Abstract:
The concept of career burnout has been investigated in a wide variety of human services settings. Several investigations have extended the study of burnout to individuals in private sector organizations although burnout factors have only been derived on one sample of private sector employees. In the current research, burnout factors from previous private sector research were replicated. Results showed a strong congruency between factors from the two studies. Support was provided for rewording burnout questions from the human services scales for private sector research.

The expansion of the scope of the concept of burnout, which is actively studied not only in a occupational context, but also as a social and personal phenomenon, requires the development of an integral approach and a concept that would take into account various options for its manifestation in the context of role behavior. The concept of role burnout is proposed as an integral one. Role burnout is the final state of the process of loss of energy resources, when a strong emotional engagement in the performance of a certain role (roles) leads to an excess of the optimal level of use by a person
