Full textSoftware Production is an activity which needs the application of disciplined process Preliminar Design is the phase of this process in which systems are decomposed into modules, and their topol~gy is produced. The application of Sof tware Engineering principles during this. Phase such as modularity, encapsulation, and reusability become a necessity to control the development of large software systems and improve their quality and reliability. For this purpose, it was interesti_ng to develop a supporting tool for a preliminary design method : Object Oriented Design introduced by Grady Booch. This method is based upon the concept of Object and support the previous principles. ECOO is a tool which provides assistance in : - guiding designer along steps of OOD - document acquisition, archiving and retrieval abject and operation identification by morphosyntaxic analysis - grouping abjects and operations which act upon them, into modules - editing the formal interfaces of the modules - consulting a bank of reusable abjects for retrieval and integration of objects

Full textSoftware development for embedded systems has many challenges. Ln this thesis, we address those related to the interactions between the three following phases of the software development process: the design phase, the implementation phase and the validation phase. We study the design language characteristics and compilation techniques. Ln our approach, they allow the creation of both an implementation of the system and a model for this implementation. Provided that this model faithfully corresponds to the implementation, the analysis of the model can validate the implemented system. We propose a process for building a language based on software components for which the dynamic behavior is supposed to be given. We illustrate this process with a prototype called Buzz. Buzz uses Think components enriched with their operation al behavioral model in BIP. We developed a compiler for Buzz by extending the current Think compiler. Il generates both an architecture of Think components for the implementation and a BIP model for the analysis. We evaluate Buzz through two experiments. The first ex periment details the software development for an academical example on which we show the soundness of our technical choices. Think provides implementation support (compilation, optimization, deployment) and BIP allows us to verify the system's dynamic properties. The second ex periment focuses on porting to Buzz an application convention ail y developed for a sensor network radio protocol. It underlines the efficiency of our proposaI both in terms of programming language (the result is more structured and simpler than the original code) and in terms of compilation tools and verifications

Full textMany studies undertaken in the field of education have revealed that m-learning is emerging more and more as an effective learning method with the use of smartphones. Always turned on and easily transported, smartphones can be used anywhere, at any given time and in any context. Considering this potential of smartphones in our current society, in this thesis we present an m-learning model designed as a learning support tool in computer science and software engineering. To achieve this goal, we first show the existing efforts to integrate smartphones into programming tools. Following the same idea, we show examples of using mobile applications for programming. We then demonstrate that smartphones have limitations that make the programming exercise ineffective. Given these limitations, we show that, especially for programming courses, m-learning plays its role fully when it provides access to useful information on an ongoing basis to support the learning process. Thus, we come up with the design of m-learning as a learning support tool in computer science and software engineering. In this sense, m-learning provides an environment to receive updates on the planned work, notifications, comments, task schedules, new tasks to be performed, etc. Then, after having studied different architectural styles and different types of applications, we present possibilities of implementation of this m-learning model. We identify the hybrid architecture as the ideal architecture for designing and developing m-learning tools. We show how this hybrid architecture works by using the Apache Cordova Framework to produce m-learning tools that are both customizable and portable.

Full textThe relevancy of the Model Based Approach (MBE) applied in the field of software engineering has been widely demonstrated though several experiments. In the field of co-design, business activities are mainleny design and analysis activities of complex systems implemented into chips (SoC - System-on-Chip) or reprogrammable chip (SoPC) - System-on-Programmable-Chip). Those activities require dedicated languages and tools allowing capture of : system or platform components, non-functional properties, allocation of system blocks onto the platform, either into space or into time, subsequent analysis to allocation choices. The Unified Modeling Language (UML) is a general purpose language that does not fit to such activities. That is why the OMG has standardized a UML profile dedictated to design and analysis of Real-Time Embedded Systems (MARTE). Associated to such language, on of the goal of this thesis is to propose a clear methodology that make benefits of both MBE and Electronic System Level (ESL) techniques. Beneath the simple proposition of an MBE/ESL methodology, another goal of this thesis is to propose a better capitalization of methodology rules allowing a continuous maturity of processes. That is why we found relevant to propose an extension to SPEM in order to introduce missing concepts to acheive our goals

Full textDeep neural networks (DNNs) and particularly convolutional neural networks (CNNs) trained on large datasets are getting great success across a plethora of paramount applications. It has been providing powerful solutions and revolutionizing medicine, particularly, in the medical image analysis field. However, deep learning field comes up with multiple challenges: (1) training Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) is a computationally intensive and time-consuming task (2) introducing parallelism to CNNs in practice as it is a tedious, repetitive and error-prone process and (3) there is currently no broad study of the generalizability and the reproducibility of the CNN parallelism techniques on concrete medical imaging segmentation applications.Within this context, the present PhD thesis aims to tackle the aforementioned challenges. To achieve this goal, we conceived, implemented and validated an all-in-one scalable and component-based deep learning parallelism platform for medical imaging segmentation. First, we introduce R2D2, an end-to-end scalable deep learning toolkit for medical imaging segmentation. R2D2 proposes a set of new distributed versions of widely-used deep learning architectures (FCN and U-Net) in order to speed up building new distributive deep learning models and reduce the gap between researchers and talent-intensive deep learning. Next, this thesis also introduces Auto-CNNp, a component-based software framework to automate CNN parallelism throughout encapsulating and hiding typical CNNs parallelization routine tasks within a backbone structure while being extensible for user-specific customization. The evaluation results of our proposed automated component-based approach are promising. It shows that a significant speedup in the CNN parallelization task has been achieved to the detriment of a negligible framework execution time, compared to the manual parallelization strategy. The previously introduced couple of software solutions (R2D2 and Auto-CNNp) at our disposal led us to conduct a thorough and practical analysis of the generalizability of the CNN parallelism techniques to the imaging segmentation applications. Concurrently, we perform an in-depth literature review aiming to identify the sources of variability and study reproducibility issues of deep learning training process for particular CNNs training configurations applied for medical imaging segmentation. We also draw a set of good practices recommendations aiming to alleviate the aforementioned reproducibility issues for medical imaging segmentation DNNs training process. Finally, we make a number of observations based on a broad analysis of the results of the already conducted CNN parallelism experimental study which led us to propose a guideline and recommendations for scaling up CNNs for segmentation applications. We succeeded to eliminate the accuracy loss with scale for the U-Net CNN architecture and alleviate the accuracy degradation for the FCN CNN architecture

Full textThis research is concerned with synthesized images and visual realism as knowledge generation tools for CAAD (Computer Aided Architectural Design). The research goal is to document and validate contained visual realism in synthesized images to the architectural project elaboration process. The validated hypothesis is a « correlation » of irradiance and radiance values with the degree of visuel realism of synthesized images. As a practical outcome, this work proposes an evaluation methodology of visual realism based on irradiance and radiance values estimation with Radiance System. This protocol defines the programs and parameters to be used and their sequence to generate synthetic images. Furthermore, the protocol includes a files transfer procedure from formZ to Radiance System.

Full textThe aim of Computer Aided Design in mechanics is to design products with a maximum constraints integrated in the design process. The main aim is to predict as closest as possible the mechanism behavior in order to optimize its design. Numerical modeling provides results in several fields (static's, dynamics, thermal behavior…), in this work, we have considered the thermal behavior of a system at its preliminary design step. The actual trends of saving weight in order to increase efficiency reduce the heat dissipation capacity and consequently create a rise of the mean operating temperatures which must be integrated in the design process. The application in this work deals with the thermal behavior prediction of power gearing transmissions. The originality of this work comes from the simultaneous application of global and local approaches. First, a bibliographical study has been done in order to set down the bases of the work, and to make a census of the different existing approaches and modeling studies of the thermal problem in power gearing transmissions. Then, a methodology of thermal behavior modeling of a generic power gearing transmission has been developed. A global thermal model has been achieved using the thermal network method; it is composed of local models defined for each technological class of elements. Experiments on industrial test bench were carried out in order to validate the numerical approach. Finally, the established procedures were applied in order to provide thermal behavior prediction in several cases for mechanical design
