Full textFollowing the year 1848, white most of his contemporaries were focusing their attentions on the political emergence of nationalities and the renewal of colonial empires, Comte and his closest followers were claiming the reconstruction of the western association and denouncing the idea according to which the West was playing a civilisation rote in its attempt to dominate the whole world. Already in 1820, Comte had been interested by the Western Re-organisation outside the reference to theological or metaphysical conceptions and outside the frame of modern nations. According to him, the constitution of a new spiritual power should be the ground of this re-organisation. Such spiritual power was defined as the foundation of a system of positive education shared across the whole western Republic. ln his sociology, the term "West" which Comte was finding more accurate than the term "Europe", designated an elite group within humanity. In other words, the West was the most advanced part of the human kind on the path to an adult state represented by the scientific and industrial state. Comte's originality has been to think this elite group as a way to establish a universal and free association of men around the world. Highlighting the streams of idea having influenced Comte and underlying the input of his positivist followers, this thesis isolates the singularity of the historical transition at stake in the West. This work focuses on the proposals of Comte's positive politics aiming at both preventing western superiority to become a force of uniforming oppression and stimulating its use as a force for a worldwide solidarity and a progress without revolution

An other part of this study is about the recueil d'antiquites, with first his whole organisation, secondly the methods of archeological investigations which are developed, and at last the meaning and the importance of the illustrations. So in the last chapter, are exposed his way history conceptions' and its finality, and the relations he developed between the study of antiquities and the modern art

Abstract : This thesis is built under an anarchist point of view and aim to develop a political analysis of three fundamental works from the officious and positivists creators of the fields of Linguistics and Sociology. These works are: Reorganizar a Sociedade, "fundamental booklet" written by Auguste Comte; La División del Trabajo Social, doctorate thesis by Émile Durkheim and the Curso de Linguística Geral that is a posthumous and relatively apocryphal work, under the name of Ferdinand de Saussure. Thus, this thesis is a study methodologically simple and bibliographical. This study aims to extract and to show ethical and political consequences of the scientific works developed by this positivist trinity that, as we shall see, points to a suffocant and proto-fascist world of control, hierarchy and domination. That means it is against anarchy, with all the possible ambiguities this word may contain. Under the perspective that the parts and the whole are qualitative distinct, to un-veil all the moral and ethical horror presented since the beginning of Linguistics and Sociology is also to metonymically un-cover this same horror in the totality of the science-institution. We will assert that this science-institution is the new theology of our times, composed by its clergy of scientists and academics. Thus this thesis presents itself as a form of renewed anticlericalism. The concern and the justification of the present text are not engaged in the reform of this institution, but in its end.

Full textAfter the damages caused by the one hundred years war and the fightings between armagnacs and burgundies, picardy, and particularly the western part of the somme department which corresponds to the boundaries of the former county of ponthieu, was the ground for the building of new churches which had common characteristics. Although of the same artistic trend than in all of france, the flamboyant art of the former county of ponthieu represents an original entity endeavouring to make a synthesis between the gothic tradition of the north and the new solutions which came from italy; two importants constructions, saint-vulfran of abbeville and the abbey of saint-riquier, have probably served as models for the reconstruction or modernization of smaller churches in the architectural field as well as for the monumental decoration

Full textThis dissertation seeks to address the concept of morality to the author Isidore Auguste Marie François Xavier Comte (born in 01.19.1798, Montpellier - died on 05/09/1857, Paris), also known for being the founder of positivism. Comte proposed one hierarchical classification to the positives sciences. In addition, from the System of positive polity, or Treatise on sociology: Instituting the religion of humanity, Volume II, Chapter 1, written from 12/1850 to 01/1851, the sciences become seven: mathematics, astronomy, physics, chemistry, biology, sociology, and moral. The Moral then becomes the seventh core constituent phenomena of reality (the human phenomena) which the specific method is the subjective or constructive method (succeeding the historic method, sociologys specific). The morality becomes the science`s and method supreme and final in the positive philosophy system. Considering all the work of Comte, but focusing on The course of positive philosophy, which exposes the nature of the concept of positive and the proposed hierarchy of sciences; in the Discourse preliminary on the nature of positivism, which presents the religion of humanity; in the System of positive polity, or Treatise on sociology: Instituting the religion of humanity where the moral is explicitly presented to the proposed of treaty for the moral to The subjective synthesis, citing the contents related to the 7 chapters; and finally in the Table of eighteen functions of the brain or soul that underlies the possibility of passing from selfishness to the altruism. To develop this work we initially expose in which context the moral establishes in the thought of Comte assuming that morality has always been present in Comtes life/thought and work. Then we present the positioning of moral as the seventh positive science, which deals with human phenomena, and the ideas of Comte presented in Table of eighteen functions of the brain or soul. Finally, we present some features of this moral while positive moral.

Full textThe Count of Artois (1757-1836), Louis XV’s great son and Louis XVI’s brother, is frivolous, libertine and is not interested in the intellectual world. He buys the Marquis of Paulmy’s library, one of the most important collections in this time which competes with the other most beautiful libraries in this time. Artois’s library didn’t interest searchers before because the count isn’t a very attractive character and because of the lack of document on the subject. To overcome this lack of documentation, the bookbinding is used as a real historical document and is inventoried as the databases methodology. It helps to reconstruct a characteristic typology of décor which reflects a collection and to find his books between lots of copies of the same edition. This methodology concerns historians who search information on people in a time or on a period, but also literary who study texts and their stories. The Count of Artois’s typology of décor, which is found also on other everyday life objects, reflects actually the one used for the royal family and symbolizes the expression of the royal power. Other libraries’possessors are creating typologies of décor to sign their collection and when they use the royal collection’s one, it expresses their affiliation to a certain social status and the acknowledgment of it
