The lily is considered one of the highest value cutting flowers as well as is popular to the majority. Bulbs are often imported from the Netherland with an expensive price. Thus, it is difficult to sell commercial lily flowers in the domestic market and international trade. Anthracnose symptoms were observed on soybean (Glycine max (L.) Merr.) cv. Yale in Illinois in September 1996. Lower stems were girdled by lesions that contained black fungal stroma. Colletotrichum coccodes (Wallr.) S. J. Hughes was isolated from surface-sterilized portions of diseased stems incubated on potato dextrose agar (PDA). Lolium multiflorum, spring wheat cv. Adonis, carrots and spinach were grown in the field and in a dust-free growth chamber in pots containing soil labelled with 109Cd and 210Pb. The contribution of atmospheric Cd and Pb deposition to plant concn was examined by isotope dilution. Atmospheric deposition contributed 73-95% to the Pb concn of leafy material of L. multiflorum, carrots, spinach, wheat grain and wheat straw.
