The rheology of oil-in-water (O/W) emulsions thickened by starch nanoparticles is investigated here. The starch nanoparticle concentration is varied from 0 to 25 wt% based on the matrix aqueous phase. The oil concentration is varied from 0 to 65 wt%. At a given nanoparticle concentration, the emulsions are generally Newtonian at low oil concentrations. The emulsions become shear-thinning at high oil concentrations. The increase in nanoparticle concentration at a given oil concentration increases the consistency of the emulsion and enhances the shear-thinning behavior of emulsion. The rheologic

However, a critical challenge in their development is ensuring size stability, as particle size directly influences biodistribution, cellular uptake, and drug release profiles. This study establishes a streamlined methodology to assess nanoparticle size consistency by comparing three widely used characterization techniques: Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS), Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM), and Nanoparticle Tracking Analysis (NTA). Two types of nanoparticles were analyzed: 100

Abstract:
The need to improve energy efficiency of the building stock has led to a continuous increase in the implementation of exterior thermal insulation systems, such as ETICS. Progressively, these systems are being applied with darker colours, increasing the concern for hygrothermal behaviour and durability. Despite the significant developed studies, very few reports regarding their optical properties are available. The optical and catalytic capacity turns nanomaterials into excellent candidates for use in finishing coatings with high solar reflectance with dark colours without affecting the aesthet

Abstract:
The overall goal of this project was to elucidate the role of dissolved organic matter (DOM) in soil retention, bioavailability and plant uptake of silver and cerium oxide NPs. The environmental risks of manufactured nanoparticles (NPs) are attracting increasing attention from both industrial and scientific communities. These NPs have shown to be taken-up, translocated and bio- accumulated in plant edible parts. However, very little is known about the behavior of NPs in soil-plant system as affected by dissolved organic matter (DOM). Thus DOM effect on NPs behavior is critical to assessing the

Original objectives The general goal of the project was to utilize the bactericidal potential of curcumin- functionalizednanostructures (CFN) for reinforcement of food safety by developing active antimicrobial food-contact surfaces. In order to reach the goal, the following secondary tasks were pursued: (a) further enhancement of the CFN activity based on understanding their mode of action; (b) preparing efficient antimicrobial surfaces, investigating and optimizing their performance; (c) testing the efficacy of the antimicrobial surfaces in real food trials. Abstract:
Ambient nitrogen oxide (NOX) is one of the main ingredients involved in the formation of ground-level ozone (smog), which contributes to global warming and the formation of particulates in the atmosphere and causes respiratory illnesses, especially in children, older adults, and people with lung diseases. Investigations on adding titanium dioxide (TiO2) nanoparticles to the paint used on concrete surfaces such as buildings and its potential in reducing ambient NOX concentration have provided opportunities for the research and development of methods for passive control and filtration of the amb
