Abstract:

Abstract:
Abstract This article discusses the “heart” as part of the terminology for selfhood in ancient Jewish literature. After discussing a couple of criticisms of studies of the self and showing how these criticisms fail to persuade, the paper examines a range of texts in the Hebrew Bible, the Dead Sea Scrolls, and beyond for conceptions of the moral self. Special attention is given to the legal S tradition in the Scrolls as a fruitful illustration of how the self and law are recurring conceptual companions. In this legal tradition, a universalizing conception of selfhood and agency is rooted in local, practical concerns of a community.

Abstract:
The article is devoted to the correlation of theory and conception as structural units of jurisprudence. It examines the commonalities and distinctions between these phenomena, outlining the boundaries of their respective concepts. It is demonstrated that theory and conception represent different elements of legal science, and their conflation is inappropriate. While their content may overlap in many cases, they possess distinct natures, structures, and purposes. The criteria for distinguishing these phenomena are proposed to include dialogicity, hypotheticality, and sociocultural context – characteristics typical of conceptions but not of theories. Conversely, the advantages of theory include clarity, reliability, and recognition, which are not always inherent to concepts. The article presents various scholarly perspectives on the relationship between theory and conception, ranging from conflation to complete differentiation. Sometimes, a conception is characterized as a type of theory or as a structural part of it. The article questions whether it is objectively possible to find a unified formula for the interaction of theory and conception, given the diversity of these phenomena in jurisprudence and science in general. A conception may constitute pre-theoretical knowledge, elucidate the content of a theory, or explain it, among other roles. It is argued that legal theory exists within the system of legal doctrine while a legal conception initially exists outside of it. Upon gaining recognition, a legal conception integrates into legal doctrine and may transform into legal theory. For a single legal phenomenon, there may exist one recognized theory, a corresponding recognized concept, and several unrecognized or less-recognized concepts. It is also possible for several competing legal concepts to coexist without a unified theory, which may still be in the formation process. It is revealed that, in most cases, the creation of a conception (an abstract idea by an author) precedes the formation of a theory (the crystallization of processed knowledge). Less frequently, conceptions and theories are created simultaneously, or a theory is developed before its corresponding concept. The latter occurs through intuitive methodology and later requires explanations provided by the conception. A theory does not imply the disputability of its provisions, whereas a conception allows and supports such dialogue. For a concept, this dialogue represents an opportunity for development, societal adaptation, and scientific-practical recognition.

Abstract:
The formation of directions for Ukraine’s exit from the «trap of backwardness» in the post-war period requires a logical and well-grounded conception built on the principles of modern science. In modern research, much attention is paid to the development of methodological support for the development of conceptions and conceptional provisions as a basis for the development of the country. However, there is currently no single scientifically grounded conception for Ukraine’s exit from the «trap of backwardness» after the war. The aim of the article is to substantiate the draft conception of Ukraine’s exit from the «trap of backwardness» in the post-war period. The main postulates of classical and neoclassical theories and conceptions that examine the problems of backwardness of countries by directions and dynamics of socioeconomic development, as well as individual authors’ models that describe various modifications of the «traps of backwardness» are generalized. The basic postulates of modern European research on the problems of recovery of the socioeconomic development after crises are defined. On this basis, a theoretical platform for the draft conception of Ukraine’s exit from the «trap of backwardness» is proposed. The effectiveness of the use of cognitive models to address the needs of the theory and practice of Ukraine’s post-war exit from the «trap of backwardness» is shown. The draft conception of Ukraine’s exit from the «trap of backwardness» in the post-war period is substantiated, containing a number of hypotheses and provisions, which together solve an important scientific and practical task of creating a mechanism and conditions for overcoming and destroying the trap of backwardness in Ukraine, as well as excluding the causes and possibilities of its reproduction in the post-war and long-term periods. Theoretical and practical problems that can be solved on the basis of the implementation of the draft conception of Ukraine’s exit from the «trap of backwardness» presented in the article are structured.

Abstract:
The article makes an attempt to distinguish between the concepts of scientific theory and scientific conception as functional components of scientific discourse. Both forms of scientific knowledge are interpreted as integral systems of scientific information based on logically reasoned or empirically proven data of rational nature. The fundamental difference between theory and conception is their functional and pragmatic orientation. The theory is understood as logically systematized scientific information of a substantive nature, and the conception is understood as methodologically organized scientific information of a philosophic and subjective character. The author suggests considering the conception as a hierarchically higher and more significant discursive level of organization of scientific knowledge, since the internal integrity and external compatibility of scientific theories completely depends on their discursive consistency within a single conception. The formation of the conception has expressive discursive character, since the conceptions arise in the scientific and philosophic interaction of views. In turn, the author considers the methodology and methodological bases, that make it consistent, to be the core of each scientific conception. The assessment of any linguistic theory should be based on clarifying the methodological essence of scientific conception within which this theory was created.

Abstract:
The neonatal period is critical in the development of the microbiome and the gastrointestinal tract. That is, the microbiome regulates not only the processes that are associated with the basic functions of the gastrointestinal tract, but is associated with the content of vitamins and micronutrients, affects the development of the nervous and endocrine systems of newborns. Fortunately, microbiome and immunity of pregnant get ready the infant for his inevitable complications. Although preterm birth has been connected with bacterial colonization of the amniotic cavity for many years, the dogma of a sterile intrauterine environment during a normal pregnancy has appeared only recently. Numerous placental microbiome and the occurrence of microorganisms in the amniotic cavity in normal pregnancy was demonstrated by metagenomic sequencing. The occurrence of microorganisms in intestine got from the operating room during resection of intestinal abnormalities immediately after birth and before feeding was also found in neonates born by caesarean section. In this literature review, we explore the update understanding of microbial colonization of the intestine and foundation of function of the gastrointestinal tract. We discuss how mother’s genital and extragenital pathologies, her diet, lifestyle, taking drugs during pregnancy form the microbiome of the fetus and its further development in the neonatal period. Also, equally important for the establishment of the neonatal microbiome are gestational age, mode of delivery, type of feeding and medication, including antibiotics. Therefore, in our opinion, the comparison of microbiota of a full-term newborn in vaginal birth and an infant born prematurely or by cesarean section is clinically significant for physicians in various fields. The study of changes in the microbial composition of the intestine is an important step in the diagnosis of pathological conditions in this period.

Abstract:
The article describes three metaphorically designated educational conceptions: the antique notion of the educator as a sculptor, the new age notion of the educator as a gardener, and our era’s emerging educator as a guide. All conceptions of education provide a specific answer to the problem of education, which consists of the fact that a human being is defined to be undefined, therefore the formation of a person depends on the educator. The educator as a sculptor addresses this problem by forcing a preconceived conception of reason on learners. The educator as a gardener accepts every learner and educates him or her by dealing with their individual capacities. The educator as a guide combines the educational method of the sculptor and the gardener: as a sculptor has a vision of the educational process, and as a gardener attempts that every learner walks this path himself or herself. The educational conception of the educator as a sculptor is socialist and the conception of the educator as a gardener is liberal. The educator as a guide corresponds to the emerging new conception of politics in our time, which has a task of reconciling socialism and liberalism.

Jedrkiewicz-Owczarek, Floriane. "La formation hybride : entre conception et usage." Thesis, Paris 1, 2022. http://www.theses.fr/2022PA01E012.

Full text
Abstract:
The concept of hybrid training, combining activities in presence and distance, most often supported by a digital platform, before 2020 was a niche solution, little recognized. It was forcibly democratized with the covid-19 pandemic, even forcing the emergence of a new form of hybridization where the two modalities merge. The first definition of hybrid training appeared in 1995, written by Didier Valdès in his thesis for Paris 2 Panthéon Assas. He pointed out a certain number of criteria essential to the design of such training. However, the historiography concerning the study of these, from a erspective of definition, evaluation and design, was quickly turned upside down by the emergence of web 2.0. The design criteria adopted became more and more numerous and technical, the authors interviewing only a part of the actors (teachers or students), without a global vision and without taking into account their real activity. This approach, not integrating the activity of their operators, leads to complex hybrid training courses to be followed both for students and teachers, who may even be resistant to Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs). ) employees, or even to training in general. We are therefore looking to observe a hybrid training taking into account the activity of the operators, in order to deduce design tracks more in line with it. We employ an ethnocentric methodology, based on the theoretical framework of the activity, with an associated method - in particular the notions of prescribed and real. We thus seek to go beyond the usual dichotomies with machine / without machine, and presence / distance. We refer particularly to the activity theory developed by Yrjö Engeström, and to the instrumental theory of Pierre Rabardel. We observe a hybrid module of initiation to information and Pix certification within a university course More specifically, we have retained for the analysis a chapter of the course comprising a 1h30 face-to-face session and work to be done remotely. All the data available over this observation period is used, i.e. a heterogeneous set including open observations in class, video recordings, interviews carried out with users and designers, questionnaire for students, collection of emails from the teacher, data generated through the IT platform, and presence on student workspaces and exchanges such as Facebook and Google Drive. These data are combined in quantitative and qualitative ways, and analyzed through the production of detailed chronologies, Engeström contradiction tables, and a revised version of Gaëtan Bourmaud's Method of Failures and Substitutions of Resources (MDSR). We highlight a clear gap between prescribed and actual training (that is to say between training designed and in situ), resulting from a design in use carried out by the actors - teachers and students. This implies paradigm shifts, particularly with regard to student autonomy, the objective of the training which disrupts the position of the teacher. This conception in use is the result of a collective work of the operators (teacher and students), practically leading to a redesign of the training according to the needs actually felt. The design of a hybrid training in accordance with this activity would thus suppose to use the distance for what it is, in order to facilitate the creation of a community of university learning

Lourdeaux, Domitile. "Réalité virtuelle et formation : conception d'environnements virtuels pédagogiques." Phd thesis, École Nationale Supérieure des Mines de Paris, 2001. http://tel.archives-ouvertes.fr/tel-00006475.

Abstract:

Abstract:
This exploratory study deals with the issue of the nature of intelligence from a new stand point and proposes a theory based on the use of symbols. French speaking school children from france and west africa experienced auditive and visual stimuli (verbal and schematic statements) of the physical world i. E the world of objects and the psychological world. The study explores the social, cultural and economical determinants of the graphic symbolisation of people namely the ability to understand, to conceive and to rebuilt statements, sequences, in short, forms which use semantic and cognitive structures. Having put forward an applied definition of thinking, the author endeavours to bring out the actual differences between the nature of language (semiotic) and that of thinking (symbolic), between form of content and form of expression, setting them in a cognitive space where "signifier" and "signified" concur. Two separate analyses made it possible to study first, the inter-relationships between the forms of content and expression, then the relationship between these forms and and the variables of the environment. The make up of thinking, the characteristics of which are the symbolic structuring factor, the subjective factor and the theoretical factor, was carried out within a theoretical framework open to techniques of linear regression analysis. The main issue of the relations existing between expression and content, between morphogenesis and structure may find certain elements of solution in this study

Abstract:

Castel, Philippe. "La semio-socio-psychologie : conception tridimensionnelle du sujet humain." Paris 7, 1991. http://www.theses.fr/1991PA070105.

Full text
Abstract:
The work submitted here concerns the socially integrated man, as a matter for social psychology. From this point of view, speech as been chosen as the strategic place of investigation. Regarded as linguistic social behaviour, it refers three determinations : one psychological, as indicated by its behavioural nature, another sociological, as shown by its contextualized character and a final one, semiological, as underlined by its linguistic material. The thesis consists mainly in the elaboration of a model of the subject pushing to the extreme this constitutive three dimensionalization of the speaker. The analysis of the most common concepts in social psychology provides the three basic notions that enable the framework of this model to be built. Work carried out on attitude puts action in the foreground ; studies on representations are centred round possession ; finally, research carried out on the identity approaches it as a specific state. The generalization of these methods of apprehension enables us to understand the nature of the three basic dimensions, i. E. To do, to have and to be. The systemization of these dimensions leads us to distinguish faculties, ressources and entities. The latter, i. E. The actor, the person and the individual, have the characteristics of being homogeneous in their composition and autonomous in their working. These properties are the object of a crucial experiment showing the exclusivity of the practices according to the entities in question. Finally, the heuristic quality of the model is tested through its use. .

Full text
Abstract:
The synthesis and the use of porous chiral coordination polymers for enantioselective processes are of current interest and prime importance in chemistry. These crystalline materials are mainly obtained by combinations of well-designed organic tectons and properly chosen metallic components. This thesis deals with the synthesis of organic chiral building blocks and their combinations with a variety of metallic salts leading to chiral coordination networks. In a first part, the use of tectons bearing neutral coordinating sites is described. Homochiral cuboid architectures displaying monodimensional channels are presented. In the second part, mono- and bi-dimensional networks of various geometries are described. In some cases, within crystals, interactions lower in energy than the coordination bond are observed and are responsible for the formation of molecular networks of higher dimensionality. Finally, the use of organic tectons displaying charged interaction sites is presented. Their combination with metallatectons under thermal treatments affords robust tridimensional homochiralarchitectures displaying cavities. These materials are interesting candidates for enantioselective recognition and separation. Their gas adsorption propensity (N2 and CO2) is briefly discussed

Abstract:

The first based on an essential pedagogy, would correspond to the initial learning and would aim at transmitting a technical and theoretical knowledge allowing the future engineer to be integrated in the professional environment. The second phase would be marked by the appropration of a professional knowled ge which would be acquired through various incidental experiences linked with the relational and political field of the enterprise frequented. In this view, the in-service training of executives could be conceived from an adultagogy of the existence. For this research, the methodology applied to the life accounts of the engineers encountered allowed us to perceive the nature of the learning that the latter had accomplished throughout their initial training and their professional history. This auto-biographical procedure has contributed to describe and identify the main stages which characterize the professional development of engineers

Abstract:
This essay focuses on a review of Johann G. Fichte’s The Destination of Man, published by Friedrich D.E. Schleiermacher in the journal Athenæum in 1800. The author places the book within the context of the debates on the critical function of reviewing that took place between the Schlegel brothers and the Enlightenment writers of the Allgemeine Literatur-Zeitung. Schleiermacher’s Notiz can indeed be seen as a genuine attempt at a mise en abîme: a review of the value of reviewing. Distancing himself from Fichte’s rationalistic approach, and in line with Heinrich Jacobi’s philosophy of religion, Schleiermacher rejects the universal concept of destination in favour of a morality based on the principle of existence (as openness and contact with the infinite). However, unlike the Schlegel brothers, he does not settle for a solipsistic and aestheticizing conception of man. Instead, he presents a theory that focuses on the progressive social formation of the original essence of the individual. The critical act of reviewing is a means of establishing formative relationships (bildende Beziehungen) with others.

Abstract:
Drawing on the author’s experience of working with Les Ateliers UPIC between the presentation of the UPIC computer music system at the Huddersfield Festival of Contemporary Music in 1987, and its residency at the International Computer Music Conference (ICMC) 1990, this paper will reflect on the technological, educational, social, and organizational milieu of UPIC during the period of its formation as both a material equipment, and a cultural project. As well as interrogating historical anecdote, this chapter attempts to contextualize UPIC within a set of cues taken from recent work in science and technology studies–particularly the work of Antoine Hennion–as well as from Howard Becker’s classic sociological investigation of ‘art worlds’, in order to clarify both the historical impact and the possible future potential of Xenakis’s conception. Beginning in an era when institutional infrastructure was a necessity for any project of this kind, UPIC has morphed, in the subsequent era of internet sociality, into an app with a contrasting set of technical and operational consistencies. This contrast will be considered as a key means of insight into the creative conceptions that underpin UPIC as part of an attempt to reassess the position of the system within Xenakis’s main theoretical achievement and creative output.

Abstract:
This chapter analyzes how the Young Turk Revolution of 1908 had provided a different conception of what politics should mean and how it should operate in the Ottoman Empire, along with a new conception of state and society. Drawing on the political language of the French Third Republic, democracy and liberal republican ideas slowly transformed the terminology and categorization of central issues in Ottoman politics and laid the most salient intellectual and institutional foundations for the young Republic. The revolution opened the Second Constitutional period (1908–18). Its first phase revitalized the liberal constitutionalism of the Young Ottomans. Political thinking drew heavily upon Montesquieu's formula for the separation of powers in combination with the ideas of the Third Republic and Ottoman positivism.

Abstract:
A new conception, electro-magnetically controlled, diaphragmless shock tube was realized and tested in the laboratories of University of Florence. A piston separates the co-axial driver and driven sections. The piston is kept in position by a force of an electromagnet acting on an iron disc linked to its rod. In order to obtain very short opening time, light materials were tested for moving devices: aluminum, ergal, titanium and iron. Opening time was measured using contact sensors. Several different dimensionless driven section lengths were tested by changing the driven section length and by reducing the driven section diameter. The influence of the two factors on shock presence and shock formation was analyzed separately. Tests were carried out for driver-to-driven pressure ratios of up to 22, obtaining shock waves at Mach number of up to 1.70 with a difference from the theoretical value for a straight shock tube of 9%. A configuration for increasing the useful test time after the shock passage is also proposed and tested. The system realized is simple, easy-to-use, quite cheap and can be a very useful way of obtaining a reproducible shock wave. The shock tube details and the test results are reported below.

Abstract:
This study deals with the concept of the state in terms of structure and function and aims to comparatively analyze the perception of the state in the Turkish thought. In the literature on the state today, there is a tendency to reject a universal state theory. It is argued that there can be a conception of the state for each country in their own context. The type of organization and conditions of each state can cause the formation of different structures and functions, and hence to insist on a universal approach would not be appropriate. However, to understand the conception of state in terms of structure and function in our political culture, the dominant Western thought on the state constitutes an important criterion.

Abstract:
The article deals with some of the aspects related to development of the present-day conception of pension schemes in Ukraine and Kazakhstan in the context of solving social problems. Demographic and economic conditions for functioning of pension mechanisms of the countries under consideration are analyzed. Comparison of their parameters shows the existence of conceptual characteristics and similar features. Approaches to formation of insurance fees as the background for pension schemes financial balance have been analyzed. Attention is paid to the dependence of financial stability of pension schemes on the level of shadowing of employment relations and wages. Outstanding characteristics for formation of pension assets of insured persons are described. Mutual problems for development of basic pension security are defined. We focus at the insufficient level of development of the non-state pension provision in comparison with the present-day public needs. In the course of our investigations we used the whole complex of general scientific and economic-statistical methods: tabulation procedure, data processing and comparison study. Speculative generalizations and conclusions are made based on the abstract-logical method. We make our proposals to improve the conception of the present-day pension scheme (system) and environment for its functioning for the purposes of further social and economic national development.

Wolfenson, David, William W. Thatcher, and James E. Kinder. Regulation of LH Secretion in the Periovulatory Period as a Strategy to Enhance Ovarian Function and Fertility in Dairy and Beef Cows. United States Department of Agriculture, December 2003. http://dx.doi.org/10.32747/2003.7586458.bard.

Full text
Abstract:
The general research objective was to increase herd pregnancy rates by enhancing corpus luteum (CL) function and optimizing follicle development, in order to increase conception rate and embryo survival. The specific objectives were: to determine the effect of the duration of the preovulatory LH surge on CL function; to determine the function of LH during the postovulatory period on CL development; to optimize CL differentiation and follicle development by means of a biodegradable GnRH implant; to test whether optimization of CL development and follicle dynamics in timed- insemination protocols would improve fertility in high-yielding dairy cows. Low fertility in cattle results in losses of hundreds of millions of dollars in the USA and Israel. Two major causes of low fertility are formation of a functionally impaired CL, and subsequent enhanced ovarian follicle development. A functionally impaired CL may result from suboptimal LH secretion. The two major causes of low fertility in dairy cattle in US and Israel are negative energy status and summer heat stress; in both situations, low fertility is associated with reductions in LH secretion and impaired development of the ovulatory follicle and of the CL. In Florida, the use of 450-mg deslorelin (GnRH analogue) implants to induce ovulation, under the Ovsynch protocol resulted in a higher pregnancy rates than use of 750-mg implants, and pregnancy losses tended to decrease compared to controls, due probably to decrease in follicular development and estradiol secretion at the time of conceptus signaling to maintain the CL. An alternative strategy to enhance progesterone concentrations involved induction of an accessory CL by injection of hCG on day 5 after the cows were inseminated. Treatment with hCG resulted in 86% of the cows having two CLs, compared with 23% of the control cows. Conception rates were higher among the hCG-treated cows than among the controls. Another approach was to replace the second injection of GnRH analogue, in a timed-insemination protocol, with estradiol cypionate (ECP) injected 24 h after the injection of PGF₂ₐ Pregnancy rates were comparable with those obtained under the regular Ovsynch (timed- AI) program. Use of ECP induced estrus, and cows inseminated at detected estrus are indeed more fertile than those not in estrus at the time of insemination. Collectively, the BARD-supported programs at the University of Florida have improved timed insemination programs. In Ohio, the importance of the frequency of LH episodes during the early stages of the estrous cycle of cattle, when the corpus luteum is developing, was studied in an in vivo experiment in which cows were subjected to various episodic exposures to exogenous bovine LH. Results indicate that the frequent LH episodes immediately following the time of ovulation are important in development of the corpus luteum, from the points of view of both size and functionality. In another study, rates of cell proliferation and numbers of endothelial cells were examined in vitro in CLs collected from cows that received post-ovulation pulsatile LH treatment at various frequencies. The results indicate that the corpora lutea growth that results from luteal cell proliferation is enhanced by the episodes of LH release that occur immediately after the time of ovulation in cattle. The results also show that luteal endothelial cell numbers did not differ among cows treated with different LH doses. In Israel. a longer duration of the preovulatory LH surge stimulated the steroidogenic capacity of granulosa-derived luteal cells, and might, thereby, contribute to a higher progesterone output from the bovine corpus luteum. In an in vivo study, a subgroup of high-yielding dairy cows with extended estrus to ovulation interval was identified. Associated with this extended interval were: low plasma progesterone and estradiol concentrations and a low preovulatory LH surge prior to ovulation, as well as low post- ovulation progesterone concentration. In experiments based on the above results, we found that injection of GnRH at the onset of estrus increased the LHpeak, prevented late ovulation, decreased the variability between cows and elicited high and uniform progesterone levels after ovulation. GnRH at estrus onset increased conception rates, especially in the summer, and among primiparous cows and those with low body condition. Another study compared ovarian functions in multiparous lactating cows with those in nulliparous non-lactating heifers. The results revealed differences in ovarian follicular dynamics, and in plasma concentrations of steroids and gonadotropins that may account for the differences in fertility between heifers and cows.
