Abstract The Stochastic Novikov engine is an endoreversible model for heat engines where the heat supply takes place at a fluctuating temperature. These fluctuations can be observed for example at solar thermal power plants. While recently the influence of the temperature fluctuations on the engine’s performance has been studied for Newtonian heat transport, the relation between the used heat transport type and the performance measures remained open. Therefore, we here consider a Stochastic Novikov engine with Fourier heat transport. Based on a short summary of the concept of a Stochastic Novi

The main purpose of this paper is to give a new proof of the Balian-Low theorem for Gabor system{eimθ(2πt)g(t−n), m,n∈ℤ}, which is proposed by Fu et al. and associated with nonlinear Fourier atoms. To this end, we establish the relationships between spacesL2(ℝ,dθ)andL2(ℝ). We also introduce the concept of frame associated with nonlinear Fourier atoms forL2(ℝ,dθ)and obtain many subsidiary results for this kind of (Gabor) frames.

Cryptography is the art of keepingmessage secret by different methods. In this paper,a new algorithm has been proposed for symmetrickey polyalphabetic data encryption, namelyFourier Masking Encryption Algorithm (FMEA).The concept of Fourier series is exploitedefficiently to generate the random key sequencefrom a given password, as randomness is the keyproperty of polyalphabetic encryption. It has beenshown that the proposed algorithm can providehigh level cryptanalytic complexity for anyunauthorized attempt to decryption. Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) imaging allows simultaneous spectral characterization of large spatial areas due to its multichannel detection advantage. The acquisition of large amounts of data in the multichannel configuration results, however, in a poor temporal resolution of sequentially acquired data sets, which limits the examination of dynamic processes to processes that have characteristic time scales of the order of minutes. Here, we introduce the concept and instrumental details of a time-resolved infrared spectroscopic imaging modality that permits the examination of repetitive d

The wave concept iterative procedure (WCIP) is proposed to analyze rectangular and circular patch antennas on nanostructured ceramic substrates. Principles of WCIP are described and advantages are emphasized. The analysis of microstrip antennas on double layered substrates is performed in space and spectral domains. In addition, Fast Fourier Transformation (FFT) is used to improve the efficiency of the method. WCIP simulated results are compared to HFSS software ones. A good agreement is observed.

Abstract The natural architectures are architectures, derived from the signal graph of the corresponding algorithm. That is why they are considered to be the most appropriate architectures for parallel realization of this algorithm. For Fast Fourier Transform algorithm (FFT) two types of natural architectures are known – the direct and the indirect hypercube. The direct hypercube has been investigated and analyzed a long time ago. The development of the concept of Indirect Hypercube, although quite old, is too difficult, controversal and still unfinished. Abstract: The engineering schools usually target problem-solving skills in students instead of conceptual development, which is an essential skill for transformation from novice to professional engineer as per the program objective. Improving a student's conceptual knowledge can help students understand a problem better and develop a better solution. Conceptual understanding also assists students in identifying gaps in their problem-solving techniques. This paper attempts to administer a Signal and System Concept Inventory (SSCI) to test the conceptual knowledge of core concepts of signals and

A local Fourier transform of a wave field is an integral transformation from space‐time coordinate space to phase space, i.e., ray parameter, spatial coordinate, and intercept‐ time space. McMechan (1983) introduced the concept of a local slant‐stack/Fourier transform. Using this integral transform, he was able to define a wave field in phase space. By projecting the resulting wave field to the spatial coordinate space, he obtained a representation of the wave field in the ray‐parameter and the spatial‐coordinate plane. In this paper, the local Fourier method is used to transform the Helmholtz

We study temperate distributions and measures with discrete support in Euclidean space and their Fourier transformswith special attention to almost periodic distributions. In particular, we prove that if distances between points of the support of a measure do not quickly approach 0 at infinity, then this measure is a Fourier quasicrystal (Theorem 1).
We also introduce a new class of almost periodicity of distributions, close to the previous one, and study its properties.Actually, we introduce the concept of s-almost periodicity of temperate distributions. We establish the conditions for a
