself into something different, through its own fear and pain, repaired or reconstructed by their passage. The first part (fragmentation), whith the notion of space, analyses Louise Bourgeois and Yayoï Kusama’s works. Does the fragmentation of the body represent the way the experience of the illness is embodied, incorporated into creation, without illustrating it? The second part explores gathering as a gesture of conciliation with the body. In Mona Hatoum, Chiharu Shiota, or Niki de Saint Phalle’s works, how does this gesture become a blood which welds (Agamben), while making us looking at a hole in time? In the third part (Repair), the reflection goes on with Rebecca Horn and Berlinde de Bruyckere ‘s works, and the choreographic play "Körper" by Sasha Waltz. Questions related to the illness and creative body will be linked to memory and otherness. In the peculiarity of their plasticity, materials become places to rewrite the body in its experience of pain, without representing it
